I.Introduction
a. College is an integral time period for many people – college is a time for freedom, receiving an
education, and learning what it means to survive on little to no food for long periods of time. Or at
least that's what it's been like for me. Food is arguably one of the most important things to a college
student, especially off–campus food. Many of you are probably thinking of that one food that you
could eat over and over again and never get tired of it. Of course food is important, though, or else
why would we be told to eat three square meals...show more content...
While many relate fasting to starving, this could not be further from the truth.
II.Body
a.The effects of fasting pertaining to physical health
i.In modern societies across the globe, humans typically eat meals three times daily, while
continuously snacking throughout the day. Overeating, especially with said eating patterns, has
lead to many metabolic morbidities and diseases such as obesity and heart disease when combined
with a sedentary lifestyle. Hundreds of years ago, humans and animals alike had adapted to an
environment in which food was scarce. This allowed for them to function cognitively and
physically at a very high level in a food deprived (or fasted) state.
ii.In their article Health effects of intermittent fasting: hormesis or harm?, Horne, Muhlestein, and
Anderson conclude that after many randomized, controlled clinical trials, some physical benefits
from fasting are as follows: "The body uses fats for energy during fasting, reducing fat storage and
resulting in a small, long–term reduction in risk after each fasting episode. Nutritional stress during
fasting, at least in part, results in cellular–level repairs, functional optimization, and metabolic
rejuvenation that may improve long–term health by reducing cardiovascular risk factors and acting
on the metabolism of glucose via genes." One of the main reasons for these benefits is that during
fasting, the

COMPREHENSIVE OVERVIEW:
To protect the well–being of customers, a comprehensive overview of transit bus laws, must be
provided, as well as information on how the state departments of transportation (DOT) regulates the
operation of transit operated by public transit, to help us understand our legal responsibilities with
respect to emergency planning and disputes involving federal, state, and local laws.
BASIC QUESTIONS: o How do we navigate local laws and regulations? o How do we prepare and
review transportation contracts? o How do we Investigate transportation accidents o How do we
prepare defense or resolution of claims? o How do we know what documents are legally required?
SAFETY/EMERGENCY CODE:
We recommend that all transits, including buses: o Conduct a...show more content...
oWhat's the population requirement for funding public transportation in area of less than 50,000
populations? o What's the population requirement of urbanized area? o What's the obligations of the
private party? o What's the obligations of the public party? o Whose is eligible for the fund?
REQUIREMENT: o State may not receive more than 5 percent of the amount apportioned for land
area. o The State must use 15 percent of its annual apportionment to support intercity bus service o
The project must meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act o Under PPP
contracts, Policy will remain enforceable until the end of the term of each contract o Private parties
are required to invest equity o Private parties are required to provide a share of equity
We recommend Private Partnerships fund to be used as a form of financing transportation projects in
the public sector: o Transit safety improvements o Transportation control measurement. o Public

1) What is climate change?
Climate Change is the significant change in the climate and distribution of weather patterns on Earth
ranging from the last decade to millennia earlier.
2) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
Currently chaired by Mr. Rajendra Pachauri, this organisation was setup in 1988 by two United
Nations organizations, the World Meteorological Organisation and the United Nations Environment
Programme. IPCC reports on the scientific, technical and socio–economic information needed to

Without this layer of gases the Earth would be too cold to be inhabited, perhaps 20 degrees cooler
than now. But, then amount of gases in this layer must remain constant. Even a slight increase could
have drastic results. Many people believe that a one degree increase in the temperature will not
cause much harm. The truth is with every degree of increase in temperature a 100 more wildlife
species are put in danger of extinction. Numerous experiments and studies prove that an increased
level of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide, is causing climate change and causing it fast.
2) Human Activities
A) Burning of fossil fuels–This is the most prominent and deadly source of climate change. Burning
of fossil fuels can release greenhouse gases ranging from carbon dioxide to ammonia. With massive
industrialization currently going on, the amount of fossil fuels burned is increasing. Transport and
heating are also major energy sources. Almost 7 giga tonnes of Carbon dioxide is emitted per year.
In the U.K three–fourths of energy produced comes from fossil fuels. Mineral fuels like petroleum
and coal are major sources of energy. In the last 150 years more than 45 Billion tonnes of carbon
dioxide has been emitted .The most problematic factor is that in the last decade; there has been no
slowdown in carbon emissions.
B) Poor use of land–Plants are the only natural purifiers of air and also the most abundant. But,

ALL 50 STATES SHOULD HAVE MANDATORY MOTORCYCLE HELMET LAWS
TOPIC: Mandatory motorcycle helmet laws
PURPOSE: To persuade the audience that all 50 states should enact and enforce a mandatory
motorcycle helmet law.
THESIS STATEMENT: Mandatory helmet laws save lives and dollars.
INTRODUCTION
п‚·
п‚·
п‚·
Did you know that only 19 states and the District of Columbia have laws in place that require all
motorcycle riders to wear a helmet? 19!?
28 states have laws covering some riders, usually people younger than 18.
3 states (Illinois, Iowa and New Hampshire) that do not have any helmet requirements at all. I find
it odd that we all are required by law to wear our seatbelts and put our children in safety...show more
content...
Repeatedly, the effect is the same, no or fewer laws enforcing helmet wearing means increased
motorcycle rider fatalities
i. Less law requirement = less helmet wearing = more deaths
D. And that's the very real cost to you and me fewer Dads, uncles, sons, nephews (90% of all killed
are men)
Transition: But why? Why on earth would we weaken or get rid these laws when we know that they
prevent deaths?
II. Lots of motorcycle riders vehemently oppose these laws
A. They are passionate and vocal. They turn out in large numbers and ride their bikes around
Washington DC and state capitols. They walk the halls of legislatures and knock on doors lobbying
against helmet restrictions.
B. But safety is not the point that motorcycle rights activist groups are arguing: its freedom a. The
government shouldn't tell us what to do
b. It's so un–American it's embarrassing
i. Freedom fighters
c. it is my personal choice to make
i. Courts have time and again stuck down this individual argument
1. Public roads
2. No insurance=Govt funded hospital bills and disability benefits
a. IIHS backs that up by reviewing 25 studies and concluding that just over half of riders involved in
accidents had private health insurance
Transition: So, let's take a quick look at the safety issue that the freedom fighters can't refute.
III. The solution is already documented:
