Architecture is present in the reality of life and, above all, in the daily life of citizens. The level of culture of a country, together with the education and sensitivity of citizens, is what enables us to live in a more harmonious society.
2. Architecture is present in the reality of life and, above
all, in the daily life of citizens. The level of culture of a
country, together with the education and sensitivity
of citizens, is what enables us to live in a more
harmonious society.
3. That is why the declaration of these special days aims
to help everyone, each in their field, to rethink the
performance of their work in the best possible way to
commit themselves to society with the objectives of
responsibility that constitute the guarantee of
citizens' future of the world and its living space.
4. This year, World Architecture Day has the theme Sharing the
city, a theme proposed at the Istanbul Congress held by the
International Union of Architects (UIA) last July and in which I
had the honor of participating in its development. It focuses on a
solidarity in which the different aspects of cities are visible:
values, culture and heritage, habitability and quality, utility and
excellence, technology and humanity, and it is about sharing
resources with the less privileged and homeless to achieve a
sustainable environment.
5. Therefore, and directing our gaze towards the city of
the 21st century, the challenge that is presented to
the architecture is its ability to re-imagine solutions
that are oriented towards rational growth, based
more on the deep renewal of the tissues of the city.
consolidated city that in the uncontrolled
development of the peripheries.
6. The world of architecture must be able to participate
intensively in the activation of the development
potential of the modern city, providing new initiatives of
uses and programs, of activities capable of stimulating
urban awareness. Architecture has to be close to the
problems of citizens, opening perspectives and
generating horizons of activity where social cohesion is
strengthened, paying attention to planning with
programs to obtain affordable housing for the most
needy strata of population.
7. Architects must be able to draw the physical map
where society manages to develop its social activity.
For this they have to be attentive to the realities
presented by the new urban environment, such as the
continuous transformation of family structures, their
new configurations and the systematic reduction of
the number of their members, the increase of the
elderly population or the awareness of Respect and
care for the environment.
8. The proposals made from the field of architecture for the
solution of an increasingly complex panorama require total
complicity with all levels of the Administration and with the
private sector and the associations and institutions involved in
the definition of The new identity of the city.
9. From the Ministry of Housing we are working closely with all the
agents involved in the development of architecture and in the
definition of living spaces and, of course, with the architects,
which are an essential vehicle towards the citizen. We work to
rehabilitate the built, residential, endowment and urban
heritage, to increase the contents and actions in favor of
sustainability
10. Exhibitions that aim to investigate and disseminate the new
social, technological, environmental and cultural conditions that
should guide the construction of the new home for the beginning
of the 21st century, as well as different ways of occupying the
territory by providing information on different ways of creating
a habitable environment.
