4. Stages of Cancer
• The severity of the disease is determined by the patient's current stage. The stages of cancer indicate
where it is situated and how far it has progressed. Doctors do many tests to establish the stage of cancer
before reaching a verdict. The staging is not complete until all of the tests have been completed.
• Stage 1: The cancer has only expanded to a small region and has not moved to the lymph nodes or other
tissues.
• Stage 2: Although cancer has progressed, it has not spread.
• Stage 3: The cancer has increased in size and may have migrated to lymph nodes or other organs.
• Stage 4: Other organs or parts of your body have been affected by cancer. This stage of cancer is also
known as advanced Cancer.
