Essay about Byrons Don Juan
Byron's Don Juan
One writer who has not recieved nearly enough credit for his works is
George Gordon, who later became known as Lord Byron. This is the man who wrote his own poetical version of Don Juan. Don Juan is a man who
is known for being able to arouse the desires of women and to love every one he meets. This Don
Juan can be viewed, however, as a loosely disguised biography of Byron.
Lord Byron's father, Captain John, has ancestors that go back as far as the Buruns in the time of William the Conqueror. Back in this time it was very
common for people to marry their own cousins. Captain John was married three times and was considered to be very smooth with the ladies....show

He soon had another affair with a woman named Mary Gray. Soon hereafter he was involved with many liaisons with such women as Lady Caroline
Lamb and then Lady Oxford.
Then just as Byron was beginning to live his life the way he had always wanted to, his mother dies in 1811. The following year he became immensely
fashionable and notorious. By 1813 he had began another affair with his half– sister Augusta. Continuing his search for the woman of his dreams, he
marrys
Anabella Milbanke in 1815 and has a daughter the same year.
The next year Lady Byron leaves him to visit her parents and never returns. Separation papers are signed and he begins another liaison with Claire
Clairmont. The following year(1817), they have a baby named Allegra. Not too long after this he falls in love with yet another woman, named
Marianna Segati.
His next love happened two years later, Countess Teresa Guiccioli. Many say she was his last love and his first. Byron met Teresa at an evening party.
They soon began meeting secretly because she was married to Count Alessandro
Guiccioli. She had auburn curls, large lovely eyes, beautifully shaped shoulders and arms, and an abundant bosom. She was completely intrigued by
Byron's beauty. Maybe they both felt that fate brought them together. It was customary in the code of serventismo for a married woman to have a lover
and the husband wasn't

Mental Health Reflection
Over the course of this semester I have gained so much knowledge and my understanding of mental health has changed completely. I am thankful for
everything that I have learned throughout the semester, and getting to hear my peer's perspective on mental health helped me develop my own
understanding.
ARTICULATING YOURLEARNING: In the beginning of the semester my perspective on mental health was very different than what it has become
now. When the semester started my view on mental health was that it was on recovery and how that is such a critical aspect in mental health,
especially when thinking about mental disorders. My perspective has not changed in the sense that i still believe that recovery is important. However,
my perspective has...show more content...
Specifically when looking at challenges that people when mental illness face I believe that the reason why it's hard for people to face their
challenges due to things such as stigma, and how they view themselves. When people feel bad about themselves they have a hard time finding the
drive to change what they want change, because they might not feel like they have the ability to. Furthermore, there is a lot of stigma around
people who have mental illness which can sometimes make it difficult for individuals to be able to face these challenges. This could be because
they don't see the point in trying to recover due to the fact that the stigma is never going to change. What can help people face their challenges is
having a good support system, and also society changing the stigma on people with mental illness so that it is not in such a negative light. The next
comment that I wanted to reflect on was also from my book critique, and it asked me to think about how my perspective on the lack of recourses for
people with mental illnesses influences my view on mental illnesses. I believe it effects my perspective on mental illness because I believe there is
more that can be done to help people with mental illness, and therefore it does not seem fair that they do not even have

Don Juan As Byron Introspective Essay
The works of George Gordon, Lord Byron have long been controversial, nearly as controversial as his lifestyle. Gordon Byron was born with a
clubfoot and his sensitivity to it haunted his life and his works. Despite being a very handsome child, a fragile self–esteem made Byron extremely
sensitive to criticism, of himself or of his poetry and he tended to make enemies rather quickly. The young Byron was often unhappy and lonely any
many of his works seem to be a sort of introspective therapy. Throughout his writings and life history there is much evidence to suggest that his poetry
was greatly influenced by his mental instability. In many ways, Byron seems to use his work as an escape from a difficult reality.
The lengthy poem Don Juan...show more content...
Byron's attorney, rescued him from the unnatural affections of May Grey, the tortures of Lavender and uneven temper of his mother.
The effects of his early experiences were to be felt by the poet for many years. "The consequences of these tortured episodes blend into his entire life
in the anticipated melancholy that he always experience (Eisler 41)."At seventeen he entered Cambridge University. Determined to overcome his
physical handicap, Byron became a good rider, swimmer, boxer, and marksman. He enjoyed literature but cared little for other subjects. After
graduation he embarked on a grand tour that supplied inspiration for many of his later works.
Of the many poems in which Byron reveals details from his own experiences, Don Juan offers the most intimate look into the life of the artist.Canto
I of Don Juan describes Juan's mother, Donna Inez as being a woman who look'd a lecture, each eye a sermon (Longman 577)." Donna Inez watched
carefully over every detail of her son's education and Catherine Byron did the same for her son, attempting in her clumsy way to provide Byron with
preparation for life as a member of the gentry. "Mrs. Byron became obsessed with making her son perfect and he in turn submitted stoically to various
forms of torture (Grosskurth 29)." Although the description of Donna Inez is often interpreted as being directed at Byron's ex–wife, much of Inez's

Don Juan Superman
The image of Don Juan is highly popular among many writers. However, every author writing his vision of this character includes something new to
the characteristic of this person. The story of Don Juan is seen from another perspective in Shavian "Don Juan in Hell", which is a part of Man and
Superman, but can be viewed as separate play at all. The most important emphasis is made here on the philosophy, but depiction ofHell as Shaw sees it
plays a large role.
The Hell is in the understanding of author and awful place where time does not function, and solitude is the only way of life. The Devil is there the
main person, and he is said to be the best in society. The hell by Bernhard Shaw teaches us that there can be no small sins. Everything

What Is Constantly Introspective
Constantly introspective my practice is a series of contradictions concerning text, the public and the private, personal histories, concrete poetry, and
material fixations. Torn between concealing and revealing, my practice is trapped in a permanent state of vulnerability with slivers of personal
assurance allowing confronting texts to be read and interpreted by viewers. In an attempt to transform my flat two dimensional writings into tangible
objects I have started to approach different materials such as fabric and artist books that are created to be held and felt. Conceptually my practice is
concerned with the connections that people have to the diaristic and the multitude of ways that they engage with their own vulnerabilities, either...show

consciousness writing that has dominated my practice for the last two years. The work is comprised of four sheets of different orange fabrics that are
120 by 100 cm each. Embroidered in orange cotton on the sheets is text written in terrible confessional and pathetic conversation part two: warm under
orange; the second book in a series of carefully constructed personal writings about trauma, vulnerability, anger, and beauty. By embroidering these
confessions onto fabric I combine the obsessive act of writing with my material obsession with fabric, pulling the words out of the paper and
re–reflecting on their meaning through time intensive stitching. Automatic writing is an outlet for quick release, the writing is immediately lost to the
importance of the next word and offers opportunities to hide the brutal and embarrassing content of the writing. However, in terrible confessional and
pathetic conversation the passages go through three stages: writing, editing, and transforming. Through these processes these passages become open
wounds that leak my personal shame, fear and anxiety into the work, altering the way I react with the words and how I choose to transform them.

Orwell's Thematic Statement About Society in 1984
Spanish Civil War Veteran, teacher, London slum investigator, and writer– even early on, George Orwell lead an active life full of variety and worldly
experience, which cultured his strongly socialistic political stance and initiated a passion to see the demolition of tyranny. In an introspective essay
titled "Why I Write," Orwell states that every serious work he published from the 1930's onward had "been written, directly or indirectly, against
Totalitarianism and for Democratic Socialism" ("Why I Write"). By incorporating these very experiences and beliefs into 1984 along with relating the
novel to the political happenings of the time, Orwell creates interconnected themes and symbols to make a statement about society as a warning for the
future of Totalitarian Regimes.
The construct of class distinctions in 1984 is the thematic element into which Orwell most obviously injects his personal insight. Though born of a
distinguished upper–middle class family, Orwell had an unusually eclectic understanding of the trials and tribulations of both the upper and lower
classes. Using his birthright to his advantage, he noted as an upper–middle class member how neglected and irrelevant the lower class could become in
the eyes of upper–class radicals. However, he did not agree with his high–up heritage and succumb to the pompous condescension of the lower class like

Cooley And Mead 's Theories
As humans grow and develop, we become more complex and structured through the process of interaction and communication. Socialization becomes
an important key in understanding society and individuals while also getting a glimpse into evolution and progression. Articles by Mead and Cooley
provide different perspectives on the human advancement of the "self'" by looking at early stages of development and maturation. The idea of social
self and socialization allows for individuals to build their identity and connect with society. The importance of social relations is seen in various
cultures and communities, and without socialization, society would cease to exist at all. History has shown that humans have the ability to learn and
adapt when it comes to emotions, creativity, and physical features. It is important to realize the importance of evolutionary theories and beliefs to look
at the developments of the past and the future in regards to Cooley and Mead's ideas. In this essay, I will explain the main ideas of both Cooley and
Mead and eventually draw in evolutionary growth through their perspectives and through the study of Kanzi. This essay will rectify the notion that
evolution and sociology are not of importance and will show the impact that sociology has on the evolving world. Charles Horton Cooley was a shy
and introverted sociologist who wanted to better understand human behavior. In the development of the self, Charles Horton Cooley was one of the

Critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of introspection as a method for investigating psychological phenomenon
Introspection has an incredibly large history with the first record of it being used going right back to the great Greek philosophers such as Plato and
Aristotle, however this was in a philosophical sense about discovering oneself (Boring, E. G. 1953) which lead to the scientific methodology being
born in the laboratory of arguably the father of psychology Wilhelm Wundt who used the method to measure peoples internal thought processes when
presented with various stimuli in which the subject would self–perceive their internal thought processes and describe them to the experimenter. An
example of this would be to present the subject with an object such as a pencil or odour and to describe it and their stream of consciousness as a result of
this. Whereas Edward Titchener expanded this somewhat to break down the stream of consciousness to find its component parts and so as such when
having to describe the item they could not say the item as that was to make a stimulus error and did not achieve anything and instead had to describe
it in individual parts such as length, colour, shape and other such characteristics of the item however even these were frowned upon with more
emphasis being put on the statements such as it is causing feelings of sorrow and tension within my body (Boring, E. G. 1953). However the definition
of this process seems to be somewhat fluid

A Positive Perspective On Life Essay
It's not always easy to keep a positive perspective on life. Most of us choose to use positive phrases and statements to try and forget about all of the
negativity that life throws at us and to feel good about ourselves, while other people send a diseased ripple effect of the complete opposite. Have you
ever thought about giving up; on not only school but some other things and maybe just life in general? If yes then you are definitely not alone, and
if not well then good for you not everyone is as fortunate as you. Unfortunately for most of us, giving up at this point in time is not really an option
anymore. We have all come too far to then just give up and fall by the wayside. Why do some seemingly bright people not do as well as could be
expected, while other less fortunate people reach their dreams and goals in life? Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "The future belongs to those who
believe in the beauty of their dreams". Which basically means that if you can dream it, you can do it. Don't let anyone else tell you what you can and
can't do. You are who you become– your future and what you do with it is up to you and only you.
On February the first 2012 all of us started our first day of our five–year journey in Waiopehu College. These past five years have not been easy for me.
When I look back on every year, all I remember is being quite unwell in year nine, and then the illnesses continuing and worsening right up until this
point in time. And all of you may be thinking

In all honesty, I wasn't very surprised by my results. In the past I've taken similar tests and have come upon similar results and additionally have seen
these qualities through introspective assessment. While there was several categories in the results, I have decided to simply explore three of my
highest scores. The highest resulting score for me was under the Interpersonal category, coming in at 63%. In terms of real world application, it is

My Beliefs On Teaching And Learning
My beliefs have influenced my ideologies on teaching and learning positively. I have always been encouraged by my family and community to attend
school and do my best to learn new material. Though, I do believe that if I were to encounter someone who believed that teaching and learning were
not as important then this would hinder my view on education because I was always taught the opposite.
I believe that a respectable teacher relates to their student and embraces their student's diverse cultural backgrounds and become culturally responsive.
It is important to learn about each student's culture and how it affects their learning, self–esteem, and perceptions. With this newfound knowledge, you
can incorporate it into your teaching to increase the student's participation and engagement. This will create a better student–teacher relationship when
they know you care and are interested in their life.
I personally do not believe we as teachers have the responsibility to change our student's beliefs, however we have the responsibility of teaching our
students about diversity and other cultures. Teachers need to be aware and accepting of other cultures to successfully teach our students from different
backgrounds.
I have had both positive and negative experiences during my educational journey. I believe that learning is a huge component to life because we learn
new things daily. Learning allows us to grow as a person, develop knowledge and improve yourself. I also believe that

Don Juan Analysis
Don Juan's valet, Sgnarelle had a more than enough gossip to share with another mistress's valet for whom his master, Don Juan, had "promised"
to marry in the passage. The fact of the matter is Sgnarelle holds no reservations in his hyperbolic assessment of Don Juan's moral character and
his values in promising himself to anything or anyone if it means a return of personal pleasure, going as far to say that his master would marry the
valet, a cat, or dog if he so desired it. Moliere compares Don Juan to the late Greek philosopher Epicurus, who believed in the material world, and
that one's primary goal in life should be fixed toward their own personal pleasure; as well as comparing him to the last Assyrian king,
Sardanapalus, who led the same lifestyle as Epicurus, devoting himself to his own personal desires and pleasure, and was burned alive in a pyre.
Could this be Moliere's foreshadowing that Don Juan will meet the same demise as this king, because he is living the same lifestyle? Prior to any
introductions of the lead character, Don Juan, Moliere approaches this initiation by degenerating the honor and name of Don Juan by the man with
whom he seems to trust the most with his accords. Sgnarelle is exceptionally fond of the word "marry" which he uses five times alone in this passage,
as if Moliere was trying to get across that the audience should be expecting more marriage in the text to come. Moliere's use of tautology builds this
idea and conceptualization of Don Juan

Introspection Essay
The dictionary describes introspection as the examination or observation of one's own mental and emotional processes. Kevin Woods stated,
"Introspection are all about getting to know yourself at the core, uncovering your values and then deciding for yourself what's the best action to
take." Your emotions and feelings play a major role in why we do things. If we listen to our feelings then we can find more things about us that we
didn't know. This could benefit us and help us appreciate more things and live but also may make us overthink some times. Karl Perera mentioned,
"Introspection is good in small doses. If you are feeling very tired or have no energy and can't find a solution as things keep rolling through your mind
over and over then it is time to stop." Overall, everyone connects with things differently; it is interesting to notice how you feel in certain situations.

One's dream and aspirations to supersede in life must be stronger and greater than limitations set forth by others. The experience that were bestowed

To be the person that I am now, I had to reflect and accept accountability of my past actions. My past is one that many would love to erase from
their memory, a past, which remained dormant, until I found myself. The steps involved in regaining myself encompassed letting go of my anger and

My last year in college, changed the whole course of my life. Near the end of my junior year, I befriended a guy, who never would become my
boyfriend. I knew he was infatuated with me, so I lead him on. He ended up stalking me and making several death threats. I never understood the

report and wait. This was a very frightening time in my life and consequently I became very disconnected with life. I never provided TPD with my
stalker's name, in fear that he would kill me if I did. I moved to a different apartment complex across town, thinking that it would make all my
problems go away. He ended up finding me and making more serious death threats against me and my family if I didn't leave Tallahassee.

Reflection On Mental Health
INTRODUCTION (65)
This essay discusses how my culture and the media has impacted on my beliefs and attitudes towards mental health and illness. Furthermore, the
importance of self–reflection and self–awareness of oneself in order to provide professional nursing care was highlighted. All these critical skills were
then hypothetically interpreted into the context of my future clinical nursing practices in order to emphasize the importance of these skills.
DISCUSSION (914)
The concept of mental health and illness is dependent on an individual's cultural and/or socioeconomic background (O'Brien, 2013). I believe that the
concept of health is much more than physical health. I perceive health as a balance between the mental and physical state. When a disturbance occurs
to this homeostasis, it leads to mental illness. Prior to commencing this unit, I identified mental illness as an illness that occurs due to poor mental
well–being and therefore, remains as a permanent illness. I perceived individuals with mental illness to come across as aggressive, violent, and have an
intellectual disability. For my mental well–being, I do my best to obtain a well–balanced diet which includes three meals a day. Involve myself in
regular physical activities such as going for walks, doing Pilates or yoga. I also enjoy doing some mindfulness activities and meditations in order to
deal with stress and negative emotions.
My beliefs and attitudes in regards to mental health and illness are mostly

Essay On Who I Am Today
Throughout my senior year, I have had the opportunity to write numerous introspective essays in a feeble attempt to demonstrate to colleges the
most important aspects of my personality. As a result, today I have opted to take a different focus. Instead of describing solely who I am, I would
like to focus on how I have become who I am today. My beliefs have been shaped and altered on countless occasions, and I believe it is of the utmost
importance to identify the people and events that have created large impacts on my set of beliefs in order to firmly determine those beliefs.
Growing up on Mercer Island, I have often faced a rigid set of expectations presented to me by my parents and friends, yet I rarely pause to consider
the consequences of blindly following these expectations. For most of my life, I have identified with characters similar to Ophelia. I have consistently
been a rule–follower and have followed the path laid out for me. Up until this point, I believe the forced direction has positively influenced my life. I
have family, friends, and mentors who love me and care about my well–being. I live a safe and comfortable life, and I am perfectly willing to ask for
help. However, this guidance can also be stifling. As I try to uncover my most significant beliefs, I have discovered that so much of my personality is
based on others that I hardly know who I am myself.
Next fall, when I arrive at college in Evanston, Illinois, I can count the number of people

Essay About Myself
There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual
self is interesting because I am mainly right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also making me
a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am
with my friends, I observe their behaviors and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people has
influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. I have learned things that have now been incorporated into my own set of beliefs and

major role in my life. They are whom I spend most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very open
to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by
various people, I've learned at a very young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have learned
these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have
to say, and then contribute to the discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a group, because it
gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my
spiritual self is the most important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe in a bit of

Essay About Byrons Don Juan

  • 1. Essay about Byrons Don Juan Byron's Don Juan One writer who has not recieved nearly enough credit for his works is George Gordon, who later became known as Lord Byron. This is the man who wrote his own poetical version of Don Juan. Don Juan is a man who is known for being able to arouse the desires of women and to love every one he meets. This Don Juan can be viewed, however, as a loosely disguised biography of Byron. Lord Byron's father, Captain John, has ancestors that go back as far as the Buruns in the time of William the Conqueror. Back in this time it was very common for people to marry their own cousins. Captain John was married three times and was considered to be very smooth with the ladies....show more content... He soon had another affair with a woman named Mary Gray. Soon hereafter he was involved with many liaisons with such women as Lady Caroline Lamb and then Lady Oxford. Then just as Byron was beginning to live his life the way he had always wanted to, his mother dies in 1811. The following year he became immensely fashionable and notorious. By 1813 he had began another affair with his half– sister Augusta. Continuing his search for the woman of his dreams, he marrys Anabella Milbanke in 1815 and has a daughter the same year. The next year Lady Byron leaves him to visit her parents and never returns. Separation papers are signed and he begins another liaison with Claire Clairmont. The following year(1817), they have a baby named Allegra. Not too long after this he falls in love with yet another woman, named Marianna Segati. His next love happened two years later, Countess Teresa Guiccioli. Many say she was his last love and his first. Byron met Teresa at an evening party. They soon began meeting secretly because she was married to Count Alessandro Guiccioli. She had auburn curls, large lovely eyes, beautifully shaped shoulders and arms, and an abundant bosom. She was completely intrigued by Byron's beauty. Maybe they both felt that fate brought them together. It was customary in the code of serventismo for a married woman to have a lover and the husband wasn't

  • 3. Mental Health Reflection Over the course of this semester I have gained so much knowledge and my understanding of mental health has changed completely. I am thankful for everything that I have learned throughout the semester, and getting to hear my peer's perspective on mental health helped me develop my own understanding. ARTICULATING YOURLEARNING: In the beginning of the semester my perspective on mental health was very different than what it has become now. When the semester started my view on mental health was that it was on recovery and how that is such a critical aspect in mental health, especially when thinking about mental disorders. My perspective has not changed in the sense that i still believe that recovery is important. However, my perspective has...show more content... Specifically when looking at challenges that people when mental illness face I believe that the reason why it's hard for people to face their challenges due to things such as stigma, and how they view themselves. When people feel bad about themselves they have a hard time finding the drive to change what they want change, because they might not feel like they have the ability to. Furthermore, there is a lot of stigma around people who have mental illness which can sometimes make it difficult for individuals to be able to face these challenges. This could be because they don't see the point in trying to recover due to the fact that the stigma is never going to change. What can help people face their challenges is having a good support system, and also society changing the stigma on people with mental illness so that it is not in such a negative light. The next comment that I wanted to reflect on was also from my book critique, and it asked me to think about how my perspective on the lack of recourses for people with mental illnesses influences my view on mental illnesses. I believe it effects my perspective on mental illness because I believe there is more that can be done to help people with mental illness, and therefore it does not seem fair that they do not even have Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Don Juan As Byron Introspective Essay The works of George Gordon, Lord Byron have long been controversial, nearly as controversial as his lifestyle. Gordon Byron was born with a clubfoot and his sensitivity to it haunted his life and his works. Despite being a very handsome child, a fragile self–esteem made Byron extremely sensitive to criticism, of himself or of his poetry and he tended to make enemies rather quickly. The young Byron was often unhappy and lonely any many of his works seem to be a sort of introspective therapy. Throughout his writings and life history there is much evidence to suggest that his poetry was greatly influenced by his mental instability. "The consequences of these tortured episodes blend into his entire life in the anticipated melancholy that he always experience (Eisler 41)."At seventeen he entered Cambridge University. Determined to overcome his physical handicap, Byron became a good rider, swimmer, boxer, and marksman. He enjoyed literature but cared little for other subjects. After graduation he embarked on a grand tour that supplied inspiration for many of his later works. Of the many poems in which Byron reveals details from his own experiences, Don Juan offers the most intimate look into the life of the artist.Canto I of Don Juan describes Juan's mother, Donna Inez as being a woman who look'd a lecture, each eye a sermon (Longman 577)." Donna Inez watched carefully over every detail of her son's education and Catherine Byron did the same for her son, attempting in her clumsy way to provide Byron with preparation for life as a member of the gentry. "Mrs. Byron became obsessed with making her son perfect and he in turn submitted stoically to various forms of torture (Grosskurth 29)." Although the description of Donna Inez is often interpreted as being directed at Byron's ex–wife, much of Inez's personality is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Don Juan Superman The image of Don Juan is highly popular among many writers. However, every author writing his vision of this character includes something new to the characteristic of this person. The story of Don Juan is seen from another perspective in Shavian "Don Juan in Hell", which is a part of Man and Superman, but can be viewed as separate play at all. The most important emphasis is made here on the philosophy, but depiction ofHell as Shaw sees it plays a large role. The Hell is in the understanding of author and awful place where time does not function, and solitude is the only way of life. The Devil is there the main person, and he is said to be the best in society. The hell by Bernhard Shaw teaches us that there can be no small sins. Everything Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. What Is Constantly Introspective Constantly introspective my practice is a series of contradictions concerning text, the public and the private, personal histories, concrete poetry, and material fixations. Torn between concealing and revealing, my practice is trapped in a permanent state of vulnerability with slivers of personal assurance allowing confronting texts to be read and interpreted by viewers. In an attempt to transform my flat two dimensional writings into tangible objects I have started to approach different materials such as fabric and artist books that are created to be held and felt. Conceptually my practice is concerned with the connections that people have to the diaristic and the multitude of ways that they engage with their own vulnerabilities, either...show more content... warm under orange (fabricated) is a textile piece that analyses the reflective process of selective writing and its comparison to the automatic, stream of consciousness writing that has dominated my practice for the last two years. Embroidered in orange cotton on the sheets is text written in terrible confessional and pathetic conversation part two: warm under orange; the second book in a series of carefully constructed personal writings about trauma, vulnerability, anger, and beauty. By embroidering these confessions onto fabric I combine the obsessive act of writing with my material obsession with fabric, pulling the words out of the paper and re–reflecting on their meaning through time intensive stitching. Automatic writing is an outlet for quick release, the writing is immediately lost to the importance of the next word and offers opportunities to hide the brutal and embarrassing content of the writing. However, in terrible confessional and pathetic conversation the passages go through three stages: writing, editing, and transforming. Through these processes these passages become open wounds that leak my personal shame, fear and anxiety into the work, altering the way I react with the words and how I choose to transform them. warm under orange (ripples) is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Analysis Of George Orwell 's ' Why I Write ' Zoe Sawyer Ms. McBee AP Literature and Composition 29 October 2014 Orwell's Thematic Statement About Society in 1984 Spanish Civil War Veteran, teacher, London slum investigator, and writer– even early on, George Orwell lead an active life full of variety and worldly experience, which cultured his strongly socialistic political stance and initiated a passion to see the demolition of tyranny. In an introspective essay titled "Why I Write," Orwell states that every serious work he published from the 1930's onward had "been written, directly or indirectly, against Totalitarianism and for Democratic Socialism" ("Why I Write"). By incorporating these very experiences and beliefs into 1984 along with relating the novel to the political happenings of the time, Orwell creates interconnected themes and symbols to make a statement about society as a warning for the future of Totalitarian Regimes. The construct of class distinctions in 1984 is the thematic element into which Orwell most obviously injects his personal insight. Though born of a distinguished upper–middle class family, Orwell had an unusually eclectic understanding of the trials and tribulations of both the upper and lower classes. Using his birthright to his advantage, he noted as an upper–middle class member how neglected and irrelevant the lower class could become in the eyes of upper–class radicals. However, he did not agree with his high–up heritage and succumb to the pompous condescension of the lower class like Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Cooley And Mead 's Theories As humans grow and develop, we become more complex and structured through the process of interaction and communication. Socialization becomes an important key in understanding society and individuals while also getting a glimpse into evolution and progression. Articles by Mead and Cooley provide different perspectives on the human advancement of the "self'" by looking at early stages of development and maturation. The idea of social self and socialization allows for individuals to build their identity and connect with society. The importance of social relations is seen in various cultures and communities, and without socialization, society would cease to exist at all. History has shown that humans have the ability to learn and adapt when it comes to emotions, creativity, and physical features. It is important to realize the importance of evolutionary theories and beliefs to look at the developments of the past and the future in regards to Cooley and Mead's ideas. In this essay, I will explain the main ideas of both Cooley and Mead and eventually draw in evolutionary growth through their perspectives and through the study of Kanzi. This essay will rectify the notion that evolution and sociology are not of importance and will show the impact that sociology has on the evolving world. Charles Horton Cooley was a shy and introverted sociologist who wanted to better understand human behavior. • 9. Critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of introspection as a method for investigating psychological phenomenon Introspection has an incredibly large history with the first record of it being used going right back to the great Greek philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle, however this was in a philosophical sense about discovering oneself (Boring, E. G. 1953) which lead to the scientific methodology being born in the laboratory of arguably the father of psychology Wilhelm Wundt who used the method to measure peoples internal thought processes when presented with various stimuli in which the subject would self–perceive their internal thought processes and describe them to the experimenter. An example of this would be to present the subject with an object such as a pencil or odour and to describe it and their stream of consciousness as a result of this. Whereas Edward Titchener expanded this somewhat to break down the stream of consciousness to find its component parts and so as such when having to describe the item they could not say the item as that was to make a stimulus error and did not achieve anything and instead had to describe it in individual parts such as length, colour, shape and other such characteristics of the item however even these were frowned upon with more emphasis being put on the statements such as it is causing feelings of sorrow and tension within my body (Boring, E. G. 1953). However the definition of this process seems to be somewhat fluid Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. A Positive Perspective On Life Essay It's not always easy to keep a positive perspective on life. Most of us choose to use positive phrases and statements to try and forget about all of the negativity that life throws at us and to feel good about ourselves, while other people send a diseased ripple effect of the complete opposite. Have you ever thought about giving up; on not only school but some other things and maybe just life in general? If yes then you are definitely not alone, and if not well then good for you not everyone is as fortunate as you. Unfortunately for most of us, giving up at this point in time is not really an option anymore. We have all come too far to then just give up and fall by the wayside. Why do some seemingly bright people not do as well as could be expected, while other less fortunate people reach their dreams and goals in life? Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams". Which basically means that if you can dream it, you can do it. Don't let anyone else tell you what you can and can't do. You are who you become– your future and what you do with it is up to you and only you. On February the first 2012 all of us started our first day of our five–year journey in Waiopehu College. These past five years have not been easy for me. When I look back on every year, all I remember is being quite unwell in year nine, and then the illnesses continuing and worsening right up until this point in time. And all of you may be thinking Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The highest resulting score for me was under the Interpersonal category, coming in at 63%. In terms of real world application, it is highly beneficial skill to have in any work environment. • 12. My Beliefs On Teaching And Learning My beliefs have influenced my ideologies on teaching and learning positively. I have always been encouraged by my family and community to attend school and do my best to learn new material. Though, I do believe that if I were to encounter someone who believed that teaching and learning were not as important then this would hinder my view on education because I was always taught the opposite. I believe that a respectable teacher relates to their student and embraces their student's diverse cultural backgrounds and become culturally responsive. It is important to learn about each student's culture and how it affects their learning, self–esteem, and perceptions. With this newfound knowledge, you can incorporate it into your teaching to increase the student's participation and engagement. This will create a better student–teacher relationship when they know you care and are interested in their life. I personally do not believe we as teachers have the responsibility to change our student's beliefs, however we have the responsibility of teaching our students about diversity and other cultures. Teachers need to be aware and accepting of other cultures to successfully teach our students from different backgrounds. I have had both positive and negative experiences during my educational journey. I believe that learning is a huge component to life because we learn new things daily. Learning allows us to grow as a person, develop knowledge and improve yourself. I also believe that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Don Juan Analysis Don Juan's valet, Sgnarelle had a more than enough gossip to share with another mistress's valet for whom his master, Don Juan, had "promised" to marry in the passage. The fact of the matter is Sgnarelle holds no reservations in his hyperbolic assessment of Don Juan's moral character and his values in promising himself to anything or anyone if it means a return of personal pleasure, going as far to say that his master would marry the valet, a cat, or dog if he so desired it. Moliere compares Don Juan to the late Greek philosopher Epicurus, who believed in the material world, and that one's primary goal in life should be fixed toward their own personal pleasure; as well as comparing him to the last Assyrian king, Sardanapalus, who led the same lifestyle as Epicurus, devoting himself to his own personal desires and pleasure, and was burned alive in a pyre. Could this be Moliere's foreshadowing that Don Juan will meet the same demise as this king, because he is living the same lifestyle? Prior to any introductions of the lead character, Don Juan, Moliere approaches this initiation by degenerating the honor and name of Don Juan by the man with whom he seems to trust the most with his accords. Sgnarelle is exceptionally fond of the word "marry" which he uses five times alone in this passage, as if Moliere was trying to get across that the audience should be expecting more marriage in the text to come. Moliere's use of tautology builds this idea and conceptualization of Don Juan Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Introspection Essay The dictionary describes introspection as the examination or observation of one's own mental and emotional processes. Kevin Woods stated, "Introspection are all about getting to know yourself at the core, uncovering your values and then deciding for yourself what's the best action to take." Your emotions and feelings play a major role in why we do things. If we listen to our feelings then we can find more things about us that we didn't know. This could benefit us and help us appreciate more things and live but also may make us overthink some times. Karl Perera mentioned, "Introspection is good in small doses. If you are feeling very tired or have no energy and can't find a solution as things keep rolling through your mind over and over then it is time to stop." Overall, everyone connects with things differently; it is interesting to notice how you feel in certain situations. I recently just lost a ring that was given to me a couple years ago. I was devastated and felt irresponsible. I have always wanted a Pandora Ring so this devastation led me to get one. I did a little research to figure which one I wanted on the Pandora website. • 15. Reflection Of My Life Essay One's dream and aspirations to supersede in life must be stronger and greater than limitations set forth by others. The experience that were bestowed to me during my short life has elevated me to the woman I am today. Please walk with me as I give you the opportunity to see the world from my eyes: To be the person that I am now, I had to reflect and accept accountability of my past actions. My past is one that many would love to erase from their memory, a past, which remained dormant, until I found myself. The steps involved in regaining myself encompassed letting go of my anger and self pity. I had to look within myself and see my self's worth, which lead to my belief that I ran away to college to forget my past. During the years ...show more content... Put education first and everything else will fall into place." I didn't realize how true these words were, until I came face to face with my past. My last year in college, changed the whole course of my life. Near the end of my junior year, I befriended a guy, who never would become my boyfriend. I knew he was infatuated with me, so I lead him on. He ended up stalking me and making several death threats. I never understood the phrase "in fear of your life", until then. Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) got involved but there wasn't much they could do except file a police report and wait. This was a very frightening time in my life and consequently I became very disconnected with life. I never provided TPD with my stalker's name, in fear that he would kill me if I did. I moved to a different apartment complex across town, thinking that it would make all my problems go away. He ended up finding me and making more serious death threats against me and my family if I didn't leave Tallahassee. I had a mental breakdown after the last death threat and I left Florida State University my senior year, I went back home to deal with my traumatic ordeal. I quickly transferred to Florida International University and graduated the following year with my graduating class at Florida State. • 16. Reflection On Mental Health INTRODUCTION (65) This essay discusses how my culture and the media has impacted on my beliefs and attitudes towards mental health and illness. Furthermore, the importance of self–reflection and self–awareness of oneself in order to provide professional nursing care was highlighted. All these critical skills were then hypothetically interpreted into the context of my future clinical nursing practices in order to emphasize the importance of these skills. DISCUSSION (914) The concept of mental health and illness is dependent on an individual's cultural and/or socioeconomic background (O'Brien, 2013). I believe that the concept of health is much more than physical health. I perceive health as a balance between the mental and physical state. When a disturbance occurs to this homeostasis, it leads to mental illness. Prior to commencing this unit, I identified mental illness as an illness that occurs due to poor mental well–being and therefore, remains as a permanent illness. I perceived individuals with mental illness to come across as aggressive, violent, and have an intellectual disability. For my mental well–being, I do my best to obtain a well–balanced diet which includes three meals a day. Involve myself in regular physical activities such as going for walks, doing Pilates or yoga. I also enjoy doing some mindfulness activities and meditations in order to deal with stress and negative emotions. My beliefs and attitudes in regards to mental health and illness are mostly Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Essay On Who I Am Today Throughout my senior year, I have had the opportunity to write numerous introspective essays in a feeble attempt to demonstrate to colleges the most important aspects of my personality. As a result, today I have opted to take a different focus. Instead of describing solely who I am, I would like to focus on how I have become who I am today. My beliefs have been shaped and altered on countless occasions, and I believe it is of the utmost importance to identify the people and events that have created large impacts on my set of beliefs in order to firmly determine those beliefs. Growing up on Mercer Island, I have often faced a rigid set of expectations presented to me by my parents and friends, yet I rarely pause to consider the consequences of blindly following these expectations. For most of my life, I have identified with characters similar to Ophelia. I have consistently been a rule–follower and have followed the path laid out for me. Up until this point, I believe the forced direction has positively influenced my life. I have family, friends, and mentors who love me and care about my well–being. I live a safe and comfortable life, and I am perfectly willing to ask for help. However, this guidance can also be stifling. As I try to uncover my most significant beliefs, I have discovered that so much of my personality is based on others that I hardly know who I am myself. Next fall, when I arrive at college in Evanston, Illinois, I can count the number of people Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Essay About Myself There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people has influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. I have learned things that have now been incorporated into my own set of beliefs and ...show more content... A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter how many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is most greatly influenced by my family and friends.
