The Sensing Washer is developed with similar functions to a thru-hole load cell and a unique patented anti-vibration structure for wide application in critical bolt joints in various industries.
It meets the DIN65151 anti-vibration standard and provides the greatest clamping force controllability, accuracy, and monitorability of the joint condition after bolted remotely and continuously or periodically. The developed APP will tell the torque equivalent of each preload value according to different fastener specifications and joint conditions for the operator’s reference.

1. Introduction of Anti-vibration Sensing Washer
The ultimate solution of high precision bolting works
The Sensing Washer is developed with similar functions to a thru-hole load cell and a unique
patented anti-vibration structure for wide application in critical bolt joints in various
industries.
It meets the DIN65151 anti-vibration standard and provides the greatest clamping force
controllability, accuracy and monitorability of the joint condition after bolted remotely and
continuously or periodically. The developed APP will tell the torque equivalent of each
preload value according to different fastener specifications and joint conditions for the
operator’s reference.
It’s an economical yet effective alternative for ultrasonic bolting technology and applicable to
any grade of the bolt with the same O.D. and easily accessible with a GPS module for
positioning or protection device for lighting in outdoor applications.
The entire series is compression only. It can be custom-made for any bolt and available in
multiple bolts outside diameters of 12mm I.D. and above. Temperature compensation for
operating range from -50 oC~+125 oC.
Capacities range from 10,000N through 2.000,000N and are available with a maximum
full-scale non-linearity of 0.5%. The output specification is a nominal 2 mV/V via a full
Wheatstone bridge configuration, using a strain gauge of the highest quality.
All Sensing Washers are supplied with a calibration certificate traceable to NIST (National
Institute of Standards and Technology)
Construction
SW utilizes all the advantages of bonded foil strain gauges. Sealed within the SW are sets of
matched strain gauges bonded to a high strength element, machined to close tolerances. The
strain gauges are electrically connected to form a balanced Wheatstone bridge. Additional
compensation resistors are added to the circuit to maintain the bridge's accuracy over a wide
temperature range.
Operation
The principle of operation depends upon the deflection of the strain gauge filament, creating
a change in its resistance, thereby unbalancing the bridge circuit. As a result, for a given
input voltage, the output voltage of the bridge varies proportionally with the load. The
changes can be monitored by appropriate instrumentation.
2. Quality
When completed, each SW is individually tested and calibrated. In addition, each SW must
meet or exceed rigid electrical and mechanical performance tests before it is released for
service. Also, every SW is proof tested to its full rated capacity, and in most instances, to over
its rated capacity.
Attributes
An essential asset of our SW is their minimal deflection. The maximum deflection of standard
cells does not exceed .010″ at full load. This plus the fact that these SWs contain no
moving parts opens unlimited application fields. The inherent compactness of the SWs
minimizes installation problems.
The frequency response characteristics of our SWs are outstanding. The relatively low mass,
and the slight deflection under load, result in a high-frequency response which emphasizes
the use of the SWs in many services where other competitors cannot perform.
Only strain gauges of the highest quality are installed and configured by technicians who
have undergone our extensive training program targeting craftsmanship and attention to
detail. To the end-user, this means a quality product.
