I had the honor and privilege of not only supervising, but mentoring and watching Whitney Earls
grow and succeed as a Leader in the Marines and beyond. I directly supervised Whitney from January 2009
until May 2011. During this time, Whitney demonstrated vast experience and knowledge in the
performances of her duties as a Sergeant of Marines, which is the equivalent of mid-level manager. With
the help of Whitney, I was able to manage and delegate duties to her to supervise the operations of a
battalion supply office, managing in excess of $150-million dollars of equipment and the purchase and
contracting of over $100-million dollars in parts, supplies and maintenance.
During multiple deployments to two separate combat zones, Whitney was place in position of
supervising and maintaining various of accounts of equipment and supporting a Marine Expeditionary Force
of 20,000 Marines, to include individual equipment and rations.
As her direct supervisor, I can attest to her capabilities in making competent decisions on her own.
She is able to manage and delegate duties to ensure they are planned and completed in a timely manner,
set in the best interest of any organization.
