Analysis Of Around The World In 80 Days
Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days has proven to be a literature classic over the years. This adventure novel tells the story of a man who, on
a bet, decides to travel around the world in under 80 days. Unbeknownst to him, he is suspected to be the perpetrator of a robbery at a local bank
and is closely followed by a detective. Although initially skeptically of its content as it is a relatively old book, I, as a reader, found myself quite
enjoying the book as it continues to hold a similar suspense and interest as many modern novels. When questioning people about whether or not they
have read this story, I am often told that they do not find the language and vocabulary of the past enjoyable to read. But while reading this novel, the
vocabulary did not appear exceedingly difficult. However, it may be beneficial to have a dictionary nearby if necessary as it should not take away
from this genuinely engaging novel. Around the World in 80 Days follows the story ofPhileas Fogg, a somewhat peculiar, yet intelligent, man. The
wealthy eccentric shows extreme stubbornness, motivation, and determination to prove his resolve which results in a fully eventful novel. He is
joined by Jean Passepartout, his newly hired, yet loyal, French servant who quickly joins him on his adventure. They are closely pursued by Inspector
Fix, the Scotland Yard detective leading the hunt for the criminal involved in a recent bank robbery. Set in 1872, Phileas Fogg's escapade begins in

My Life Is A Beautiful Day
Today is a beautiful day. The sun is shining brightly, the grass is greener than ever, and the skies are pure blue. All around me is an exciting, party
atmosphere, but the atmosphere is also bittersweet. Why would such lovely days like this be bittersweet? Because I'm going away to university in
less than 2 days, and today is my going away house party. Everyone in my family is here, and so are my friends, and some neighbors. So far, I've
gotten plenty of amazing gifts– whether it be some cash, a decoration for my dorm, or some other swell item. Absolutely everything is perfect, and
everyone I have ever loved is at this party, everyone except Richard. 2 years ago, I blew up on him in a fit of fury fueled by heartbreak. I said things to

After that, I slowly opened the gift box, and what was in there shocked me. In the box there's a navy blue book with the title "Memory Book" in
gold lettering. I felt a rather sentimental smile come across my face as I faced Jordan. "You made this for me?" I questioned. "I did.... I really hope
you like it, it was pretty tough to get all of the pictures together." Jordan admitted, then shrugged. Without another word I started to gently flip through
the book, scanning the images in my head. I came across a picture of me, Jordan, and my other friend, Ashley, at our 11th grade year–end field trip. It's
pretty neat that he had so many pictures of me, him, and some other people. It honestly made me really sentimental, and it became nearly
bittersweet, because then, I see a picture of Maybelle, Richard, and I. A movie theater was in the background, so I guess this is when we went on
an outing to the theaters where I brought Jordan along. From then on, everything fades back to me. I truly do miss both of them dearly, especially
my own blood, Richard. Maybelle was another story, that isn't as important as Richard. Sure, I do long for her sometimes, but my cousin, who I've
lived with my entire life, is, and should've been my priority back then. Suddenly, Jordan started rambling on about Maybelle and how she has changed.
I guess he took notice of me studying the picture so much and he probably read

Essay On 80's Culture
Culture of the 80s
The 1980s represented a change known as the glory days, something no one has seen since the 1920s. The exciting fast paced lifestyle is what captured
most americans hearts. Life in general brought something new to society between new consumer goods and expanding cultures. In the end the 80s
brought music, dance, television, movies, famous figures, and literature that would forever shape America.
Changes in music were inspired by social and political issues at the time. It was most definitely a politically charged decade:cold war, unemployment,
poverty in homes. Many artists used music as a form of escapism and or to get a point across. In 1981 MTV launched its first music video, 'Video Killed

Famous movies for kids were GI JOE, Smurfs, and Alvin and the Chipmunks. These films brought in a large amount of revenue that companies
decided to make action figures of their characters. Many family sitcoms were made especially for the families such as, Growing Pains, Alf, The
Cosby Show and many more. Hollywood had plenty of money from 1980s movies, but they wanted to convert americans money into cold, hard cash.
The most famous 80s classic movies were "The Little Mermaid" and "The Color Purple." Writers and producers new just how to make something from
scratch and turn it into a masterpiece for everyone to enjoy and love.
Famous political and social figures were very important in their 80s because they sculpted the culture in today's era. "Sticking through scandal and
triumph, tragedy and joy, we're left with a decade full of memorable figures, some of which have broken through the millennium barrier and are still
with us today."(Pia Sooney) Movie star icon, Tom Cruise won many awards, starred in many movies and influenced society with his hollywood face.
The political figures were Jimmy Carter, George Bush, and Ronald Reagan. Each of these presidents helped the crisis that america had been in from the

Cause And Effect Essay On Extreme Weather Events
Extreme weather events seem to be more common due to recent global climate changes. Changes in climate events, such as floods, droughts, and
hurricanes are the primary way that most people realize climate change has consequences. Human activities have caused majority of the observable
effects on the environment. According to the IPCC, regions experience the effects of climate change at different times, which alters some regions'
ability to acclimate or modify (Global Climate Change 1). Over the last five decades, many regions of the United States have experienced extended
periods of excessively high temperatures, sea–level rises, decline in snowpack and in some regions, floods and droughts (Global Climate Change 1).
Washington, a state in the northwestern region, is a prime example of a destination that has experienced all of the previously stated outcomes.
Washington has two distinct climate zones. West of the Cascades have mild, humid, summer days that rarely past 79 degrees Fahrenheit, and winter
days that range between 27 to 64 degrees Fahrenheit. Western Washington also experiences frequent cloud cover, fog, and annual snowfall of 26
inches. In opposition, east of the state experiences warm summers and cold winters, as well as annual precipitation of only six inches (Washington State
1). In terms of liquid precipitation, there are an average of 150.0 days of rain, with the most rain occurring in January with 18.0 days of rain, and the
least rain occurring in July with

A Beautiful Day Essay
'Another beautiful day' Amy thought as she woke up and walked to the window. However, most people think of a beautiful day as sunny and warm.
Amy on the other hand, lives in space, and a beautiful day means the stars are shining bright. Amy has been living in space for the past 10 years only
with her mom and dad.
Amy walks out to the kitchen and is greeted by her parents. "Good morning Amy!" her mom and dad said in unison. "Good morning" Amy replied
in an tired tone. Amy slowly walked to the counter and sat down. Her mom placed a plate of pancakes in front of her. he instantly started to eat them.
When Amy ate, she looked out at the stars admiring how beautiful they were. You can be in space for ten years and never get sick of them. After she
ate, she walked over to the living room to watch TV.
"No way Amy! You haveschool to do!" Amy's mom yelled. Even though they lived in space, Amy still had to get an education. Amy was
homeschooled. She frowned and walked to her room to get her school stuff, knowing that she had to do it. School was easy for Amy, she was very
intelligent. Nevertheless, Amy was not good at one subject, English. When Amy wrote stories she didn't know what to write about. Her mom and dad
had been her only friends and she had only seen Earth on TV. Amy never saw the ocean, mountains, or land. All she had ever known were stars.
After two hours of schoolwork, Amy went to the kitchen to get lunch and take a break. No one was in the

Describe An Intercultural Experience
In no more than 250 words, describe an intercultural experience (international or within the U.S.) and include what you learned from this experience.
Truthfully, while I've interacted with many different people from many different cultures I haven't yet had the opportunity to dive deep enough to truly
call them experiences. Though I've had small exchanges of culture with others, such as making authentic dumplings in cooking club and meeting
people from all over the world at Michigan, I'm excited by the possibility of going to a new country and completely immersing myself in their way of
life.
Besides the small instances of cultural exchange at Michigan, the largest intercultural experience I've had is the time I went to my friend Niharika's
traditional Indian graduation party. While we've been friends since middle school, our lives often seemed very similar to each other. It wasn't until I
attended her graduation party that I understood how much our difference of cultures impacted parts of our...show more content...
While researching study abroad opportunities, I noticed that there are many crossovers between the process for studying abroad and the engineering
design process, all of which will be extremely important throughout my career. For example, the application process for studying abroad is very
similar to an engineering project proposal, in that they both explain why this project (studying abroad) should be undertaken and how I am the best
person for the job. In addition to this I will have to create a budget for myself, and procure funding for my trip, much as engineers must do for their
projects. Lastly, and most crucial to an engineer's job, is being able to work in groups with people from different backgrounds in high stress
environments. When studying abroad, I will have to work with people with completely different life experiences than

missing piece of the railroad by foot, a great delay to Phileas Fogg. Fogg showed no emotion at this, and instead, searched about and purchased an

through the jungles and on an elephant, the party encounters a fanatical bunch of native Indians carrying an abducted princess, so the Parsee guide

Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Desert
After working in the field on a scorching summer day I was as thirsty and hot as a lizard in the Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world,
without water for nine years and nine months and nine days and being beaten down by scaring heat from the merciless sun. The idea of water
seemed foreign to me because there were none around then. Suddenly, I saw a shiny, metallic water fountain and my body urged me in the direction
of the water fountain. When I took a drink of water, my parched mouth felt relieved, as if I took a dive in a crystal clear pool on a hot summer day.
The cold and refreshing water soared from the water fountain into my mouth and moisturized my rough, dry tongue. As the cold liquid sloshes down
my throat, I let a small smile as the icy water alleviated my dehydrated body. However, my body is not only longing for water, but also as well as for
sustenance. My stomach growl in defiance as it was deprived of proper nutritional substance for the next six grueling hours until dinner, which seemed
to be in the distant future.
When dinner time arrived, I was ravenous. I was so famished to point that I could down a full course meal in the time frame of five minutes or even
less. When my mom, my lord, and savior, raining down a plate of juicy steak sided with mashed potato and a bowl of salad upon the table, my primal
instinct urged me to force down the food like a caveman back in the stone age, disregarding any sort of table manner that existed, yet, with a

The View From 80 Cowley Summary
Malcolm Cowley, upon achieving eight decades of life, decided to write an essay, "The View from 80," in order to educate people. People who
think they know a lot about being geriatric but have not actually experienced what it is like to be a senior citizen. Anyone can make observations or
make educated guesses about what being old should mean, but Cowley objects that his view is more legitimate and the rest of the age groups should
adjust their attitudes based on his assertions. Cowley does all of this in a light hearted and entertaining way. Using a casual structure, humorous
anecdotes, stimulating imagery and witty language, Cowley shows that, even though the rest of the generations think that the aging should gradually
fade away from society, relax after a long life and wait for fate to take its course, elderly people should not subscribe to this lifestyle. Rather, his aging
compatriots should carpe diem and...show more content...
80, according to Cowley, is not the age to fade into the monotony of a nursing home and stop contributing to life. Humans should aspire to be more
like Yeats, who, in his last week of life composed some of his best poetry. We should strive to be like Giovanni Papini, who continued to write
books even after he could no longer see the words on paper, after he could no longer hold a pen for himself. There are ways around the physical
obstacles that those of advanced age commonly face. With all the free time afforded to old people after retirement, they should not simply spend their
days watching day time game shows and eating pudding. Cowley's "comrades in age" should avoid the typical vices, such as avarice, untidiness, and
vanity. They should instead dedicate their time to creating and contributing and doing as much as they can in the time that they have. Why give up,
suggests Cowley, when you can get up out of the LazyBoy recliner and enjoy the long life you were

Around the World in Eighty Days. This novel follows the journey of the eccentric Englishman Phileas Fogg as he races around the world on a bet.
Accompanied by his faithful servant, Passepartout, and a scheming detective, Fix, he encounters many challenges he must overcome in order to return

the growing movements of nationalism and imperialism. Phileas Fogg's journey is made possible by the growing industrialization of the time. One

They could increase speed when needed and overcome many obstacles. This was demonstrated when one of the trains Phileas Fogg was traveling
on approached a rundown bridge it needed to cross. "They perceived that the whole train, rushing on at the rate of a hundred miles an hour, hardly
bore upon the rails at all" (125). This shows that trains were capable of reaching extreme speeds in order to arrive at a destination faster, or to clear
obstacles. Overall, because trains had become more industrialized, they were able to connect more cities together to make travelling faster and more
efficient. Another example of industrialization that appears in the novel is the use of boats. The "Mongolia" is one of the main boats that the party
travels by. It is supposed to be one of the fastest steamers in the world, at the time, and indeed proves to be by completing its journey two days ahead
of schedule (31). This is one example of the improvements made to boats because of industrialization. They are now able to hold more people and
travel faster and for lengthier distances. Another example of this is the "Rangoon," a "screw steamer, built of iron, weighing about seventeen hundred
and seventy tons, and with engines of four hundred horse–power" (62). This shows how advanced the manufacturing of these vessels was. In fact,
many times throughout the novel, when Phileas Fogg misses some form of

saying "No" and more often than not half my food is devoured by these hungry beasts.
Once break is finished I work until the real lunch time and then I hang around the common room or go to the library and do

An Average Year Of 365 Days Essay
In an average year of 365 days, there are only 262,800 minutes. In a lifespan of 80 years, there is just over 21 million minutes. That doesn 't seem
like a lot, does it? One minute can fly by so fast that we barely even knew it was there. In fact, 262,800 minutes can fly by so fast that we barely
remember our year or get anything accomplished. If you would rather make the most of your time, then you need to become more mindful of how you
spend your time. Following are some ways to do that.
Focus Less On Time And More Of How You Spend It
Watching the clock is not the same as watching the sun set. Yet, we have clocks, watches, and phones that help us keep track of every moment in our
life. We have become obsessed with time, in a way, and that obsession is causing us to be more mindful of time than of what we are actually doing
with it.
But, it is still important to get things done in a certain time period. So, we must be mindful of the time to some degree. The best way to stay mindful
of time, but really stay mindful of what you are doing in the moment, is to use timers or alarms. Setting a timer helps you to stop looking at the clock
and start paying attention to what is going on around you. You can become lost in what you are doing– spending time with family, doing daily tasks
for success, cleaning the house, or whatever else, and instead of waiting for the time you have to switch gears and obsessing about it, you can be
reminded of it with a simple alarm.

Why Is The First Earth Day Successful
2020 marks for the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day; the focus will be to end plastic pollution (Earth Day). The first Earth Day was held on
April 22, 1970, it was celebrated all throughout the United States. Currently, it's a global event that people from all over the world celebrate. Before
the movement started in the 1970's, a great oil spill happened in Santa Barbara, California 1969. Thus, the oil spill encouraged Senator Gaylord Nelson
to have a day, to specifically focus on helping the environment and teach the public about natural disasters (History of earth day). As a result a year later,
millions of people went to the streets protesting for the negative impacts of more than a hundred years of industrial development on the environment.
The natural environment has been on a road of destruction ever since the industrial revolution. In addition, humans are overwhelmed with gaining
wealth that they have ignored the natural environmental needs for hundreds of years. It can be said that this movement has been a great success in
protecting the environment with all the participation of the civilians. There are three main reasons why Earth Day is successful: The first, is the strong
focus of the movement, which promotes public awareness of pollution problems, the second, is all the positive influence the main media has have for
the movement, and lastly, is the overall knowledge that people receive after participating in an Earth Day activity.
First, Gaylord Nelson

Analysis Of Around The World In 80 Days

  • 1. Analysis Of Around The World In 80 Days Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days has proven to be a literature classic over the years. This adventure novel tells the story of a man who, on a bet, decides to travel around the world in under 80 days. Unbeknownst to him, he is suspected to be the perpetrator of a robbery at a local bank and is closely followed by a detective. Although initially skeptically of its content as it is a relatively old book, I, as a reader, found myself quite enjoying the book as it continues to hold a similar suspense and interest as many modern novels. When questioning people about whether or not they have read this story, I am often told that they do not find the language and vocabulary of the past enjoyable to read. But while reading this novel, the vocabulary did not appear exceedingly difficult. However, it may be beneficial to have a dictionary nearby if necessary as it should not take away from this genuinely engaging novel. Around the World in 80 Days follows the story ofPhileas Fogg, a somewhat peculiar, yet intelligent, man. The wealthy eccentric shows extreme stubbornness, motivation, and determination to prove his resolve which results in a fully eventful novel. He is joined by Jean Passepartout, his newly hired, yet loyal, French servant who quickly joins him on his adventure. They are closely pursued by Inspector Fix, the Scotland Yard detective leading the hunt for the criminal involved in a recent bank robbery. Set in 1872, Phileas Fogg's escapade begins in London, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Life Is A Beautiful Day Today is a beautiful day. The sun is shining brightly, the grass is greener than ever, and the skies are pure blue. All around me is an exciting, party atmosphere, but the atmosphere is also bittersweet. Why would such lovely days like this be bittersweet? Because I'm going away to university in less than 2 days, and today is my going away house party. Everyone in my family is here, and so are my friends, and some neighbors. So far, I've gotten plenty of amazing gifts– whether it be some cash, a decoration for my dorm, or some other swell item. Absolutely everything is perfect, and everyone I have ever loved is at this party, everyone except Richard. 2 years ago, I blew up on him in a fit of fury fueled by heartbreak. I said things to him...show more content... After that, I slowly opened the gift box, and what was in there shocked me. In the box there's a navy blue book with the title "Memory Book" in gold lettering. I felt a rather sentimental smile come across my face as I faced Jordan. "You made this for me?" I questioned. "I did.... I really hope you like it, it was pretty tough to get all of the pictures together." Jordan admitted, then shrugged. Without another word I started to gently flip through the book, scanning the images in my head. I came across a picture of me, Jordan, and my other friend, Ashley, at our 11th grade year–end field trip. It's pretty neat that he had so many pictures of me, him, and some other people. It honestly made me really sentimental, and it became nearly bittersweet, because then, I see a picture of Maybelle, Richard, and I. A movie theater was in the background, so I guess this is when we went on an outing to the theaters where I brought Jordan along. From then on, everything fades back to me. I truly do miss both of them dearly, especially my own blood, Richard. Maybelle was another story, that isn't as important as Richard. Sure, I do long for her sometimes, but my cousin, who I've lived with my entire life, is, and should've been my priority back then. Suddenly, Jordan started rambling on about Maybelle and how she has changed. I guess he took notice of me studying the picture so much and he probably read Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay On 80's Culture Culture of the 80s The 1980s represented a change known as the glory days, something no one has seen since the 1920s. The exciting fast paced lifestyle is what captured most americans hearts. Life in general brought something new to society between new consumer goods and expanding cultures. In the end the 80s brought music, dance, television, movies, famous figures, and literature that would forever shape America. Changes in music were inspired by social and political issues at the time. It was most definitely a politically charged decade:cold war, unemployment, poverty in homes. Many artists used music as a form of escapism and or to get a point across. In 1981 MTV launched its first music video, 'Video Killed the Radio Star' by the...show more content... Famous movies for kids were GI JOE, Smurfs, and Alvin and the Chipmunks. These films brought in a large amount of revenue that companies decided to make action figures of their characters. Many family sitcoms were made especially for the families such as, Growing Pains, Alf, The Cosby Show and many more. Hollywood had plenty of money from 1980s movies, but they wanted to convert americans money into cold, hard cash. The most famous 80s classic movies were "The Little Mermaid" and "The Color Purple." Writers and producers new just how to make something from scratch and turn it into a masterpiece for everyone to enjoy and love. Famous political and social figures were very important in their 80s because they sculpted the culture in today's era. "Sticking through scandal and triumph, tragedy and joy, we're left with a decade full of memorable figures, some of which have broken through the millennium barrier and are still with us today."(Pia Sooney) Movie star icon, Tom Cruise won many awards, starred in many movies and influenced society with his hollywood face. The political figures were Jimmy Carter, George Bush, and Ronald Reagan. Each of these presidents helped the crisis that america had been in from the cold Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Cause And Effect Essay On Extreme Weather Events Extreme weather events seem to be more common due to recent global climate changes. Changes in climate events, such as floods, droughts, and hurricanes are the primary way that most people realize climate change has consequences. Human activities have caused majority of the observable effects on the environment. According to the IPCC, regions experience the effects of climate change at different times, which alters some regions' ability to acclimate or modify (Global Climate Change 1). Over the last five decades, many regions of the United States have experienced extended periods of excessively high temperatures, sea–level rises, decline in snowpack and in some regions, floods and droughts (Global Climate Change 1). Washington, a state in the northwestern region, is a prime example of a destination that has experienced all of the previously stated outcomes. Washington has two distinct climate zones. West of the Cascades have mild, humid, summer days that rarely past 79 degrees Fahrenheit, and winter days that range between 27 to 64 degrees Fahrenheit. Western Washington also experiences frequent cloud cover, fog, and annual snowfall of 26 inches. In opposition, east of the state experiences warm summers and cold winters, as well as annual precipitation of only six inches (Washington State 1). In terms of liquid precipitation, there are an average of 150.0 days of rain, with the most rain occurring in January with 18.0 days of rain, and the least rain occurring in July with Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Amy on the other hand, lives in space, and a beautiful day means the stars are shining bright. Amy has been living in space for the past 10 years only with her mom and dad. Amy walks out to the kitchen and is greeted by her parents. "Good morning Amy!" her mom and dad said in unison. "Good morning" Amy replied in an tired tone. Amy slowly walked to the counter and sat down. Her mom placed a plate of pancakes in front of her. he instantly started to eat them. When Amy ate, she looked out at the stars admiring how beautiful they were. You can be in space for ten years and never get sick of them. After she ate, she walked over to the living room to watch TV. "No way Amy! You haveschool to do!" Amy's mom yelled. Even though they lived in space, Amy still had to get an education. Amy was homeschooled. She frowned and walked to her room to get her school stuff, knowing that she had to do it. School was easy for Amy, she was very intelligent. Nevertheless, Amy was not good at one subject, English. When Amy wrote stories she didn't know what to write about. Her mom and dad had been her only friends and she had only seen Earth on TV. Amy never saw the ocean, mountains, or land. All she had ever known were stars. After two hours of schoolwork, Amy went to the kitchen to get lunch and take a break. • 6. Describe An Intercultural Experience In no more than 250 words, describe an intercultural experience (international or within the U.S.) and include what you learned from this experience. Truthfully, while I've interacted with many different people from many different cultures I haven't yet had the opportunity to dive deep enough to truly call them experiences. Though I've had small exchanges of culture with others, such as making authentic dumplings in cooking club and meeting people from all over the world at Michigan, I'm excited by the possibility of going to a new country and completely immersing myself in their way of life. Besides the small instances of cultural exchange at Michigan, the largest intercultural experience I've had is the time I went to my friend Niharika's traditional Indian graduation party. While we've been friends since middle school, our lives often seemed very similar to each other. It wasn't until I attended her graduation party that I understood how much our difference of cultures impacted parts of our...show more content... While researching study abroad opportunities, I noticed that there are many crossovers between the process for studying abroad and the engineering design process, all of which will be extremely important throughout my career. For example, the application process for studying abroad is very similar to an engineering project proposal, in that they both explain why this project (studying abroad) should be undertaken and how I am the best person for the job. In addition to this I will have to create a budget for myself, and procure funding for my trip, much as engineers must do for their projects. Lastly, and most crucial to an engineer's job, is being able to work in groups with people from different backgrounds in high stress environments. When studying abroad, I will have to work with people with completely different life experiences than Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This is to say, the Bombay–Calcutta railroad was not truthfully finished. Mr. Fogg's voyage was cut abruptly at the end of the railroad track. The passengers would have to travel the missing piece of the railroad by foot, a great delay to Phileas Fogg. Fogg showed no emotion at this, and instead, searched about and purchased an elephant and hired a guide. The adventure that would follow would imprint on Fogg a tinge of emotion in two month's time. On way to Calcutta, through the jungles and on an elephant, the party encounters a fanatical bunch of native Indians carrying an abducted princess, so the Parsee guide tells them. Fogg wastes no time in telling his companions they must not delay and rescue the girl, regardless how much time he might lose and the wager with it. • 9. Essay about Cultural Experience English 1130 Fall 2012 Cultural Diversity Assignment I didn't know where I should go to visit for my culture experience paper. I am neither into a play or temple, but I absolutely love food, all kinds of food. I think meals and restaurants are a great way to experience a different culture. The problem was what kind of food I should try and won't be too disappointed? So I called my brother who has numerous experiences in food. He told me that I should try a Greek food and there is a Greek restaurant in uptown called It's Greek to me, it is a nice place to go and offers delicious authentic Greek food. I was attempting and exciting. Therefore, I decided to try Greek food for my culture experience. Next following day, my boyfriend...show more content... They all looked amazing and delicious, I had to stop and take some pictures. My dish Beef Kebob had four juicy steak nuggets, and a moist medium–rare with flavors you won't find anywhere with some onion and pepper in between them. Couple this with vegetables and home–style potatoes. I took a first bite of potatoes and it tasted so sour. I didn't like much but I didn't get bother by it. As soon as I took the first bite of my steak nuggets, all the sour potatoes thoughts were disappeared and I felt so happy chewing on the steak. It was so tender and delicious. My boyfriend's dish also looked amazing, he really loved it. I didn't try because I don't like the taste of lamb. Soon after we both cleaned out the plate and left no room for desserts. We had to promise each other that we would come back again next time. After that, I called my brother and thank him for the wonderful suggestion. He told me little bit about Greek culture on food. He said his Greek friend told him that food is very important in Greek, Greek people take food very seriously. Family loves to come together and cook for a nice meal, enjoy the food, laugh and have fun together. I don't know much about Greek culture, but I guess I am interested in it now because this experience. One thing I notice that Greek food is amazing and they do really appreciate the food and create amazing dishes. • 10. Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Desert After working in the field on a scorching summer day I was as thirsty and hot as a lizard in the Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world, without water for nine years and nine months and nine days and being beaten down by scaring heat from the merciless sun. The idea of water seemed foreign to me because there were none around then. Suddenly, I saw a shiny, metallic water fountain and my body urged me in the direction of the water fountain. When I took a drink of water, my parched mouth felt relieved, as if I took a dive in a crystal clear pool on a hot summer day. The cold and refreshing water soared from the water fountain into my mouth and moisturized my rough, dry tongue. As the cold liquid sloshes down my throat, I let a small smile as the icy water alleviated my dehydrated body. However, my body is not only longing for water, but also as well as for sustenance. My stomach growl in defiance as it was deprived of proper nutritional substance for the next six grueling hours until dinner, which seemed to be in the distant future. When dinner time arrived, I was ravenous. I was so famished to point that I could down a full course meal in the time frame of five minutes or even less. When my mom, my lord, and savior, raining down a plate of juicy steak sided with mashed potato and a bowl of salad upon the table, my primal instinct urged me to force down the food like a caveman back in the stone age, disregarding any sort of table manner that existed, yet, with a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. The View From 80 Cowley Summary Malcolm Cowley, upon achieving eight decades of life, decided to write an essay, "The View from 80," in order to educate people. People who think they know a lot about being geriatric but have not actually experienced what it is like to be a senior citizen. Anyone can make observations or make educated guesses about what being old should mean, but Cowley objects that his view is more legitimate and the rest of the age groups should adjust their attitudes based on his assertions. Cowley does all of this in a light hearted and entertaining way. Using a casual structure, humorous anecdotes, stimulating imagery and witty language, Cowley shows that, even though the rest of the generations think that the aging should gradually fade away from society, relax after a long life and wait for fate to take its course, elderly people should not subscribe to this lifestyle. Rather, his aging compatriots should carpe diem and...show more content... 80, according to Cowley, is not the age to fade into the monotony of a nursing home and stop contributing to life. Humans should aspire to be more like Yeats, who, in his last week of life composed some of his best poetry. We should strive to be like Giovanni Papini, who continued to write books even after he could no longer see the words on paper, after he could no longer hold a pen for himself. There are ways around the physical obstacles that those of advanced age commonly face. With all the free time afforded to old people after retirement, they should not simply spend their days watching day time game shows and eating pudding. Cowley's "comrades in age" should avoid the typical vices, such as avarice, untidiness, and vanity. They should instead dedicate their time to creating and contributing and doing as much as they can in the time that they have. Why give up, suggests Cowley, when you can get up out of the LazyBoy recliner and enjoy the long life you were Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Around the World in Eighty Days Essay In the nineteenth, it seemed impossible to circumnavigate the world in only 80 days. That is, however, exactly what Phileas Fogg did in Jules Verne's Around the World in Eighty Days. This novel follows the journey of the eccentric Englishman Phileas Fogg as he races around the world on a bet. Accompanied by his faithful servant, Passepartout, and a scheming detective, Fix, he encounters many challenges he must overcome in order to return in time. In Around the World in Eighty Days, Jules Verne demonstrates the increased industrialization of the nineteenth century, while also exploring the growing movements of nationalism and imperialism. Phileas Fogg's journey is made possible by the growing industrialization of the time. One ...show more content... They could increase speed when needed and overcome many obstacles. This was demonstrated when one of the trains Phileas Fogg was traveling on approached a rundown bridge it needed to cross. "They perceived that the whole train, rushing on at the rate of a hundred miles an hour, hardly bore upon the rails at all" (125). This shows that trains were capable of reaching extreme speeds in order to arrive at a destination faster, or to clear obstacles. Overall, because trains had become more industrialized, they were able to connect more cities together to make travelling faster and more efficient. Another example of industrialization that appears in the novel is the use of boats. The "Mongolia" is one of the main boats that the party travels by. It is supposed to be one of the fastest steamers in the world, at the time, and indeed proves to be by completing its journey two days ahead of schedule (31). This is one example of the improvements made to boats because of industrialization. They are now able to hold more people and travel faster and for lengthier distances. Another example of this is the "Rangoon," a "screw steamer, built of iron, weighing about seventeen hundred and seventy tons, and with engines of four hundred horse–power" (62). This shows how advanced the manufacturing of these vessels was. In fact, many times throughout the novel, when Phileas Fogg misses some form of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I traveled through China, I traveled through Russia, and I traveled everywhere you can ever imagine. But my story starts in Jakarta. I didn't like traveling but I was challenged by my friend, Benny, to discover new things in this whole world, to do things that no one has ever done, and he said he would give me a surprise if I did it, so I took the challenge. I was confused where to start, but I kept on thinking. I texted my friend where to start and he told me just to follow the Earth. I kept on wondering what that meant, until I saw the map of the Earth. Spetses was my favorite island in Greece because the beach was awesome and Jessie and I had a lot of fun there. We did a lot of water sports and just chilled there. We went to 3 other islands called Hydra, Poros, and Aegina. After we left Greece we traveled around Europe. We went off Turkey, Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Scandinavia, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, until Portugal. I was very tired and rested in Portugal for 3 days. I'm also getting ready for the United States Trip. 3 days has passed and we are heading to U.S.A. We started off in Washington and used taxi to travel around New York. We took over a month in the U.S. In New York we watched an NBA match between the New York Knicksand the Orlando Magic and Knicks won. • 14. Essay on My Day My Day I wake up every morning with a shock, my mum knocking at the door and shouting, "Time for a shower." I'm always tired in the mornings and find getting up for a shower really horrible, though it does a good job of waking me up and after it I'm ready for another day at school. Well that is what I think but I usually end up in bed asleep right up until 7.45 am. Luckily I have usually packed my school stuff the night before. My house is quite big and there is lots of room to get away from the rest of my family. I have a computer in my room and I spend quite a lot of time on ...show more content... Another couple of friends arrive at this house too and we all get together and walk to school. This walking to school together gives me a good opportunity to make after school arrangements. Once at school (the walk takes about 15 minutes) I go to my tutor base and catch up with my friends who don't walk to school with me. After a short rest I make my way to my first lesson on a Monday usually English. English requires a lot of work and its quite interesting. All year it's work, work, work, which is hardly surprising seeing that it's GCSE year. I'm going to need to work hard because qualifications are a necessary part of any career and I definitely want a career not just a job. After the first two lessons I usually eat my lunch. It may seem strange that I eat my lunch at break but it takes so much time queuing at lunchtime just so I can sit down and eat some food that I would rather eat my packed lunch early freeing up time at lunch for other activities. The only downside to this is that you have lots of people surrounding you begging for food. Most people would probably just say "No", but I have real problems with saying "No" and more often than not half my food is devoured by these hungry beasts. Once break is finished I work until the real lunch time and then I hang around the common room or go to the library and do Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. The Impact Of Globalization On Our Lives Globalization has immensely affected the way people live all around the world. I had never realized how much globalization affected my own life. In fact, everything I do throughout my day has some connection to another place and culture. The first thing that I do when i get out of bed is unfortunately, check my phone. The first app I go on is Snapchat. It is the app that I use the most on my phone. The best feature Snapchat has is that it allows me to communicate internationally. Over the summer I had the luxury of becoming close with my friend Erin's foreign exchange student, Marta. Marta is from Spain and it was very hard not being able to see her once she went home. However, Snapchat allows me to send messages and funny...show more content... However, she is the most loving and affectionate dog I have ever met. If I have basketball that day (which is practically everyday), then my mom will drive me to the school. We just recently had to buy a new car because our old car had the possibility of breaking down in the middle of the road. The car that we ended up buying was a Toyota Highlander. Toyota is a multinational car company that is headquartered in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Basketball is honestly one of the only things that I truly love to do. I have literally taken a very large part out of my life and dedicated it to this sport. In my opinion it is one of the best sports to play. However, I wouldn't be able to do the thing I love if it weren't for James Naismith. He officially invented the sport in Illinois, but he was originally from Almonte, Canada. Another one of my hobbies is reading. I've always loved to read ever since I was a little girl. My dad would read me a book almost every night. One of my favorite series right now is the Did I Mention I Love You? series by Estelle Maskame. Maskame is a very young author and she originally wrote the first book of the series on Wattpad. The book didn't make it to the U.S until late 2014 because the author was born and raised in Scotland. After basketball, I'll come home and eat dinner. If I'm lucky, my dad will have brought home some food that my Nonna had cooked. Because Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. An Average Year Of 365 Days Essay In an average year of 365 days, there are only 262,800 minutes. In a lifespan of 80 years, there is just over 21 million minutes. That doesn 't seem like a lot, does it? One minute can fly by so fast that we barely even knew it was there. In fact, 262,800 minutes can fly by so fast that we barely remember our year or get anything accomplished. If you would rather make the most of your time, then you need to become more mindful of how you spend your time. Following are some ways to do that. Focus Less On Time And More Of How You Spend It Watching the clock is not the same as watching the sun set. Yet, we have clocks, watches, and phones that help us keep track of every moment in our life. We have become obsessed with time, in a way, and that obsession is causing us to be more mindful of time than of what we are actually doing with it. But, it is still important to get things done in a certain time period. So, we must be mindful of the time to some degree. The best way to stay mindful of time, but really stay mindful of what you are doing in the moment, is to use timers or alarms. Setting a timer helps you to stop looking at the clock and start paying attention to what is going on around you. You can become lost in what you are doing– spending time with family, doing daily tasks for success, cleaning the house, or whatever else, and instead of waiting for the time you have to switch gears and obsessing about it, you can be reminded of it with a simple alarm. • 17. Why Is The First Earth Day Successful 2020 marks for the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day; the focus will be to end plastic pollution (Earth Day). The first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970, it was celebrated all throughout the United States. Currently, it's a global event that people from all over the world celebrate. Before the movement started in the 1970's, a great oil spill happened in Santa Barbara, California 1969. Thus, the oil spill encouraged Senator Gaylord Nelson to have a day, to specifically focus on helping the environment and teach the public about natural disasters (History of earth day). As a result a year later, millions of people went to the streets protesting for the negative impacts of more than a hundred years of industrial development on the environment. The natural environment has been on a road of destruction ever since the industrial revolution. In addition, humans are overwhelmed with gaining wealth that they have ignored the natural environmental needs for hundreds of years. It can be said that this movement has been a great success in protecting the environment with all the participation of the civilians. There are three main reasons why Earth Day is successful: The first, is the strong focus of the movement, which promotes public awareness of pollution problems, the second, is all the positive influence the main media has have for the movement, and lastly, is the overall knowledge that people receive after participating in an Earth Day activity. First, Gaylord Nelson Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Right now, you believe that life as it is will resume for the next thousand years.
