Point of view is something that many people argue as relativistic and subjective. To explain; it is the external circumstances and events that give
reality shape or form which is dependent upon a single person. How does this relate to seeing? As I have mentioned before in a earlier paper we are
all victims of our own biases and filters created through our outside means. As it becomes internalized and reflected back out towards the world which
creates the binocular view as we have discussed in class lectures. The real question at this point becomes how these extensions of reality become a
collective view–point? As an example at what point do we decide what blue is, what it is associations? I could be very off but, there always seems to be

Through this means it's not reality that is relative for the person but, more so for the collective group...and anyone who deviates from that is
considered an outsider...or do they have a less abstracted view of reality because, they can see the greater picture of reality? This also does not
answer the question of individualism or identity...where and how then do those come into play?Okay let's say the individual is a curial part of a
collective. As there are common goals of the group no two people may approach it exactly the same way. So when reality for the collective is
defined it can branch out in several directions. I had mentioned blue earlier as an example because of its many implications. Blue can mean; sad, cold,
water, calm, etc. But all the descriptors can find a way back to the indispensable form. Thus, this can suggest that all things are inter–related to one
necessary core. It's similar to the aspect of language especially if you look at nouns we have to further define them with actions, appearance, the what,
the how, and the why. This is also how paintings are defined with this specific word sets and combinations. Paintings are a creation of reality no a

Point of view is very crucial to stories, it tells us the story and the way it gets told. There are four point of views which are the following: omniscient,
third–person limited, first person, and objective. "Eveline" by James Joyce is told in third–limited person point of view which only focuses on the
thoughts and feelings of Eveline. The narrator demonstrates the knowledge of one character but lacks knowledge in other characters. In Eveline, we
only see the situation and setting through her eyes. "The Lottery" is told in the objective point of view which doesn't show any knowledge of one

Each individual short story has its' own point of view and voice. Within short stories there are different types of narrative and also different types
of irony being used. Each individual author has their own way of telling a story; also they have a certain way to portray their story to an audience.
For two specific short stories Everything That Rises Must Converge and Mrs. Dutta Writes a Letter we can analyze to see what point of view and

In this story the family does not know that Mrs. Dutta is rather unhappy living with her son in America. Mrs. Dutta always tries to hide her true
feelings from her family, and is reluctant to tell the truth to her best friend in India, but the reader knows Mrs. Dutta's true feelings. Also we can
see how the voice affects the plot of each story. Since both Everything That Rises Must Converge and Mrs. Dutta Writes a Letter have a similar
voice, the plots in both stories are affected almost the same way. With the voice being from a third person point of view the reader is able to know
the qualities of each character. In Everything That Rises Must Converge knowing both emotions for Julian and his mother, we are able to see both
sides of what they are thinking. This helps with knowing the actions that might take place next and also to know why the character responded in
such a way. Julian's mother is very prejudice, and since the reader is able to know her feeling we can see why Julian acted the way he did when he
saw an African American man get on the bus. In Mrs. Dutta Writes a Letter knowing Mrs. Dutta's feeling about living with her son we can see why she
is reluctant to share that information with her best friend as she thinks it would be un–honorable. We can also see that the feeling is mutual with her

Point of view is a very important element of literature. In the book Literature Reading, Reacting, Writing point of view is described as, "the vantage
point from which events are presented" (Kirszner and Mandell 300). The point of view of a story is simply the view of whoever's telling it. Kirszner
and Mandell inform readers that if the narrator can enter all the characters' minds and always knows what is going on, then he is omniscient (303).
Kirszner and Mandell also tell readers that if a narrator can only enter one character's mind, then he is a limited omniscient narrator (304). Point of

Yes, the protagonist in the story is narrating, but those thoughts are presented to the readers in the form of a journal. As the days go by that the wife
is held in the room, she is documenting all her feelings and experiences, instead of simply thinking it in her head. This introduces the first idea about
women and mental illness presented in "The Yellow Wallpaper." At the beginning of the story, the wife wrote, "I would not say this to a living soul,

Third Person Limited– Bradbury uses third person limited to narrator the story. In this point of view, the narrator knows all of the inner thoughts,

451 takes place in. This type of narrative uses the words he, she, and they. For example, after Clarisse disappears, Montag's feelings were described in

Point of view is typically the first person or third person for the entire novel, unlike Ungifted by, Gordon Korman, where the first person changes

We only got one person point of view. It would have been nice if we got everyone's point of view. The better view of events can even change the

Point of View Essay
Each individual short story has its' own point of view and voice. Within short stories there are different types of narrative and also different types
of irony being used. Each individual author has their own way of telling a story; also they have a certain way to portray their story to an audience.
For two specific short stories Everything That Rises Must Converge and Mrs. Dutta Writes a Letter we can analyze to see what point of view and
voice is being used. Everything That Rises Must Converge is a story that takes place in the 1960's. A recent college graduate, Julian who escorts his
mother to her weekly weight–loss class at the YMCA. His mother attends these classes to reduce her high blood pressure. He escorts her there every

It is not evident who is actually telling the story and its' events. The story is not told in past tense which would imply that Julian was the one in fact
telling the story. For Mrs. Dutta Writes a Letter this is also told form a third person point of view. We can see that the story is not being told by any of
the characters, and it shows the emotions and actions of everyone in the story. The narrative persona for this story is more close to Mrs. Dutta then
other characters as the story mainly revolves around how Mrs. Dutta is feeling and her actions. The narrative persona shows a glimpse of the other
characters emotions while focusing on Mrs. Dutta. "Mrs. Dutta, who had never, through forty–two years of marriage, addressed Sagar's father by name
tried not to wince." (Borroway)Both stories are similar by the fact that they have the same type of narrative persona. In other stories such as What You
Pawn I Will Redeem this is coming from a first person narrative. The story is being told by the main character and he knows little about the other
emotions felt by other characters. For Everything That Rises Must Converge and Mrs. Dutta Writes a Letter the distance would seem to be closer as
the reader knows each of the characters' feelings and their emotions. Secondly, we can review of the types of irony that is being used for each story.
