Hamlet Film Analysis Essay
The play Hamlet has been converted into many films, as the play acts like a script and stage directions help directors accurately portray the text.
While the play provides indications of how the play will generally looks like, it is with different views from directors that allow Hamlet to be
interpreted in many different ways. In Act Three Scene Two, we see evidence of how a director's interpretation of the text can enhance mood of the
scene and the intensity of the situation. As Hamlet begins to expose his uncle as the murderer of King Hamlet, it is with the director's choice that shows

As Hamlet is on the stage, he further interrupts the play by taking the bottle of poison held by Lucianus, and narrating the death of King Hamlet. In the
written version of the play, there is indication that a bottle of poison is present in the scene, but the film takes the symbolism of bottle and has Hamlet
hold and point the bottle towards Claudius in the stands. This symbolism of the bottle of poison is enhanced as Hamlet holds eye contact with
Claudius, as it is evident to Claudius and the guests attending the play that Hamlet is accusing Claudius of killing King Hamlet, and his death was not
the accident it was made out to be. These accusations, along with the anger in Hamlet's voice and the presentation of the bottle, causes Claudius to
become aware of Hamlet's knowledge of the death of his father, causing Claudius to rise out fear of what may occur if the kingdom finds out about
this tragedy. The decision of the direction to place Hamlet on the stage and have him hold the bottle of poison in the film provided the scene with more
intensity as viewers were able to understand the uncomfortableness of the attendants and the fear from Claudius. Along with Hamlet's position on stage,
it was with the excellent use of film techniques that were able to capture the true feelings of Claudius and the attendants. As Hamlet begins to speak

Hamlet is the main character and protagonist in the play "Hamlet" by William Shakespeare. Hamlet is the Prince of Denmark. He is the son of Queen
Gertrude and King Hamlet, who was murdered by his uncle Claudius. Hamlet is a very unique individual and handles many situations in unusual ways.
Hamlet is an extremely intriguing and complex character that appears to change with every different perspective. Shakespeare has done an absolutely
fantastic job with capturing true human characteristics with Hamlet. Hamlet bounces back and forth with his emotions so inconsistently that one never

The ghost made the whole situation for Hamlet seem even that much more unreal. He already wished that all of the recent events he had to deal with
were not real. He then has to deal with the reality of this ghost. It seems to influence him terribly and takes a negative toll on his emotions. This
occurrence continues to further diversify Hamlet's feelings and emotions (Snider, 67). The last major external influence is the company of others
(Snider, 71). How hamlet responded had a lot to do with the actions done by others and himself. A person's environment greatly affects how they handle
oneself and situations around them. Due to Hamlet's extremely ludicrous environment and unusual circumstances, he is just that much more of a
complicated and elaborate character (Bristol). Another major thing that contributed to Hamlet's complexity was his utter hatred towards Claudius.
From the get go Hamlet never liked him. He felt Claudius was immoral and almost worthless. After the ghost of his father told Hamlet that Claudius
was responsible for his death, he hated his uncle just that much more. That hatred soon turned into something much more though. It transformed into a
desire for revenge. Before he did anything though, he had to be positive that Claudius was the one responsible, so Hamlet tested his innocence.
Claudius failed the test and Hamlet was then positive that he was responsible for the murder of his father (Mitchell, 34–37). Hamlet

In Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, the author demonstrates a lot of corruption and rottenness in Denmark. He does this a few different ways; one way
is by showing the corruption of the parents in the play and showing the effect they have on their children and the society that surrounds them. There are
a few main adult characters in the play, each one with their own secrets and their own character defects that affect almost everyone around them. One

Her reason is a better one though; because she wants to see what is happening with her "too much changed" son (II.ii.36). In act I.ii, as Hamlet
grieves his father's death, Claudius disrespects him; essentially he tells Hamlet to get over it and that all fathers die some time. The author shows here
how the parent's actions can have a negative effect on their children. If Hamlet is to take how Claudius acts as normal, then he could act the same way
towards his children; showing almost no compassion and only wanting what is best for himself. None of the characteristics are something that a good
father should portray. Claudius describes Hamlet's grief as; "Tis unmanly grief" referring to the fact that Hamlet has been grieving too long (I.ii.94).
Hamlet needs time to mourn and Claudius feels that he can dictate how long Hamlet can mourn for.
Polonius is also very disrespectful of his children. He is always telling Ophelia, his daughter, how to act and that she cannot talk to Hamlet or see him.
Polonius tells Ophelia "I would not...As to give words or talk with Lord Hamlet"(I.iii.133–135). Polonius also says that, "Tis to much proved–that with
devotions visage/ And pious action we do sugar o'er/The devil himself" (III.i.44–49). Polonius talks about how people can sometimes cover up the

The play Hamlet is one of William Shakespeare's most well–known plays of all time. Written in the early 1600s, Hamlet includes a series of the
protagonist character's soliloquies that to this day have been referenced in many other works. In this play the protagonist, Hamlet goes through a major
change from the beginning of the play to the end. Hamlet's transformation from a helpless man in despair into a determined, confident man is revealed
in the soliloquies which are reflections of his experiences of self–realization. There is a drastic change from the first soliloquy to the sixth soliloquy by
Hamlet's character. His growth is seen best through the soliloquies being that is the only time that Hamlet is able to truly open up and let out his inner

before collaborating within the Shakespeare competition of the STEM academy in Kaimuki high faculty, we, as a class, needed to provide you with

The intense human relationships of Hamlet have been viewed through numerous perspectives yet all have reached the same conclusions. With the
exception of just one, the friendship of Hamlet and Horatio, all the relationships are dishonourable, dysfunctional and destined to fail. Being a revenge

The scene ends with Hamlet possessively demanding her "but go not to my uncle's bed" and uses multiple sexual references when he tells her to not
let Claudius "Pinch wanton on your cheek, call you his mouse". Relating this to the Oedipus complex, Hamlet appears to be more like a jealous lover
than a concerned son. Examining act 3 scene 4 from different perspectives gives varied insights into Gertrude and Hamlet's relationship, yet each
perspective deduces that it is a dishonourable relationship with no mutual trust or respect.
Another dishonourable family relationship in Hamlet is that between Ophelia and her father Polonius. Polonius manipulates Ophelia for his own
benefit, treating her like a tool rather than a person. Their relationships becomes pitiful when she receives orders from her father and responds with "I
shall obey, my lord", implying that she is at the service of her father. Through the analysis of act 4 scene 5 a deeper understanding can be reached about
Ophelia's relationship with her late father. Following the death of Polonius, Ophelia's mind becomes unhinged as she drifts into insanity, speaking in
songs and rhymes. Considering this scene from a feminists perspective it can be thought that Ophelia went mad with guilt having her desire for Hamlet
to kill her father so that they can be together fulfilled. This theory strongly supports the idea that the relationship between Ophelia and Polonius

conflict and war between us all whether it was because of resources, money, and or power someone has killed someone to get what they wanted even
if they had to kill their only brother to get it.This is what happened in the story of Hamlet, Hamlet's father was killed by his uncle; Claudius
presumably because he wanted to be king himself and to marry his brother's wife. This made Hamlet depressed and miserable because his father died
and his mother married his uncle straight away. Then later on in the story theghost of hamlets father shows up and tells him that his uncle Claudius
killed him. At first Hamlet was very calm and rational about the whole ordeal, he even made a plan to try and see if the ghost was telling the truth.
However once he found out that the ghost was indeed telling the truth hamlet started to obsess more and more over killing Claudius that he didn't care

Prince Hamlet is a man who enjoys contemplating difficult philosophical questions. When his father the king of Denmark, was killed by his uncle.
when Hamlet returns he sees his ghost after he returns home to find evidence of his father's death. The Ghost of Hamlet tells Prince Hamlet that his
uncle Claudius his uncle was the one who killed his father with poison of the ear. Throughout the rest of the story with him, Hamlet seeks to prove his
uncle Claudius and guilt him into telling before he takes action against him. But, Hamlet is pensive ad extremum, at times even brooding; he
constantly overuses his intellect while ignoring his emotions and ignoring what he thinks "feels right." His sense of logic causes him to delay his
revenge against Claudius until the end of hamlet story where he kills Claudius and proves that he has progressed into a truly mad character.
At the beginning of the story, Hamlet acts out of pure intellect and processed logic. He suppresses his emotions and trusts only in the power of his mind.
When Hamlet encounters his father 's ghost, he does not believe it is his father, but then his emotions reaction upon seeing his father and then Hamlet
says "Let me not burst in ignorance; but tell / Why thy canoniz 'd bones, hearsed in death, / Have burst their cerements . . Say, why is this? wherefore?

While the play provides indications of how the play will generally looks like, it is with different views from directors that allow Hamlet to be interpreted in many different ways. In Act Three Scene Two, we see evidence of how a director's interpretation of the text can enhance mood of the scene and the intensity of the situation. In the written version of the play, there is indication that a bottle of poison is present in the scene, but the film takes the symbolism of bottle and has Hamlet hold and point the bottle towards Claudius in the stands. This symbolism of the bottle of poison is enhanced as Hamlet holds eye contact with Claudius, as it is evident to Claudius and the guests attending the play that Hamlet is accusing Claudius of killing King Hamlet, and his death was not the accident it was made out to be. These accusations, along with the anger in Hamlet's voice and the presentation of the bottle, causes Claudius to become aware of Hamlet's knowledge of the death of his father, causing Claudius to rise out fear of what may occur if the kingdom finds out about this tragedy. The decision of the direction to place Hamlet on the stage and have him hold the bottle of poison in the film provided the scene with more intensity as viewers were able to understand the uncomfortableness of the attendants and the fear from Claudius.
