4. BODY IMAGE
• one‘s subjective feeling about his/her own physical appearance.
• The word body image was coined b “PAUL SCHILDER.”
• It has been seen that adoloscent girls have low self esteem and less
satisfied with their body image through family and media influence.
(green & pritchard 2003;davidson &mccabe 2006).the cause has
been the comparsion with the existing “ideal” Shape found in young
generation especially females. (Williamson, gleaves, watkins and
schlundht, 1993).
5. OBJECTIVE
• To understand the concept of self esteem and body image
• To determine the relationship between self esteem and body
image.
6. SCALES USED
Two standarized scales were used to Collect the data on self esteem and Body image.
1. ROSENBERG‘S SELF ESTEEM SCALE (1987)
• Dr. Morris Rosenberg
• 10-item scales
• Measure positive & negative feelings

1. BODY IMAGE QUESTIONNAIRE (2002)
• Bruchon-schweitzer
• 19 items
• Measures satisfaction/dissatisfaction, activity/passivity
(M., Koleck, Bruchon-schweitxer,M., Cousson-Gelie, F.& Quitard, B. 2002.The Body Image
Questionnaire (BIQ)
7. SAMPLE
Sample of 80 undergraduate female students from the age group
of 17 to 22 years from different college of Delhi University
Purposive sampling Method was used.
8. RESULT
*Correlation is significant at the 0.01 level.
