Do you feel relieved after getting a scholarship? I hope so, because at least some of your problems resolved. But do not be complacent; you must keep
your achievements in good condition. Why, because if your academic achievement decrease they can reduce or even stop the scholarships that you get.
One more thing you should think now, is scholarship that you get enough to cover all your needs? Both educational needs and the necessities of life,

Narrative Essay On Financial Aid
Burke 1II Matthew Burke English 1301 Professor Peterson 31 August 2015 Writing Composition I When I realized that my financial aid had not
gone through and that I would not be allowed to return to Texas Tech, I was mortified. Quite awhile I spent alone in my room, depressed from my
situation. I was victimized and my life was slipping away quickly. I tried everything! I pleaded my parents to sign the forms I needed but they
refused. I reluctantly tried to sign loans but with no credit and no one willing to cosign, no bank would trust me. It was hopeless. My poor behavior
soon found me evicted from my house as my father could only withstand it for a fortnight. I was now homeless with no job or money and my entire
future looked as bleak.

Essay about Information about Financial Aid
Financial Aid
Financial aid is money in the form of loans, grants and employment that is available to a student to help pay the cost of attending. Financial aid comes
from the federal government, which is the largest provider of aid, as well as state government, the school and a variety of other public and private
sources.
If you think your educational expenses are more than you and your family can afford, you should apply for financial aid using the Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You will need to apply forfinancial aid every year by completing a FAFSA. The FAFSA includes all the information
necessary to determine your eligibility and must be completed if you want to be considered for any of the federal programs...show more content...

federal government pays the interest on this subsidized loan while the student is in school or in deferment.

Financial Aid Benefits
Financial Aid is very beneficial for many students who want to succeed in college. Applying for financial aid gives you the help you need to pay for
the college or university of your choice. Financial aid is money that can support a person or cause. It can finance your college education from 3 forms
of aid; work–studies, loans, and gift aids such as grants and scholarships. Work–studies provides you with a part–time employment to students to help
with college expenses. If you get a loan, financial aid borrows you money and must pay back with interest. Gift aids is like free money and you don't
have to repay it. You can go to Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online to apply. FAFSA is one of the largest sources of aids for
students. The U.S. Department of Education handles FAFSA as well....show more content...

Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to afford to continue his or her education into the college level. Financial aid helps those in need to continue
their education, however, financial aid does not help everyone. One important group of people left out of receiving financial aid are those under the
age of 25, unmarried, with no children, and completely independent of their parent 's income. Because of how the system works, these people must
present their parent 's income on the FAFSA to see if they qualify for any financial aid.
Even if proof can be supplied to prove independence from one 's parents it makes no difference to the financial aid officials. Tax forms, checking

It may not be in the parents ' beliefs to pay for their college education. Many parents believe that after a student graduates high school they have
become an adult and must find ways to take care of themselves, including finding ways to pay for college on their own. If the student can prove that he
is independent from his parents then the financial aid process should be tailored to his income and not his parents.

Financial Aid Advantages And Disadvantages
According to a survey on CollegeBoard.org comparing data from 1987 to present day, room and board and tuition fees have increased significantly
from $1,590–$15,160 in 1987 all the way up to $3,570–$34,740 in 2017. While the price of education is increasing, financial aid is a valuable tool to
help students afford the rising cost. With a plethora of options available, it can be overwhelming to learn about each one as well as their own
drawbacks. Luckily, this guide is here to completely inform about financial aid, and as daunting as it seems, it boils down to three categories:
scholarships, grants, and loans. That said, before this paper delves into the three main topics, it's crucial to learn about eligibility first. To know what
makes a person eligible depends on their expected family contribution. When filling out the completely optional FAFSA form, it will ask for
information about finances both for the student and the parents. It uses the data given to calculate how much aid the student will receive. If the parents
make a lot of money, then the school's financial aid staff may determine that little to no aid is needed – even if the family is struggling. Expected
family contribution is calculated according to a formula established by law. Taxed and untaxed income, assets, and benefits of the family are all
considered in the formula. Also considered is the family size and the number of family members who are currently attending or will attend college
during the year.

Argumentative Essay On Financial Aid
There are many questions that you would need to ask the finacial aid office. For example, "what types of financial aid do you have?" This question is
needed to just broaden your mind on what all the office offers to see if any fits you. "How much debt do students have when they graduate?" When
paying your debt you really dont want to have so much that you will be spending half of your life paying for. Almost allcollege students finish college
with some debt. Another question would be "If I don't apply for financial aid this year, will that affect my eligibility for financial aid in subsequent
years?" You will need to make sure to not apply too late for finincial aid. A question hat would go with the last one is "what are the deadlines for

FAFSA Application Essay
To the Office of UCONN Financial Aid,
First off I would like to personally thank you for my financial aid award that I received last year. Both my parents emigrated from Kosovo with no
education so I am to pay for college myself; the aid not only gave me peace of mind but paired with scholarships allowed me to go to UCONN for an
extremely affordable price. So for that, I thank you. If it wasn't for the generous financial help of the school I wouldn't be able to attend UCONN.
Now for my appeal. There were a couple of factors that contributed to my late FAFSA application. I entrusted my father to help me through the process
of completing FAFSA but due to complications with my mental health and household problems, I was unable to complete...show more content...
With all this going on, completing my financial aid became something that was set to the side. I was crippled and was only focused on getting better
and not getting kicked out of UCONN.
Not only was this depression hindering me from doing anything, but also my father who I entrusted to help me complete my financial aid process was
not in my household for the majority of the time I went back home. My family was going through a lot at the time, and it was an ongoing struggle to
keep my parents together. Because my father was not available for most of the year, it was almost impossible to complete my financial aid. My mom
cannot speak English so that was not an option either. I was ultimately stuck.
With this letter to you, I urge you to please hear me out and help me. I do not have the money to attend UCONN because of my family's financial
situation. The aid I received was a blessing and gave me the opportunity to follow my dreams and make my parents proud. It was the main driving
factor for me going to UCONN as I pay for school myself. I had worked all summer and had planned to take whatever the difference was once
financial aid was factored in and pay for it with my hard earned money, but now I will not be able to do that because of a miscommunication with my
father and my mental illness. If I am granted financial aid, I will do whatever it takes to overcome

Student Financial Aid For Students
Staring from the 1940s, Student financial aid began to play a significant role in prompting student access, persistence and completion rate of American
Higher Education. Since students can be regarded as the output of the education, student financial aid also contributes to the social mobility and the
improvement of economics. Federal government, state governments and institutions jointly provide the funding to certain groups of students. Among
all types of financial aid, need–based aid and merit–based aid are most important financial aid for students. Higher Education Act of 1965 is a milestone
of the development of need–based aid. The Law was intended to "strengthen the educational resources of our colleges and universities and to provide
financial assistance for students in postsecondary and higher education." Specifically, the Pell Grant is the foundation of the federal financial aid
system. While the social turbulence of the 1960s may have been the impetus behind the Pell program, the groundwork for broad–based aid programs is
more appropriately attributed to the GI Bill. After 1965, the Higher Education Act of 1965 was reauthorized several times to achieve the goals.
Need–based aid is essential for college access and success. According to Turner's research (2013), every $1000 decrease of tuition price will lead to
4% of increase in college attendance. Evidence suggests that reducing college costs can increase college entry and persistence (Dynarski & Clayton,

Financial Aid Problems
One of the main problem that college students face when entering college is how much they have to pay in order to stay, this problem would be
solved by applying for financial aid, getting scholarships offered by the school or other organizations, and also to work while attending school. Every
student struggles with this problem and it is most likely the top problem that determines if a student wants to or can go to college. Problems such as this
one diminishes kids from going to college because they just do not have enough funds to get an education.
The top solution to this problem would be to apply for financial aid. Students will get different aid amounts determined on the income of their family
for that year. Some of the more wealthier families will get little to no financial aid, which is troublesome because no matter how wealthy the student
is they won't be able to pay out of pocket to go to college. So in this case less wealthier students will be getting the highest amount of financial aid
there is, but they still will not be able to pay for most of their college. Most students that do not have money for the remaining cost they take out loans.
But by taking out loans, most students come out of college still in debt because of the student loans that they have to pay back.
College students have another option of solving their...show more content...
But colleges have been making it easier to get financial aid, and giving students more opportunities so that more kids, who don't have to right funds
can go to college. Giving these rising college students as much financial aid and help that they can get could really make kids want to go to college
and lessen the dropout rate by a ton. These solutions of how the students could get financial help could really work, because most colleges do all they
can to help students go to college and get the education they need to be successful in

Financial Aid in Education
A guy in $50,000 of debt has got to be irresponsible with his money right? Actually, it is more likely that he is a college student. Hundreds of thousands
of college students around the country are in a financial predicament because of the government?s impersonal financial aid policies. The federal
government?s current system has too many quirks which end up hurting the people that financial aid is supposed to help. The federal government should
change its financial aid policies to take several more factors, such as the percentage of educational expenses paid by the student, into account.
Under the present system, all students applying for federal aid file a form called the Free Application for Federal...show more content...
The federal government does not use this application for aid. The CSS Profile is a service provided by The College Board. It includes many more
factors such as the age of the parents, house payments, and car payments. Mostly expensive private universities use the CSS Profile because their
students have much more financial need.
The current system does a fairly decent job of predicting the amount of aid needed assuming both the parents and the student are paying for the
student?s education. The big problem with the system is that not all parents help pay for their child?s education. According to the current system, the
student would have to cover the expected contribution from their parents as well as their own expected contribution should their parents decide not to
help foot the bill. For example, if a student from a middle class family which is earning $70,000 a year. Assuming the student was earning $3,000, and
that student wanted to attend Duke University, approximately $33,000 a year, the family would be expected to pay $13,641 of the bill for each year2.
If the parents choose not to help the student pay, then it would be the student?s responsibility to pay every bit of the $13,641. How many students
graduating high school can afford that? I think that this factor could quite possibly be the biggest reason that students think they cannot afford college.
Another problem is that the current system actually punishes students for saving their

SCHOLARSHIPS Essentially, scholarships can be classified as "free money" awarded to students to cover parts of their university education.
Scholarship funds do not have to be reimbursed. Some might think it is not worthwhile to apply due to how competitive most of them are. Scholarships
are often merit–based, which means the student must satisfy a qualification to get the reward. Qualification conditions can vary; being a great
student, a rising athletics star, or being part of a particular demographic could be items that the scholarship is seeking. Soon after finding an
appealing prize amount, make sure to look at the guidelines since it will list deadlines and the requirements. Based on the National Scholarship
Database, nearly 60 % of scholarship deadlines fall between the months of February and April. Consequently, individuals should start applying a

some serious time initially, but students might be able to use pieces of some applications for other scholarships, like essays or personal statements. All

Going to school and trying to afford it can be a financially draining experience, and I know that from experience. Our government has made many
relevant changes thus far to better support students, but much more can still be done. With rising tuition costs and not enough government aid, more
and more students are forced to take out loans in order to pay for continuing education. These loans later become a huge financial burden, some totaling
near $30,000. If the dream of a college education is dependent upon access and affordability, how are young people supposed to continue their
education and plan a future, when the cost of tuition is through the roof? Because higher education supports our economy, the government should be

A four–year degree costs students "more than $19,000" (Stieger), and in this day and age it is nearly impossible to survive with only a high school
education; being well qualified for a specific career position is very important to employers. George Leef, author of "Why on Earth Do We Have a
'Student Loan Crisis'?," says it best when he states that "college graduates are somewhat more reliable and easily trained than people with only high
school diplomas ... if there is a large enough number of [people] with college degrees, employers don't have to bother with people who don't have
them" (Leef 29). That being said, I wonder how young people are expected to obtain some sort of degree, when higher education is nearly impossible
for some families to afford. Although very significant changes have been made by our government offering improved financial aid to current and future
students, more can still be done. Our politicians could increase the Pell Grant maximum to coincide with rising tuition costs, increase taxes on
irrelevant goods and services to provide students with more direct funding, set up a "reward system" that would place more responsibility on the
students (rather than themselves), and most importantly, our two main parties in office need to agree on specific changes.
Appropriate steps have been made by our politicians towards offering enhanced financial support for students.

I didn't have an idea of the financial aid requirements entailed till it was too late. Freshmen and sophomore year were a year of trials and

There is no denial of merit based aid due to estimated family contribution, or family income; families are eligible for merit awards regardless of which
income bracket they belong. As a supplement to need–based aid, merit– aid can dramatically lessen the financial bludgeoning that college costs can
incur. Furthermore, the implementation of aid based on student achievement has been a tool of encouragement. Students can receive aid for their
excellence in athletics, academics, the arts, and for high scores on college entrance exams. High school students work hard to receive financial aid of
this kind, many of them taking on the most rigorous coursework offered such as AP classes. Bright, high achieving students are desirable to colleges
because they are seen as less likely to be a part of the retention population: students who leave college before completing a degree. The amount of
offered merit based aid is a motivator that often attracts students to certain colleges and universities. Why wouldn't we want to offer the brightest and
the best the money that they desire; they reciprocate, they are a benefit to society when they graduate and become successful lawyers, doctors and
educators. The problem however, is that the above benefits of merit–aid disproportionately favor middle and upper classes. Many families don't have
the money to pay for necessary utilities from month to month, and certainly not enough to even think of saving for college tuition. When

Narrative Essay On Financial Aid Burke 1II Matthew Burke English 1301 Professor Peterson 31 August 2015 Writing Composition I When I realized that my financial aid had not gone through and that I would not be allowed to return to Texas Tech, I was mortified. Quite awhile I spent alone in my room, depressed from my situation. I was victimized and my life was slipping away quickly. I tried everything! I pleaded my parents to sign the forms I needed but they refused. I reluctantly tried to sign loans but with no credit and no one willing to cosign, no bank would trust me. It was hopeless. My poor behavior soon found me evicted from my house as my father could only withstand it for a fortnight. I was now homeless with no job or money and my entire future looked as bleak. Applying for financial aid gives you the help you need to pay for the college or university of your choice. Financial aid is money that can support a person or cause. It can finance your college education from 3 forms of aid; work–studies, loans, and gift aids such as grants and scholarships. Gift aids is like free money and you don't have to repay it. You can go to Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online to apply. FAFSA is one of the largest sources of aids for students. • 7. Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to afford to continue his or her education into the college level. Financial aid helps those in need to continue their education, however, financial aid does not help everyone. One important group of people left out of receiving financial aid are those under the age of 25, unmarried, with no children, and completely independent of their parent 's income. Because of how the system works, these people must present their parent 's income on the FAFSA to see if they qualify for any financial aid. Even if proof can be supplied to prove independence from one 's parents it makes no difference to the financial aid officials. Many parents believe that after a student graduates high school they have become an adult and must find ways to take care of themselves, including finding ways to pay for college on their own. • 8. Financial Aid Advantages And Disadvantages According to a survey on CollegeBoard.org comparing data from 1987 to present day, room and board and tuition fees have increased significantly from $1,590–$15,160 in 1987 all the way up to $3,570–$34,740 in 2017. While the price of education is increasing, financial aid is a valuable tool to help students afford the rising cost. With a plethora of options available, it can be overwhelming to learn about each one as well as their own drawbacks. Luckily, this guide is here to completely inform about financial aid, and as daunting as it seems, it boils down to three categories: scholarships, grants, and loans. That said, before this paper delves into the three main topics, it's crucial to learn about eligibility first. To know what makes a person eligible depends on their expected family contribution. When filling out the completely optional FAFSA form, it will ask for information about finances both for the student and the parents. It uses the data given to calculate how much aid the student will receive. If the parents make a lot of money, then the school's financial aid staff may determine that little to no aid is needed – even if the family is struggling. Expected family contribution is calculated according to a formula established by law. Taxed and untaxed income, assets, and benefits of the family are all considered in the formula. Also considered is the family size and the number of family members who are currently attending or will attend college during the year. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Argumentative Essay On Financial Aid There are many questions that you would need to ask the finacial aid office. For example, "what types of financial aid do you have?" This question is needed to just broaden your mind on what all the office offers to see if any fits you. "How much debt do students have when they graduate?" When paying your debt you really dont want to have so much that you will be spending half of your life paying for. Almost allcollege students finish college with some debt. Another question would be "If I don't apply for financial aid this year, will that affect my eligibility for financial aid in subsequent years?" You will need to make sure to not apply too late for finincial aid. A question hat would go with the last one is "what are the deadlines for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Financial Aid In College Essay 75% of Americans verbalize that college is too expensive for most Americans to afford ("Pew Social"). The cost of college is greater than ever and rising every year. Most students need financial aid to afford college. College is too extravagant for most students to afford. College is not worth it because of its growing costs and financial aid, and college is too costly for most students, and it is too overpriced to plan and prepare for. Financial aid can assist with affording college (Mooney 8), however the cost of college is aggrandizing and there are plentiful obstacles of financial aid. A record share of students are departing college with a substantial debt burden ("Pew Social"). The reason is because students loans are tough to pay back. There are a lot of diverse types of financial aid available to students (Mooney 8). Grants and student loans are a few of the diverse types of financial aid. Acquiring financial aid is not guaranteed (Mooney 10). Financial aid can assist, yet it is not always guaranteed for a student. Jacqueline Hicks Grazette CEO, MyCollegeAdvisor.net says some people can get grants and scholarships to make it easier ("Make College"). Many students need an immaculate GPA to be presented with a scholarship ("Make College"). Not everybody has an untarnished GPA to get a scholarship so many students won't receive any scholarships. Athletic awards only award you with $8,000 and won't assist with the cost of college ("Make College"). The cost of college is so high that even if you get an $8,000 dollar scholarship it won't help. It doesn't matter if you start saving early you will not be able to afford college (Mooney 11). The price of college is so high that it won't matter if you start saving early. • 11. FAFSA Application Essay To the Office of UCONN Financial Aid, First off I would like to personally thank you for my financial aid award that I received last year. Both my parents emigrated from Kosovo with no education so I am to pay for college myself; the aid not only gave me peace of mind but paired with scholarships allowed me to go to UCONN for an extremely affordable price. So for that, I thank you. If it wasn't for the generous financial help of the school I wouldn't be able to attend UCONN. Now for my appeal. There were a couple of factors that contributed to my late FAFSA application. I entrusted my father to help me through the process of completing FAFSA but due to complications with my mental health and household problems, I was unable to complete...show more content... With all this going on, completing my financial aid became something that was set to the side. I was crippled and was only focused on getting better and not getting kicked out of UCONN. Not only was this depression hindering me from doing anything, but also my father who I entrusted to help me complete my financial aid process was not in my household for the majority of the time I went back home. My family was going through a lot at the time, and it was an ongoing struggle to keep my parents together. Because my father was not available for most of the year, it was almost impossible to complete my financial aid. My mom cannot speak English so that was not an option either. I was ultimately stuck. With this letter to you, I urge you to please hear me out and help me. I do not have the money to attend UCONN because of my family's financial situation. The aid I received was a blessing and gave me the opportunity to follow my dreams and make my parents proud. It was the main driving factor for me going to UCONN as I pay for school myself. I had worked all summer and had planned to take whatever the difference was once financial aid was factored in and pay for it with my hard earned money, but now I will not be able to do that because of a miscommunication with my father and my mental illness. If I am granted financial aid, I will do whatever it takes to overcome Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Student Financial Aid For Students Staring from the 1940s, Student financial aid began to play a significant role in prompting student access, persistence and completion rate of American Higher Education. Since students can be regarded as the output of the education, student financial aid also contributes to the social mobility and the improvement of economics. Federal government, state governments and institutions jointly provide the funding to certain groups of students. Among all types of financial aid, need–based aid and merit–based aid are most important financial aid for students. Higher Education Act of 1965 is a milestone of the development of need–based aid. The Law was intended to "strengthen the educational resources of our colleges and universities and to provide financial assistance for students in postsecondary and higher education." Specifically, the Pell Grant is the foundation of the federal financial aid system. While the social turbulence of the 1960s may have been the impetus behind the Pell program, the groundwork for broad–based aid programs is more appropriately attributed to the GI Bill. After 1965, the Higher Education Act of 1965 was reauthorized several times to achieve the goals. Need–based aid is essential for college access and success. According to Turner's research (2013), every $1000 decrease of tuition price will lead to 4% of increase in college attendance. Financial Aid Problems One of the main problem that college students face when entering college is how much they have to pay in order to stay, this problem would be solved by applying for financial aid, getting scholarships offered by the school or other organizations, and also to work while attending school. Every student struggles with this problem and it is most likely the top problem that determines if a student wants to or can go to college. Problems such as this one diminishes kids from going to college because they just do not have enough funds to get an education. The top solution to this problem would be to apply for financial aid. Students will get different aid amounts determined on the income of their family for that year. Some of the more wealthier families will get little to no financial aid, which is troublesome because no matter how wealthy the student is they won't be able to pay out of pocket to go to college. So in this case less wealthier students will be getting the highest amount of financial aid there is, but they still will not be able to pay for most of their college. Most students that do not have money for the remaining cost they take out loans. • 14. Financial Aid in Education Essay Financial Aid in Education A guy in $50,000 of debt has got to be irresponsible with his money right? Actually, it is more likely that he is a college student. Hundreds of thousands of college students around the country are in a financial predicament because of the government?s impersonal financial aid policies. The federal government?s current system has too many quirks which end up hurting the people that financial aid is supposed to help. The federal government should change its financial aid policies to take several more factors, such as the percentage of educational expenses paid by the student, into account. Under the present system, all students applying for federal aid file a form called the Free Application for Federal...show more content... The federal government does not use this application for aid. The CSS Profile is a service provided by The College Board. It includes many more factors such as the age of the parents, house payments, and car payments. Mostly expensive private universities use the CSS Profile because their students have much more financial need. The current system does a fairly decent job of predicting the amount of aid needed assuming both the parents and the student are paying for the student?s education. The big problem with the system is that not all parents help pay for their child?s education. According to the current system, the student would have to cover the expected contribution from their parents as well as their own expected contribution should their parents decide not to help foot the bill. For example, if a student from a middle class family which is earning $70,000 a year. Assuming the student was earning $3,000, and that student wanted to attend Duke University, approximately $33,000 a year, the family would be expected to pay $13,641 of the bill for each year2. If the parents choose not to help the student pay, then it would be the student?s responsibility to pay every bit of the $13,641. How many students graduating high school can afford that? I think that this factor could quite possibly be the biggest reason that students think they cannot afford college. Another problem is that the current system actually punishes students for saving their Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Essay On Financial Aid According to a study on CollegeBoard.org comparing data from 1987 to present day, room, board, and tuition fees have gone up considerably from $1,590–$15,160 in 1987 all the way up to $3,570–$34,740 in 2017. With a plethora of options available, it can be overwhelming to learn about each one as well as their own shortcomings. Luckily, this guide is here to completely inform about financial aid, and as daunting as it seems, it boils down to three categories: scholarships, grants, and loans. SCHOLARSHIPS Essentially, scholarships can be classified as "free money" awarded to students to cover parts of their university education. Scholarship funds do not have to be reimbursed. Some might think it is not worthwhile to apply due to how competitive most of them are. Scholarships are often merit–based, which means the student must satisfy a qualification to get the reward. Qualification conditions can vary; being a great student, a rising athletics star, or being part of a particular demographic could be items that the scholarship is seeking. Soon after finding an appealing prize amount, make sure to look at the guidelines since it will list deadlines and the requirements. Based on the National Scholarship Database, nearly 60 % of scholarship deadlines fall between the months of February and April. Consequently, individuals should start applying a couple of months earlier, sometime close to September and December seems to be an ideal choice. Some applications may need students to devote some serious time initially, but students might be able to use pieces of some applications for other scholarships, like essays or personal statements. All said, scholarships are a fantastic Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Going to school and trying to afford it can be a financially draining experience, and I know that from experience. Our government has made many relevant changes thus far to better support students, but much more can still be done. With rising tuition costs and not enough government aid, more and more students are forced to take out loans in order to pay for continuing education. These loans later become a huge financial burden, some totaling near $30,000. If the dream of a college education is dependent upon access and affordability, how are young people supposed to continue their education and plan a future, when the cost of tuition is through the roof? Because higher education supports our economy, the government should be expected...show more content... A four–year degree costs students "more than $19,000" (Stieger), and in this day and age it is nearly impossible to survive with only a high school education; being well qualified for a specific career position is very important to employers. George Leef, author of "Why on Earth Do We Have a 'Student Loan Crisis'?," says it best when he states that "college graduates are somewhat more reliable and easily trained than people with only high school diplomas ... if there is a large enough number of [people] with college degrees, employers don't have to bother with people who don't have them" (Leef 29). That being said, I wonder how young people are expected to obtain some sort of degree, when higher education is nearly impossible for some families to afford. Although very significant changes have been made by our government offering improved financial aid to current and future students, more can still be done. Our politicians could increase the Pell Grant maximum to coincide with rising tuition costs, increase taxes on irrelevant goods and services to provide students with more direct funding, set up a "reward system" that would place more responsibility on the students (rather than themselves), and most importantly, our two main parties in office need to agree on specific changes. Appropriate steps have been made by our politicians towards offering enhanced financial support for students. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Reflective Essay On Financial Aid I didn't have an idea of the financial aid requirements entailed till it was too late. Freshmen and sophomore year were a year of trials and tribulations. Completing approximately 12 out of 38 credits mostly due to the fact I was moving my schedule around to fit my schedule and losing multiple family members and getting diagnosed with ADHD and depression by the DRES department, I had so much to deal with that I found myself struggling. I wasn't able to redeem myself after I got my warning because even though I completed all that I registered for, I would still get my financial aid suspended. I have had to appeal ever since I got my warning because of extenuating circumstances such as deaths in the family and disabilities and other times because I had to because even though I complete every class I attempted for the previous semesters excluding fall 2015, I won't make the completion rate because I dropped so many classes freshmen year first semester. Finally getting started on my medication this semester and my parents going through divorce held me back this semester. The decision to start me on my ADHD medication came after trying all the options suggested...show more content... Financial Aid Application Essay Sample I am filling out the Federal Financial Aid Suspension Appeal in regards to personal reasons I endured during the Fall of 2006 and the Spring of 2010 semesters. In 2006, I regret to say that I was not fully prepared to take on the responsibility of going to school full time. I did not have the proper resources to be successful. During the fall of 2006, I lacked a reliable vehicle and was unable to get transportation to and from school. This greatly affected my ambition to further my education and drove me to concentrate on working full time and taking care of my financial obligations. I soon found myself with a great job at Cessna and began the procedure in purchasing a home. Specifically, this choice would impact southern dwelling African–Americans. The socioeconomic and cultural effects were great. There is no denial of merit based aid due to estimated family contribution, or family income; families are eligible for merit awards regardless of which income bracket they belong. As a supplement to need–based aid, merit– aid can dramatically lessen the financial bludgeoning that college costs can incur. Furthermore, the implementation of aid based on student achievement has been a tool of encouragement. Students can receive aid for their excellence in athletics, academics, the arts, and for high scores on college entrance exams. High school students work hard to receive financial aid of this kind, many of them taking on the most rigorous coursework offered such as AP classes. Bright, high achieving students are desirable to colleges because they are seen as less likely to be a part of the retention population: students who leave college before completing a degree. The amount of offered merit based aid is a motivator that often attracts students to certain colleges and universities. Why wouldn't we want to offer the brightest and the best the money that they desire; they reciprocate, they are a benefit to society when they graduate and become successful lawyers, doctors and educators. The problem however, is that the above benefits of merit–aid disproportionately favor middle and upper classes. Many families don't have the money to pay for necessary utilities from month to month, and certainly not enough to even think of saving for college tuition. When Get more content on HelpWriting.net
