This document reports on a project measuring and comparing the field strengths of different mobile network providers at the Mizoram University campus. It describes the field strength meter used, provides the carrier frequencies for different sectors of Vodafone, Airtel, BSNL and Aircel towers, and calculates the corresponding uplink and downlink frequencies. Field strength measurements in dBm taken across the campus are presented in a table for each provider and sector. The document concludes by discussing designing an antenna for future work and citing a reference text on radio monitoring.

10. Calculation of Uplink and Downlink from
ARFCN
The carrier frequency of an uplink channel can be calculated using the
ARFCN(Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number) according to the
formula:
• fuplink = Start frequency + (ARFCN - Offset)*0.2 MHz
The lower bound of a downlink band conforms to the following formula:
• fdownlink = fuplink + Band distance
