Hi my name is Yolvalda Jones and my life story is very open and free spirited. I’m a professional truck driver
and I have been driving over the road as a truck driver since the year 1999. When I first started driving trucks
and I was a trainee I was able to travel all 48 states, in order to get certified within all regions. I went and
bought a camera so I could capture all of the beautiful scenery. I even captured a picture of the World Trade
Center coming across the Verrazano Bridge as I was leaving Brooklyn New York, with beautiful sunset days
before the Tragic September 11, 2011. After experiencing such tragedy, I have learned to appreciate every day
and never take any moment for granted. As a professional I know to be aware of any suspicious activity any
were through out my daily routine. As a professional Truck driver I have to abide by all federal and dot
transportation rules and ensure that I’m in compliance with all rules and weight limits. I also have to ensure that
I keep a professional attitude at all times, and dress accordingly when it comes to entering different chemical
plants. It is the driver’s responsibility to have all the proper person protection equipment, long sleeves, hard hat,
safety glasses, and steel toe shoes. Throughout my prior experiences I have found that it is of great importance
to effectively communicate with the customers and the dispatchers as well. Each load needs to be marked as
picked up; time spent loading, en route, and delivered. All forms of communication have to be utilized so that
the customer knows where the freight is at all times. As a driver I’m expected to talk to the customer, brokers,
DOT officials, and dispatcher. I look forward to becoming an owner operator and driving my own tractor trailer
for my own business Lady Aries Express. That’s why I’m in school now to get my Bachelors in Business
Management to further my career as an owner operator truck driver.
