A Good Persuasive Speech
The Great Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another". I come before you today to
recruit soldiers. Soldiers combating a variety of deadly diseases that must be destroyed. Over the past 25 years, I have cured thousands from
Tuberculosis and AIDS, saving their lives. I am not sure how much longer I can possibly take catching two flights to and from Haiti some days.
However, I would not have it any other way. I enjoy tending to those in need, and refuse to stop at anything to save lives. (Kidder, 24) I understand
that this town is extremely lucky and full of success. From the lavish houses to the top–of–the–line cars motoring down Powder Point, Duxbury is a
truly amazing place. I am not asking all of you to help me, but I am asking you to consider. Mission trips will broaden your perspectives, get you
out of your comfort zone, and create lifelong relationships. Looking past the diseases and poverty lays a tropical island full of potential and beauty.
However, this potential lies in the hands of those who are willing to help make change. (Kidder, 164) For many people, especially young adults, it is
important to have a healthy perspective on the world around them. Students who reside in this lovely town are often associated with being in this
"bubble" of lavishness and affluence. By coming on this trip alongside a few colleagues from PIH and I, you will have a fresh and renewed outlook on
life. You'll soon

Persuasive Essay On A Good Life
People have different images of how a "good life" in our consumer–driven, constantly connected and the globalized world looks like due to the
discordant definition of what a good life entails. Hence, there are "sensitizing" questions that we consider. First is whether people are the best judges of
their own well–being. This involves subjective versus objective measures of well–being. Subjective perspective contains a self–reported judgment
where individuals express feeling about themselves. Whereas objective measures of well–being are based on external criteria. For example, ways of
living, fashion, choice of food and etc. The second question debates if a good life is a moment enjoyed or a life well–lived. A moment is understood as
being present in the now and mindful of the surroundings. For instance, enjoying the nature and time with their families. Whereas a life well–lived is
based on different people's perspective. For example, describing each day as their first day for the rest of their life. Lastly, is whether happiness is linked
with virtue and can one be happy without being ethical. This argues if people have to be compassionate in order for them to be happy. The latter
statement involves thinking of the study of principles that underlies human behavior. For example, realizing that Nike is using child labor, would you
still be happy to purchase their products. It would be unethical to support child labor. However, some people believe that the pursuit of pleasure is

Persuasive Essay
"Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will
be choosing topics," announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the
prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give
examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell
the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of
anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always
thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly
dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such desperate times,
my mind turned to food. "Waffles are better than pancakes." I figured that a waffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. "Hmm.
Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!" I survived to live yet another day. As I walked to lunch, I went around and asked everyone the age old
question: "Do you like

Persuasive Essay On The Art Of Art
Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and communicate to the world in a way that gives
them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border
this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to
the fact that many people have varying definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly indecent.
Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene, from appreciation to detail on the human figure or
the unique renditions of animalistic interaction. However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as a unique
interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly
for a conservative Christian compared to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely range in their
obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If an image offends very many people, sooner or later someone
will invoke the law, and along with it judges, legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill Henson scandal:
notes on the new cultural attitude to images. Here we have a majority rule, where an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people
want change. Such censorship is easy to determine when there are pieces depicting derogatory themes, such as child pornography or racial notions.
But there are multiple cases where there are two sides of the story, and it is not as simple.
A statue named Truth is Beauty by Marco Cochrane has recently been constructed in the city of San Leandro, here in the bay area. This statue depicts a
nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric, and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know that
she is supposed to be depicted as naked. A completely naked figure,

Title of Speech: Mental Health Speaker Role/ Audience: Advocate the importance of addressing mental health in schools. Thesis: Mental health is one
of the largest problems students face on a daily basis, and in order to best help them, we need to implement serious and frequent discussions about
mental health. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– INTRO: Attention Getting Device: Every year, about 42.5 million American adults
(or 18.2 percent of the total adult population in the United States) suffers from some mental illness, enduring conditions such as depression, bipolar
disorder or schizophrenia, statistics reveal. (newsweek.com) Purpose/Thesis: To persuade you all the importance of including mental health
awareness in schools. Credibility: I have dealt with anxiety my entire life. Because I was not aware of what I had for so long and I did not have
any help, I suffered and so did multiple aspects of my academic career. Justification: "The answer, based on the prevalence of mental illness globally,
is stunning: 8 million people die each year due to mental illness. That is, 8 million deaths could be averted if people with mental illness were to die at
the same rate as the general population." (NIMH) Preview of Main Points: Today I will show you the dangers of not explicitly discussing mental health
in school, what students will gain from discussing mental health, and inform you what you can do to make this happen. Transition: First, let us discuss
the danger of not including mental health in students' education. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– BODY: Need: According to
nami.org, approximately 1 in 5 youth aged 13–18 (21.4%) experiences a severe mental disorder at some point during their life. For children aged 8–15,
the estimate is 13%. Research has found that about 90% of individuals who die by suicide experience a mental illness. Social anxiety affects about 15
million individuals across America, most cases start around the age of 13. They often suffer anxiety, difficulty focusing and social challenges. Half of
them drop out of high school, in part because many schools don't manage to meet their needs. (pbs.org) Although mental health illnesses affects so
many kids aged 6–17, a least

Persuasive Essay On Coffee
Coffee is one of the most popular beverages worldwide. Eighty–three percent of Americans drink coffee daily, and some more than one cup. Coffee is
made by the grinding of roasted coffee seeds, also known as coffee beans, adding hot water allowing it to flow through the coffee grinds. Coffee was
traditionally introduced as an energy booster to get people through the day. Today, coffee is also a social mechanism where people feel required to drink
it every day. The aspect that makes coffee so addictive is the caffeine. Caffeine is not addictive the way meth or cocaine is but regular use of caffeine
as a stimulate, can cause mild physical dependence. However, coffee is addicting it does allow many health benefits. Coffee can reduce the risk
of type two diabetes and increase the possibility of preventing oral cancers. But like all good things, drinking coffee should not be abused, like
coach Phil from Kicking & Screaming, who throughout the main part of the movie, chugged cups after cups of cappuccinos. Drinking a large
amount of coffee does pose several cons. A con of coffee is an increase in anxiety, and have a negative effect on prescribed medicine. Although many
only use coffees to boost energy early in the morning, this drink can be used to help with problems. Coffee can reduce the risk of type two diabetes,
which is important when living in the world today. Type two diabetes is a very serious and complicated condition, coffee helps control one's blood and

Persuasive Speech On Social Media Essay
Purpose: To persuade my audience to minimize their phone usage. Thesis: Stay in the present moment, don't let yourself believe you're going to forget
a memory because you didn't document it through social media. Claim: Policy Organizational Pattern: Problem–Solution I. Introduction A. Attention
Getter: Four Years of your life is wasted to what's sitting inside all of your pockets right now; your cellphone. The average person spends roughly
90 minutes a day playing on their phone, whether it's checking emails, Snapchatting or scrolling through your Twitter feed. According to The
Dailymail.com we unlock our phones at least 110 times per day! We've become almost dependent on these devices over time, and it needs to stop.
We rely on our phones everyday to wake us up for school and to know the time of day. B. Relevance: We live in a world of ever changing
technology. Products are always getting upgraded every year and everyone wants the biggest and newest thing on the market. It's hard to not get
caught up in all the buzz of things. We feel almost "naked" without our phones; our attachment to them is overwhelming. Without them we feel as
though we're missing out on what's happening in the world. Our heads are always down; our thumbs are always swiping up and down on our
newsfeed. We're living a life that is more involved in someone else's social media accounts than our own. C. Credibility: As a student at this university

Persuasive Speech On Freedom Of Speech
Although it is a Constitutional right, freedom of speech has been a widely debated topic since its establishment in 1791. It seems that the idea of
"freedom of speech" really stands for "saying what you want as long as it doesn't offend anyone". Free speech is an important foundation of our
country, and should especially be welcomed in higher education. Censorship undermines the ideals of a liberal education and free society because
it does not prepare students to deal with diversity, it discourages discussion of other ideas and opinions, and restricts the right of Americans to
express themselves freely. As college students enter the real world, they will be presented with diversity on a daily basis, so it is important for
individuals to be comfortable with the idea. The life of a college student is a direct lead into life as an adult, meaning that if students are not
introduced to the ideas of diversity and various opinions, they will not be prepared for the future. It is difficult to find two people who have the
same ideas on every topic they are presented with; therefore, exposure to ideas of others in college will benefit students immensely. Not only will
they be more open to the ideas of others, but they will also gain insight into a wider range of opinions, possibly causing them to change their own. It
is important for individuals to look at situations from as many different viewpoints as possible in order to obtain all information and avoid biases.
Young adults are very impressionable, meaning that they tend to follow beliefs of the people they are close to, or opinions they are commonly
exposed to. If students are only exposed to common beliefs, they may never change their opinion to one that they potentially agree with more because it
is not discussed for fear of offending others. If the voices of students are muted, it would not be possible to learn from peers on campus and overall
better oneself. Many college students begin their independence as soon as they enter campus, generating their own opinions on matters with no
influence from their parents. Without free discussion on campus, students are limited and unable to express themselves. Many college campuses
demonstrate that students can express

Persuasive: Can It Really Be A Good Thing?
Victoria, Before we begin, I would like to tell you that I really enjoyed your post. I also feel that being persuasive is something that I am good at as
well. I personally think that it's pretty cool to be able to change the minds of others in the process. The question is can it always be a good thing or
can it really become a problem? I honestly think you're using your flair for a good reason. As you stated In your discussion you've used your ability
of persuasion to narrow a situation down with your family members. I've ran into many in counters with my family members as well; though I am
good at persuading others, I had a tough time with them. It made me realize, that i can't persuade everyone. I really believe you should take the approach

Writing A Persuasive Essay
It's a simple enough idea, write an essay about a topic for credit. I'll admit I've written good essays in the past, I just have one issue with this topic;
I am not a persuasive person. I don't have a passion to write about, or an idea in my head. Even if I was passionate about something, I doubt I have
the skill to convince you. My arguments would consist of why I like the topic (or hate it) with an extreme bias, and I doubt that you would be moved. I
couldn't convince you that the long hours of school take a toll on the students. Even if others agree with me, the way I word things, the lack of
passion and my lack of being able to be assertive is the reason why I can't write this essay. First things first, the way I word my thoughts. Regardless

You'll get this definition: "The writer takes a stand on an issue–either "for" or "against"–and builds the strongest possible argument to win over the
reader. In a persuasive essay, it's the writer's job to convince the reader to accept a particular point of view or take a specific action." Along with a
bunch of How Tos. I've have taken a stand that is very passive–aggressive, on why I can't write this essay. I know what you're thinking, this is
ridiculous. Just think of it like this, as you sit there reading me ramble on and give excuses. You're starting to listen. Yes, you have been in my spot
before, lack of passion words don't form right and you're just not clear enough. I see the irony here, this very essay, it contradicts itself. A persuasive
essay on why I can't write a persuasive essay. In the end it's genius, I'm not faking an opinion or sing someone's thoughts. You might have considered
this option before but it seemed too stupid. You looked up prompt after prompt. Nothing. When you finally settle you know it's not your best work and
the grade shows. Or you did it last minute, reworded someone else's essay. You've even considered turning in nothing, I mean what's the point

Persuasive Essay: Why A Good Grade Is Better?
I write to you in hopes that I can persuade you to raise my semester average by ten points. It's my belief that I could need it; it's better to be safe than
sorry, right? Good grades cause people to be happier, and if even a little bit of happiness can be found amidst the stress and anxiety of high school,
wouldn't you like to be a part of it?
People come and go, times change, but our current constant is that grades are the numbers that rule the rest of our lives. Get bad grades and you
likely won't get hired, but if you get good grades, you'll have a decent chance, regardless of what you actually know. That is why I mustn't pass this
opportunity up, because, while I believe I've a good grasp on the information, a higher grade cannot hurt in the long run....show more content...
Life can be chaotic and has distractions, and I don't mean internet–wise, though I won't deny that that plays a part, too. I could work harder, and
probably ought to, but as evidence has shown, that leads to overthinking and an inability to properly complete the assignment due to the fact that I
could always make it better. I don't want that, you don't want that, wouldn't this be easier for both of us?
I don't fully believe that I deserve this buffer, but if I can persuade you to change it, then I must be doing better than I thought. If I can persuade you,
then I have earned it. I don't believe that grades should be offered without work having been shown, so I do what I can without overcomplicating the
assignments.
It's my hope that you will consider this letter when you look over the grades and decide who does and doesn't deserve the buffer. As a young student
struggling to find his way through the chaos of high school, I hope these words hit their mark and that you will hear this plea. High school can be so
stressful that this would be very

Persuasive Essay On The Good Life
The Good Life "What is the good life?" my friend asked me in a feeble attempt to produce ideas for his Philosophy paper. Aside from the obvious
answer of using material items to generate happiness, the question drove me consider what made someone's life inherently "good." A few days
after our conversation, I read Open Door by Rebecca Solnit. This passage helped me to eventually answer his question. Throughout Open Door,
Solnit defines, exemplifies and reasons, and explores the ideas of losing one's self in order to achieve "the good life." Understanding what it means
to lose one's self is imperative in order to comprehend the rest of this passage. The idea of losing yourself is, "a voluptuous surrender, lost in your
arms, lost to the world, utterly immersed in what is present so that its surroundings fade away" (Solnit 16). Taking part in losing yourself will allow
you to find answers to what is unknown to you. The journey to the unknown and the unknown itself are transformative; however, many individuals do
not care for the unknown or are unaware of it. Those who do not care for the unknown typically fear for what it will bring. In today's society, adults
restrict their children to playing indoors rather than developing an adventurous and imaginative persona outside of the house, for they believe their
children will hurt themselves. Solnit expresses her concern for this generation by wondering "what will come of placing this generation under house
arrest" (Solnit 7). She

Persuasive Essay On Success
Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but
to do that, you must be successful in meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that highlights the
requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it
changes the world. No matter your race, religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for everyone, because
only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It" encourages itsaudience to think differently about wanting to be successful
and how to make it happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which include, persuasive, decorative,
and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun (Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise
repeatedly, I witnessed the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am also an athlete who is
expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and
are willing to work for it. Even the background music playing provoked an internal motivation to be proactive.

clearly. Through the use of primary and secondary sources consisting of examples, firsthand accounts, and statistics, my project maintained its status

Persuasive Speech : Effective Communication
In writing it's important to have an understanding of what you're trying to convey for your audience in addition to how you you will present your ideas.
Effective communication extends beyond having well organized writing expressed in complete and coherent sentences. The style, tone and clarity of
writing must also be considered, as they are constantly changing relative to the audience. Again, analyzing one's audience and purpose is essential to
successful writing. Appropriately, when choosing the most effective language, it is important to consider the document objective as well as the reader.
In essence, this idea of effective use of language has been the overarching theme of this online English course. Each writing assignment...show more

Thus, the style of language used within the text was often industry specific and possessed a more academic feeling. For example, in the text I often
used abbreviations and slang acceptable within the discourse such as, SCM Supply chain management, KPI Key performance indicator, and RDT
Resource dependence. The word choice in this assignment is indicative of that fact that language is chosen in a manner that is appropriate for both the
audience and the purpose of the writing.
Furthermore, perhaps the greatest contrast and the most evident of how language works differently in various types of writing is the discussion blog
post. The blog post allowed the class to engage in different types of formality of language. The formality of the language one uses should match
the formality of the situation and the relationship between the writer and reader. Therefore, as the public audience was a class of online students
taking a required writing course in the summer, the formality of my writing has often been very informal. For example, in my blog post addressing
my concern over the unworthy power of BeyoncГ© I wrote, "It was the year 2008 when the world was blessed with the images of BeyoncГ©
(unapologetically) dancing around in a leotard. Not only is BeyoncГ©'s single lady video one of her most notable hits it begins her what is now a
decade long relationship ending spree" (Marquis, 2016 ). The formality

better than what they can say , it reveals their character more. Everyone can say they can do something , but will they actually do it? Not many
people will fulfill what they say they are going to do. Saying a person will do something and actually doing it are two completely different things.
If you continually let people down , no one will trust you. However , if you tell someone you are going to do something and actually go through
with it , you will gain their trust and they will know you are loyal. Knowing someone is loyal to you and will not go against you is a great feeling, it

A Good Persuasive Speech

  • 1. A Good Persuasive Speech The Great Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another". I come before you today to recruit soldiers. Soldiers combating a variety of deadly diseases that must be destroyed. Over the past 25 years, I have cured thousands from Tuberculosis and AIDS, saving their lives. I am not sure how much longer I can possibly take catching two flights to and from Haiti some days. However, I would not have it any other way. I enjoy tending to those in need, and refuse to stop at anything to save lives. (Kidder, 24) I understand that this town is extremely lucky and full of success. From the lavish houses to the top–of–the–line cars motoring down Powder Point, Duxbury is a truly amazing place. I am not asking all of you to help me, but I am asking you to consider. Mission trips will broaden your perspectives, get you out of your comfort zone, and create lifelong relationships. Looking past the diseases and poverty lays a tropical island full of potential and beauty. However, this potential lies in the hands of those who are willing to help make change. (Kidder, 164) For many people, especially young adults, it is important to have a healthy perspective on the world around them. Students who reside in this lovely town are often associated with being in this "bubble" of lavishness and affluence. By coming on this trip alongside a few colleagues from PIH and I, you will have a fresh and renewed outlook on life. You'll soon Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On A Good Life People have different images of how a "good life" in our consumer–driven, constantly connected and the globalized world looks like due to the discordant definition of what a good life entails. Hence, there are "sensitizing" questions that we consider. First is whether people are the best judges of their own well–being. This involves subjective versus objective measures of well–being. Subjective perspective contains a self–reported judgment where individuals express feeling about themselves. Whereas objective measures of well–being are based on external criteria. For example, ways of living, fashion, choice of food and etc. The second question debates if a good life is a moment enjoyed or a life well–lived. A moment is understood as being present in the now and mindful of the surroundings. For instance, enjoying the nature and time with their families. Whereas a life well–lived is based on different people's perspective. For example, describing each day as their first day for the rest of their life. Lastly, is whether happiness is linked with virtue and can one be happy without being ethical. This argues if people have to be compassionate in order for them to be happy. The latter statement involves thinking of the study of principles that underlies human behavior. For example, realizing that Nike is using child labor, would you still be happy to purchase their products. It would be unethical to support child labor. However, some people believe that the pursuit of pleasure is Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay "Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics," announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. "Waffles are better than pancakes." I figured that a waffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. "Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!" I survived to live yet another day. As I walked to lunch, I went around and asked everyone the age old question: "Do you like Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 5. Persuasive Essay On The Art Of Art Art declares many things. It's a way for people to articulate their views, express their emotions, and communicate to the world in a way that gives them creative release. This ability to exhibit one's views in a imaginative and safe manner is exceptionally important to society's growth, and to border this freedom to articulate is detrimental. Art should not be hidden and concealed permanently from the public eye because some see it as vulgar due to the fact that many people have varying definitions as to what is crossing the line. Only certain, obvious things can be noted as truly indecent. Censorship is not an easy subject. As an artist, there is often a lot of tolerance for the obscene, from appreciation to detail on the human figure or the unique renditions of animalistic interaction. However, the majority of the public might find the same things that the artists see as a unique interpretation as vulgar. It is easy to see that such a standpoint must be taken into more consideration, as the point of indecency can differ greatly for a conservative Christian compared to a liberal atheist. The two images of what each group considers unseemly would most likely range in their obscenity, and so it would be difficult to put a line where one should be crossed. "If an image offends very many people, sooner or later someone will invoke the law, and along with it judges, legislators, policymakers, and the police," quotes Melinda Hinkson in Australia's Bill Henson scandal: notes on the new cultural attitude to images. Here we have a majority rule, where an image should only have action dealt upon it if enough people want change. This statue depicts a nude woman dancing, her body semi–geometric, and although you can not vividly see the all of the womans body parts, it is not difficult to know that she is supposed to be depicted as naked. A completely naked figure, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Title of Speech: Mental Health Speaker Role/ Audience: Advocate the importance of addressing mental health in schools. Thesis: Mental health is one of the largest problems students face on a daily basis, and in order to best help them, we need to implement serious and frequent discussions about mental health. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– INTRO: Attention Getting Device: Every year, about 42.5 million American adults (or 18.2 percent of the total adult population in the United States) suffers from some mental illness, enduring conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, statistics reveal. (newsweek.com) Purpose/Thesis: To persuade you all the importance of including mental health awareness in schools. Credibility: I have dealt with anxiety my entire life. Because I was not aware of what I had for so long and I did not have any help, I suffered and so did multiple aspects of my academic career. Justification: "The answer, based on the prevalence of mental illness globally, is stunning: 8 million people die each year due to mental illness. That is, 8 million deaths could be averted if people with mental illness were to die at the same rate as the general population." (NIMH) Preview of Main Points: Today I will show you the dangers of not explicitly discussing mental health in school, what students will gain from discussing mental health, and inform you what you can do to make this happen. Transition: First, let us discuss the danger of not including mental health in students' education. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– BODY: Need: According to nami.org, approximately 1 in 5 youth aged 13–18 (21.4%) experiences a severe mental disorder at some point during their life. For children aged 8–15, the estimate is 13%. Research has found that about 90% of individuals who die by suicide experience a mental illness. Social anxiety affects about 15 million individuals across America, most cases start around the age of 13. They often suffer anxiety, difficulty focusing and social challenges. Half of them drop out of high school, in part because many schools don't manage to meet their needs. • 8. Persuasive Essay On Coffee Coffee is one of the most popular beverages worldwide. Eighty–three percent of Americans drink coffee daily, and some more than one cup. Coffee is made by the grinding of roasted coffee seeds, also known as coffee beans, adding hot water allowing it to flow through the coffee grinds. Coffee was traditionally introduced as an energy booster to get people through the day. Today, coffee is also a social mechanism where people feel required to drink it every day. The aspect that makes coffee so addictive is the caffeine. Caffeine is not addictive the way meth or cocaine is but regular use of caffeine as a stimulate, can cause mild physical dependence. However, coffee is addicting it does allow many health benefits. Coffee can reduce the risk of type two diabetes and increase the possibility of preventing oral cancers. But like all good things, drinking coffee should not be abused, like coach Phil from Kicking & Screaming, who throughout the main part of the movie, chugged cups after cups of cappuccinos. Drinking a large amount of coffee does pose several cons. A con of coffee is an increase in anxiety, and have a negative effect on prescribed medicine. Although many only use coffees to boost energy early in the morning, this drink can be used to help with problems. Coffee can reduce the risk of type two diabetes, which is important when living in the world today. Type two diabetes is a very serious and complicated condition, coffee helps control one's blood and glucose Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Persuasive Speech On Social Media Essay Purpose: To persuade my audience to minimize their phone usage. Thesis: Stay in the present moment, don't let yourself believe you're going to forget a memory because you didn't document it through social media. Claim: Policy Organizational Pattern: Problem–Solution I. Introduction A. Attention Getter: Four Years of your life is wasted to what's sitting inside all of your pockets right now; your cellphone. The average person spends roughly 90 minutes a day playing on their phone, whether it's checking emails, Snapchatting or scrolling through your Twitter feed. According to The Dailymail.com we unlock our phones at least 110 times per day! We've become almost dependent on these devices over time, and it needs to stop. We rely on our phones everyday to wake us up for school and to know the time of day. B. Relevance: We live in a world of ever changing technology. Products are always getting upgraded every year and everyone wants the biggest and newest thing on the market. It's hard to not get caught up in all the buzz of things. We feel almost "naked" without our phones; our attachment to them is overwhelming. Without them we feel as though we're missing out on what's happening in the world. Our heads are always down; our thumbs are always swiping up and down on our newsfeed. We're living a life that is more involved in someone else's social media accounts than our own. C. Credibility: As a student at this university I've realized every person on the quad has their heads Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Speech On Freedom Of Speech Although it is a Constitutional right, freedom of speech has been a widely debated topic since its establishment in 1791. It seems that the idea of "freedom of speech" really stands for "saying what you want as long as it doesn't offend anyone". Free speech is an important foundation of our country, and should especially be welcomed in higher education. Censorship undermines the ideals of a liberal education and free society because it does not prepare students to deal with diversity, it discourages discussion of other ideas and opinions, and restricts the right of Americans to express themselves freely. As college students enter the real world, they will be presented with diversity on a daily basis, so it is important for individuals to be comfortable with the idea. The life of a college student is a direct lead into life as an adult, meaning that if students are not introduced to the ideas of diversity and various opinions, they will not be prepared for the future. It is difficult to find two people who have the same ideas on every topic they are presented with; therefore, exposure to ideas of others in college will benefit students immensely. Not only will they be more open to the ideas of others, but they will also gain insight into a wider range of opinions, possibly causing them to change their own. It is important for individuals to look at situations from as many different viewpoints as possible in order to obtain all information and avoid biases. Young adults are very impressionable, meaning that they tend to follow beliefs of the people they are close to, or opinions they are commonly exposed to. If students are only exposed to common beliefs, they may never change their opinion to one that they potentially agree with more because it is not discussed for fear of offending others. If the voices of students are muted, it would not be possible to learn from peers on campus and overall better oneself. Many college students begin their independence as soon as they enter campus, generating their own opinions on matters with no influence from their parents. Without free discussion on campus, students are limited and unable to express themselves. Many college campuses demonstrate that students can express Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive: Can It Really Be A Good Thing? Victoria, Before we begin, I would like to tell you that I really enjoyed your post. I also feel that being persuasive is something that I am good at as well. I personally think that it's pretty cool to be able to change the minds of others in the process. The question is can it always be a good thing or can it really become a problem? I honestly think you're using your flair for a good reason. As you stated In your discussion you've used your ability of persuasion to narrow a situation down with your family members. I've ran into many in counters with my family members as well; though I am good at persuading others, I had a tough time with them. It made me realize, that i can't persuade everyone. I really believe you should take the approach Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Writing A Persuasive Essay It's a simple enough idea, write an essay about a topic for credit. I'll admit I've written good essays in the past, I just have one issue with this topic; I am not a persuasive person. I don't have a passion to write about, or an idea in my head. Even if I was passionate about something, I doubt I have the skill to convince you. My arguments would consist of why I like the topic (or hate it) with an extreme bias, and I doubt that you would be moved. I couldn't convince you that the long hours of school take a toll on the students. Even if others agree with me, the way I word things, the lack of passion and my lack of being able to be assertive is the reason why I can't write this essay. First things first, the way I word my thoughts. Regardless ...show more content... You'll get this definition: "The writer takes a stand on an issue–either "for" or "against"–and builds the strongest possible argument to win over the reader. In a persuasive essay, it's the writer's job to convince the reader to accept a particular point of view or take a specific action." Along with a bunch of How Tos. I've have taken a stand that is very passive–aggressive, on why I can't write this essay. I know what you're thinking, this is ridiculous. Just think of it like this, as you sit there reading me ramble on and give excuses. You're starting to listen. Yes, you have been in my spot before, lack of passion words don't form right and you're just not clear enough. I see the irony here, this very essay, it contradicts itself. A persuasive essay on why I can't write a persuasive essay. In the end it's genius, I'm not faking an opinion or sing someone's thoughts. You might have considered this option before but it seemed too stupid. You looked up prompt after prompt. Nothing. When you finally settle you know it's not your best work and the grade shows. Or you did it last minute, reworded someone else's essay. You've even considered turning in nothing, I mean what's the point Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Persuasive Essay: Why A Good Grade Is Better? I write to you in hopes that I can persuade you to raise my semester average by ten points. It's my belief that I could need it; it's better to be safe than sorry, right? Good grades cause people to be happier, and if even a little bit of happiness can be found amidst the stress and anxiety of high school, wouldn't you like to be a part of it? People come and go, times change, but our current constant is that grades are the numbers that rule the rest of our lives. Get bad grades and you likely won't get hired, but if you get good grades, you'll have a decent chance, regardless of what you actually know. That is why I mustn't pass this opportunity up, because, while I believe I've a good grasp on the information, a higher grade cannot hurt in the long run....show more content... Life can be chaotic and has distractions, and I don't mean internet–wise, though I won't deny that that plays a part, too. I could work harder, and probably ought to, but as evidence has shown, that leads to overthinking and an inability to properly complete the assignment due to the fact that I could always make it better. I don't want that, you don't want that, wouldn't this be easier for both of us? I don't fully believe that I deserve this buffer, but if I can persuade you to change it, then I must be doing better than I thought. If I can persuade you, then I have earned it. I don't believe that grades should be offered without work having been shown, so I do what I can without overcomplicating the assignments. It's my hope that you will consider this letter when you look over the grades and decide who does and doesn't deserve the buffer. As a young student struggling to find his way through the chaos of high school, I hope these words hit their mark and that you will hear this plea. High school can be so stressful that this would be very Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Persuasive Essay On The Good Life The Good Life "What is the good life?" my friend asked me in a feeble attempt to produce ideas for his Philosophy paper. Aside from the obvious answer of using material items to generate happiness, the question drove me consider what made someone's life inherently "good." A few days after our conversation, I read Open Door by Rebecca Solnit. This passage helped me to eventually answer his question. Throughout Open Door, Solnit defines, exemplifies and reasons, and explores the ideas of losing one's self in order to achieve "the good life." Understanding what it means to lose one's self is imperative in order to comprehend the rest of this passage. The idea of losing yourself is, "a voluptuous surrender, lost in your arms, lost to the world, utterly immersed in what is present so that its surroundings fade away" (Solnit 16). Taking part in losing yourself will allow you to find answers to what is unknown to you. The journey to the unknown and the unknown itself are transformative; however, many individuals do not care for the unknown or are unaware of it. Those who do not care for the unknown typically fear for what it will bring. In today's society, adults restrict their children to playing indoors rather than developing an adventurous and imaginative persona outside of the house, for they believe their children will hurt themselves. Solnit expresses her concern for this generation by wondering "what will come of placing this generation under house arrest" (Solnit 7). She Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Persuasive Essay On Success Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but to do that, you must be successful in meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that highlights the requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it changes the world. No matter your race, religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for everyone, because only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It" encourages itsaudience to think differently about wanting to be successful and how to make it happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which include, persuasive, decorative, and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun (Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise repeatedly, I witnessed the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am also an athlete who is expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and are willing to work for it. • 18. Having concluded the project, I have learned the difference between an argumentative paper and a persuasive one, as well as how to state my point clearly. Through the use of primary and secondary sources consisting of examples, firsthand accounts, and statistics, my project maintained its status of an argumentative paper instead of a persuasive one. Since I used different types of credible sources, my argument was valid because I referenced the sources. My style and message was of my own, but referencing the sources helped support my essay to ensure the paper's trustworthiness and accuracy. My analytical skills also developed throughout the course of the research paper project. I was able to reap only the information that pertained to the argument I was making and avoided information from sources that were not reliable and pertinent. Thus, the style of language used within the text was often industry specific and possessed a more academic feeling. For example, in the text I often used abbreviations and slang acceptable within the discourse such as, SCM Supply chain management, KPI Key performance indicator, and RDT Resource dependence. The word choice in this assignment is indicative of that fact that language is chosen in a manner that is appropriate for both the audience and the purpose of the writing. Furthermore, perhaps the greatest contrast and the most evident of how language works differently in various types of writing is the discussion blog post. The blog post allowed the class to engage in different types of formality of language. The formality of the language one uses should match the formality of the situation and the relationship between the writer and reader. Therefore, as the public audience was a class of online students taking a required writing course in the summer, the formality of my writing has often been very informal. For example, in my blog post addressing my concern over the unworthy power of BeyoncГ© I wrote, "It was the year 2008 when the world was blessed with the images of BeyoncГ© (unapologetically) dancing around in a leotard.
