Audience Research
Who's the target audience
• The aim of our documentary is to raise
awareness therefore we will have a mass
audience.
• From the age of 13 and above as knife crime is
common from this age.
• The gender of our documentary will be both
male and females as anyone can be a victim of
knife crime.
What is knife crime?
The phrase was take on by the media and is now
popularly used to refer primarily to stabbings but also to
the illegal carrying of knives by young people in a public
place or on school premises. However, 'knife-enabled
crime' includes a variety of other offences involving a
bladed weapon, for example it is an offence to cause or
threaten harm with a knife and if used in a robbery or
assault, it aggravates the offence. It is also illegal to look
after, hide or transport a dangerous weapon on behalf of
someone else, market a knife in a way which is likely to
encourage violent behaviour, and sell a knife to a person
under 18
How much does my target audience
know about knife crime?
Knife crime is quite popular with my target
audience because:
• Young teenagers/adults know victims of knife
crime.
• Many young teenagers/adults carry weapons
or know people who carry weapons.
• Adults watch the news so they are aware of
recent cases of knife crime.
