2. Young Rube
Rube Goldberg was born in San Francisco on the 4th of July , 1883.
Rube graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 1904 with a
degree in engineering.
Rube started drawing at the age of four and never stopped.
3. Rubes First Jobs
Rube only lasted as an engineer for a short time, then moved to an office boy
for the sports department at a local newspaper.
Rube decided that he didn’t want to sit be hide a desk for 40 year designing
sewer systems for the city of San Francisco so he left and he wanted to go and
draw cartoons.
Rube soon moved from San Francisco to New York to work for the Evening
Mail drawing daily cartoons.
4. Rube Gets Famous
At the time of the “machine age”, which was when all the different machines
were being invented, Rube was staring his cartooning career.
Rube cartoons showed some whacky inventions, these were happening a lot
during the “machine age”.
Rube had a way of showing how silly some inventions could be for doing
simple things.
People began to love his cartoons and the way they showed the most
complicated way to do the most easiest things.
5. Rube and His Machines
This is one of Rubes simple machine. It shows how funny Rubes machine
cartoons were because it tells you to do something so easy but makes it so
complicated. As if the cat is always going to be sitting there!!
With Rubes humor, his engineering degree and his life time of drawing made
his cartoons of these machines so popular.
6. Rube Lives On
Rube was so amazing that people are still making video clips of his type of
machine and posting them on YouTube.
Still to this day there are contest ever year for people to make the best type
of Rube Goldberg's machine.
