Focus Interview
Abbie Shuttleworth
Introduction
Me, Megan and Melissa are going to carry
out a interview on a range of different
people in order to help with my research.
This research will help in order to make
our film more suitable for our target
audience which will then make it more
successful. When we interviewed people
we gave them are summary before we
asked them questions. We will edit the
answers into a short clip. Look at the
YouTube video that is posted after this
work on my blog.
-What do you like and dislike about the thriller genre? Why?

-Can you relate to male or female characters more and why?
-Can you give an example of some of your favourite thriller films if
you have any?
-Do you think we can make any improvements to our original
narrative?
-What do you do in your free time?
-What do you think the most effective way to open a thriller film
is?
-Do you like films that make you jump? Why?
-Do you like seeing stereotypes being challenged?
-Would you go and see this film in the cinema and why?
Conclusion

Our interview showed us that the audience like a film that is unpredictable, has a twist
to it and makes you jump, saying that it 'keeps you on the edge of your seat'. The
audience feedback showed us that they can empathise more with characters of the same
sex, because they know what they're going through and how they would feel. Our
audience told us that some of their favourite films include hide and seek, black hawk
down and saw. Our audience thought that no improvement needed to be made to our
narrative because it was good, different and original. They also said that it keeps people
thinking. Most of our audience participate in some kind of sporting activity, ranging
from horse riding to football. They also like going to the cinema and seeing friends. The
audience feedback told us that the most effective way to open a thriller film is to include
lots of action and gore right from the beginning. Most of our audience said that they do
enjoy films that make them jump as long as it has a good storyline to follow. They prefer
to watch a jumpy film if it is unpredictable because it is more interesting.
Our information told us that the audience only like stereotypes being challenged
sometimes. Yes the audience would like to see this film because it is interesting and
different. However, one person said that they wouldn't like to see it in the cinema
because it seems quite girly, and this is because they find it harder to relate to females
than males similar to themselves.
