April Fools Happy Hour a Success
April 1st saw hundreds of Youth Venture supporters come out to Madam's Organ in Ada
Morgan. A great time was had by all as people played trivia and Youth Venture continue
to build momentum in the DC area. All the proceeds from the April Fools Happy Hour will
support launching Youth Venture teams in DC.
Youth Venture and LSI Collaborate to send 37 Venture Teams to
Panel
On April 8th, Youth Venture and LearnServe International worked together to launch 37
Ventures. The Venturers hail from every corner of the DC Metro Area and their ideas are
as diverse and well-rounded as the Venturers themselves. The Panel included 12 Panel
rooms and over 50 Panelists and Moderators at the School Without Walls in Foggy
Bottom. A Venture Fair was held after the Panel for families, teachers, and community
members to admire the work these youth have undertaken since September. These 37
youth teams now join the more than 3,500 other Venture Teams around the world seekin
to write their generation's history.
Volunteer Profile: Ameet Purohit
Ameet is a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton who has served as a Coach for the
Dream It. Do It. Challenge, a Panelist, and a Panel Moderator in addition to fervently
supporting Youth Venture sponsored events. Ameet became involved with YV because it
combined his interests in education with the entrepreneurial work the youth undertake.
He also appreciates YV's volunteer scheduling, which makes it easy for professionals to
get involved. When asked about his experiences with the Dream It. Do It. Challenge,
Ameet said "Over the course of the DDC, I didn't know that I could be so lucky as to see
teens use their passion and their desire to become a force for change within their
community." The youth's growth throughout the YV process continually inspires him. To
