Objectives:
At the end of the 2 hour period, students are expected
to: (Wednesday and Thursday)
1. define dystopian fiction;
2. read, watch and analyze the movie Divergent
3. explore the contemporary issues reflective in dystopian
fiction through answering the text analysis;
4. compare how Roth’s Divergent resembles or differs from
Vonnegut’s Harrison Bergeron
5. Make a poster depecting your imagined scenario with the
speculative question given.
Divergent
•Is the first novel in trilogy set in a society
that defines and categorizes its citizens
according to their social and personality
traits.
•The purpose of classifying citizens into
factions is to prevent people from exercising
independent will.
Objectives:
At the end of the 2 hour period, students are
expected to: (Wednesday and Thursday)
1. define dystopia and dystopian fiction;
2. watch and analyze the movie Divergent;
3. compare how Roth’s Divergent resembles or differs
from Vonnegut’s Harrison Bergeron;
4. be considerate to others by behaving and not making
noises while watching the movie.
Objectives:
At the end of the 1hour period, students are expected
to:
1. Differentiate utopia from utopia;
2. Imagine and analyze a what if situation that would
emerge as result of an issue or problem;
3. make a tradiational or digital poster out of a “what
if” situation;
4. work collaboratively with a group to achieve a good
output.
Performance Task #3
• Imagine a “what if” situation that would emerge as a result of this issue
or problem.
• Present day issue - Rapid advancement of technology
• “What if”situation – machines/robots, computers replacing human
functions, rendering human skills obsolete
• Make a poster depicting your imagined scenario. You may use either
traditional or digital tools to create your poster.
• Write an appropriate caption for your poster.
