2. Few Words About Dussera Festival
Dussehra, also known as
Vijayadashami is one of the biggest
festivals observed by the Hindu
community in the country. It is
celebrated at the end of Navratri, on
account of which the date changes
every year. Under the Hindu
calendar's month of Kartik, this
festival will be observed on the 10th
day of this month.

worshipped.
6. Day 4: Sunday marks the
fourth day of Navratri. On this
day Goddess Kushmanda is
worshipped who is the
fourth avatar of Navdurga.
Goddess Kushmanda is
believed to be the creator of
the universe and resides at the
centre of the sun as she
balances the energy and light
in the universe.

7. The 5th Day of Navratri is
dedicated to Goddess Skanda
Mata, Lord Kartikeya's mother.
Skanda is another name for the
war god Kartikeya and Mata is a
term used for mother. This is
why the Goddess is known as
Skanda Mata. She is the
motherly incarnation of
Goddess Durga.

Navaratri, Goddess Katy
ayani is worshipped to
get blessings and bring
fortune and luck to the

Kalaratri emerged when the
Parvati peeled off her divine
golden skin to kill the demons

observed as Ashtami Tithi or
Mahashtami Vrat. On this
day, the 8th form of Goddess
Durga - Goddess Mahagauri is
worshipped. She is the extreme
manifestation of Goddess Durga,

and hence known as Goddess
Mahagauri.

Maha Navami is dedicated to
the ninth form of Goddess
Durga- Maa Siddhidatri. It is
believed that Goddess Durga
killed the demon Mahishasura
on this day and hence she is
also known as

Puja festival is celebrated as
Vijayadashmi in West Bengal.
It celebrates goddess Durga's
victory over demon

in West Bengal offer sindoor to

sindoor on each other's cheeks
13. Why Vijaya Dashami is
celebrated after Navratri
As per Hindu mythology, Dussehra
is celebrated after Navratri because
it is believed that Lord Ram
worshipped Goddess Durga before
starting his journey to defeat
Ravana, on Lord Vishnu’s advice.
The festival marks the victory of
Lord Ram over Lanka king Ravana
(the 10-headed demon).
