Environmental Experience Growing up, I can say my childhood was awesome. I had a wonderful family and great friends. My grandparents owned a farm, so there were always fun things to do, we also had plenty of free time to play. About a mile from my family’s farm was woods that resemble a forest, it was large and had tall trees. The woods, however, had clear paths, so people went there for jogging and relaxation. For my siblings, friends and myself, this was where we often went to ride our bicycles and raced each other. This was a place that I formed a good memory with nature because of its beauty. Apart from the trees, there were other living creatures like birds, squirrels and butterflies and this often made the place a sanctuary for our games due to the different sounds the birds made. As I grew up, the area where I once lived and loved became populated and were bought by land developers eventually, all the trees were cut down. Where there used to be a place where my imagination could run wild and so filled with life now seems so rocky, congested and full of garbage and damp sites. At first, we did not notice a major difference, but all this changed when the rainy season came. Floods became uncontrollable; the wind blew without anything to block it and therefore destroyed a lot of things. The weather patterns have also been affected making the amount of rain decrease, and also the garbage and smoke have affected people’s health. This had me thinking about the environment we live in. In conclusion, through the educational system, I was able to learn about the different ways in which the environment is often tarnished. Among them is deforestation, water pollution in rivers and the ocean. Lastly, air pollution thought our carbon emissions. There are also many preventive measures that can be taken to make sure that extreme pollution does not occur (Khopkar, 2014). Among the basic measures is educating people about pollution and creating laws and regulations that will help with combating those that contribute to environmental destruction. This can assist in preventing extreme weather conditions like flooding and acidic rain which is caused by air pollution and deforestation. Do you feel that GMOs are safe?

3. It is our nature to be resistant to change. There have been a lot
of resistant to GMOs. I support GMOs as I believe they are safe
for human consumption. GMOs are safe. There is always a
presence of uncertainty among human beings regarding safety;
however, there is a lack of evidence concerning their harm.
GMOs do not have adverse environmental effects as well as
they possess little chemicals as they utilize low amounts of
pesticides (National Academies of Sciences and Medicine
(U.S.), 2016). There could be a presence of various risks in
association to a particular gene introduced, however, each crop
under GMO that has a current feature is usually subjected to a
keen and close examination that makes it safe. Since the first
introduction of commercialized GMOs, there have been no valid
evident on negative impacts connected to GMO crops.
Before any food produced through GM technology is allowed
into the market, a series of tests have to be carried out. Such
tests are considered essential by the identified authorities as
they assist in determining the safety regarding every current
GM product. These tests make current GM crop associated
varieties as safe to consume as current non-GM associated
varieties which are not usually tested (In Schmitz & In
Kennedy, 2017).
Do you believe GMOs in foods should be labeled?
I believe that GMO food must be labeled due to a variety of
reasons. Firstly, GMOs are present in the food whereby food is
considered to be the number one element concerning the
condition regarding human health. Everyone has a right to be
aware of what type of food they are consuming despite the
safety claims of GMOs as they have a responsibility to decide.
Secondly, there are a variety of studies that reveal some types
of GMOs as being harmful such as glyphosate which causes
diabetes. Moreover, GMO should be labeled because technology
regarding GMO foreign proteins is considered by prominent
world scientists as being unpredictable as well as uncontrollable
and possess unforeseen impacts (Gostin, 2014).
Nonetheless, current research reveals that GMO foods that

4. utilize heavy herbicides are involved in destroying the
microbiome of the soil as well as minimize the nutritional
content concerning the food and leave a lot of chemical residues
on such food (In Schmitz & In Kennedy, 2017). Therefore, it
means that such GMOs are substantially distinct and they
warrant labeling. In conclusion, GMO foods should be labeled
mainly because they are an element regarding human health thus
GMO labeling health as well as safety issue first.
Do you see GMOs affecting the world today?
There are many ways in which GMOs can affect the world
today. GMOs can impact the environment in various ways as
well as humans both in positive and negative ways. GMOs have
led to increase in the utility of herbicides as well as pesticides,
therefore, leaving a lot of chemical residues on crops which is
harmful to consumer intake. GMOs can greatly destroy the
environment through such increased chemicals on the soil.
Moreover, GMOs can lead to widespread poor health-related
issues among humans along with violation of both consumer and
farmer rights. GMO can also lead to a healthy community if all
the precautions are carefully taken, with regular and strict
testing before any release of GMO (Knoepfler, 2016).
Contamination of farmer seeds by GMO can lead to increase in
economic losses for farmers and the nation at large. It is
therefore essential that the aspect of GMO be reviewed
carefully to avoid future inconveniences.

Energy
Energy has become one of the key aspects to consider after
climate change. There are several cases linked to energy in the
United States. There have also been several measures directed
to better and establish more regulations on the issues about
renewable and the non-renewable energy. Therefore, the
government of the United States should enhance better measures
to address national energy. This would be made possible by
establishing a National Energy Policy. The first step would be
the policy design and evaluation. This would involve the
technical feasibility of the alternative fuels, the available new
technologies and the future involves looking beyond the
engineer estimates and the general availability of particular

6. fuels and the limited technologies. Secondly, there should be a
focus on the economic modeling approaches. The economy
should be accounted for in the budget and planning for the
National Energy Policy. The cost welfare of each economic
model has to be well detailed to ensure that the best stands out.
Also, an additional strategy should also involve wide-ranging.
Wide-ranging would ensure that there are more basic policies
that would then be used to develop the National Energy Policy
(Walls et. al, 2010). There should include an examination of an
array of cross-cutting policies that have the availability of
combining multiple individual policies. The other major
strategy should include the examination of economic or welfare
costs.
The National Energy Policy would oversee an approach
that would generally offer better measures to society. Major
emphasis would be enhanced on the renewable sources of
energy such as the thermal, solar and hydro. A comparison
would also be developed on the other non-renewable sources of
energy such as oil, natural gas, and coal. This would be
enhanced to offer a comparison on the extent of which they
have affected the society (Walls et. al, 2010). Besides, this
would also enhance an emphasis to foresee the future of other
alternatives of energy that would not have the same causes and
effects as the current energy sources.
On the other hand, there would also be several measure on
addressing the current energy issues. This would involve a
higher concentration on the elimination of the non-renewable
sources of energy since they have brought with themselves a lot
of limitations to the society. Also, there also would be a focus
on the renewable sources to ensure that they are far much
developed to eliminate the existing non-renewable resources.
The main approaches that would be involved include energy
security. This would mean a better understanding of the case of
foreign oil. The best measures would be developed to cater for
the case of importing oil especially the non-renewable sources.
This would address the development and establishment of our

7. measures of creating our dependable energy sources. Other
measures would also be developing our natural gas security
(Walls et. al, 2010). This would include the best efforts to
establish products which do not have much CO2 content as
compared to oil. The most important measure would be
approaching the energy sources on the extent to which they have
affected climate change. A reduction would occur to the energy
sources that are highly contributing to higher levels of global
CO2 among other Green House Gas emissions.

Air and Water
The United States is one of the States that require the Paris
Agreement in the essence of tackling the main problem that has
struck the world, and that is climate change. There are many
reasons why the United States should join the agreement.
Climate change is not a limited challenge to specific areas. It is

8. a global disaster. It has affected every part of the world. Every
country including the United States requires their
implementation and commitment to meet the necessities of
tackling climate change. (Hansen, 2017) The United States
require the Paris Agreement to secure the lives of
the next generations to come. This would be enhanced by
creating a safe place and improve the environment, and that is
why the United States requires the Paris Agreement. The United
States has faced tremendous challenges due to climate change.
Some of the cases involve flooding among the coastal cities due
to storms and high tides. These cases have brought about very
high insurance rates since the communities have become more
vulnerable to disasters that are as a result of climate change.
There have also been hotter and drier cases of weather which
have generally propelled the intensity of wind fires which
among them are closer to people’s homes. Cases of erosion have
indicated that more communities have to relocate. Based on the
Paris Agreement, much of the benefit will be to the Americans
(Hansen, 2017). The many commitments that have been brought
together to a collective decision will be essential for tackling
the United States disasters among other disasters as per the
Paris Agreement. Therefore, the United States requires the Paris
Agreement for its benefits on climate change.
The Paris Agreement has clear guidelines and
commitments on how he involved member states will tackle
climate change. Therefore, in the few years to come and
especially in this 21st Century, there will be limited cases of
global warming among other cases of climate change. Some of
the best initiatives that are being taken from the Paris
Agreement to tackle this challenge include the holding of the
increasing global temperatures that are well below 2 0C which
will be mandated above the preindustrial areas (Hansen, 2017).
This will be an effort of limiting the temperature increase to
1.5 0C above pre-industrial areas. Regulating the temperatures
in these areas would significantly bring an effort to tackling
climate change. Also, the Paris Agreement has measures on

9. increasing the ability to adaptation to the adverse climatic
changes. This would be achieved through fostering resilience
with the other efforts to limit the release of greenhouse gases
(Guy et. al, 2017). This is designed to take place in a manner
that does not affect food production. Besides, other efforts by
the Paris Agreement would include resilient climate
developments and the low greenhouse gas emissions, an effort
that will be fostered through making finance flows consistently.
Therefore, the Paris Agreement has better promise that the
adverse effects of climate change would be minimized to a
promising level in the 21st century and especially the case of
global warming.
Climate change and especially global warming have
adverse effects on water sources. This includes shifting of
precipitation patterns and the disruption of the water cycle. In
turn, generates drought seasons and precipitation events (Guy
et. al, 2017). These cases in general, threaten water sources.
President Trump decided to withdraw from the Paris Agreement
and angered a lot of people. Some people argue that it is not
about the environment but more about lining their pockets with
money, while others think that the president has made the right
decision by keeping others from stealing our wealth and jobs. I
personally care about human rights and the effects that this
would cause on people around the world. The climate has done
enough damage as far as water, foods, and homes, I’m not sure
whether President Trump made the right
decision by pulling out of the Paris Agreement, but this could
be a threat to the health of children all over the world.
