Pros And Cons Of Green Energy
Solar energy is energy harnessed from the sun's rays and turned into power. This is considered green energy because green energy is a natural source
used for energy. Solar power works by special energy cells converting sunlight into a direct current to power houses. Basically the particles of sunlight
hits a solar panel. The solar panel then turns this into a direct current which is then used to power electronic things. Solar energy is used very often and
has been a growing economy for years. A lot of Americans are now switching and jobs are going up.
The future of solar energy is looking good, new advancements are coming out, people are switching and the field overall is improving. Some new
advancements for the future are stronger power. Thats right multi terawatt power in panels is one improvement engineers are working on for the
future. The panels will be cheaper and that means more affordable. More affordable means people save money and get more power! So more will
want to flock to this field and that's a major economy win. Not only will it be cheaper with more power they are also predicted to be easier to
produce to keep up with the crowds and having more products for the crowds is just what it needs.
The pros of solar energy is that it's renewable, it has a lot of potential for the growing market. Solar energy doesn't cause pollution and it can be
contained so we don't have too, too much. It's available all over the world too! Even though this pro is more of an upside to people in general is that
it's silent unlike most electric methods. Some cons of this energy is that it can be pricey sometimes, however they are working on it. Another con is
that it collects from the sun so it could be a problem when it's cloudy but it does save so you won't be powerless. Space is also a concern because
typically these large panels take up your roof but what if your roof isn't applicable it has to be on the ground or elsewhere.
To show solar to another green energy here is a compare and contrast of wind and solar.Wind power is more popular than solar in the USA and that is
a fact, but wind powers turbines take up way more space than solar panels. If the area you are in is not windy the wind power

Today's society encourages us to change our lifestyles and become more environmentally friendly. There are numerous theories and facts about global
warming and one of those is to increase the use of renewable energy sources. There is unprecedented interest in renewable energy, especially solar and
wind energy. Renewable energy sources provide electricity without giving rise to carbon dioxide emission (World Nuclear Association). It is
impossible to convert to these sources completely, however there are things that we can do as individuals and as communities to be more
environmentally friendly .
As humans advance in technology, the amount of fossil fuels burned is increased at a rapid rate. This is an issue because with this increasing...show

It is projected that at the rate Americans are using hydro for energy that the "hydropower industry has the potential to create 1.4 million cumulative
jobs by 2025" which would help since the unemployment percentage has been rising slowly (National Hydropower Association).
Hydropower has also been a big contributor when it comes to making earth a healthier place to live on. Since the earth is composed of mostly
water, hydropower is a very easy energy to obtain and water will always be there. It has become a vital source of energy in United States and is
"account[ed] for 65.9 percent of all renewable energy generation in the United States" and is steadily rising (National Hydropower Association). Along
with being the largest source of renewable energy, hydropower is very affordable and "since hydro taps the self–renewing power of our waterways,
electricity from hydro is not subject to unpredictable price swings in the markets for energy commodities" which makes it very reliable (National
Hydropower Association). It is important for a source of energy to be affordable and available because it will allow for that source to be used for an
extended period of time. Hydropower is slowly becoming the top energy resource for humans and with that comes a cleaner and safer planet for
humans to live on.
Hydropower can only be used in certain areas of the land. It requires large storage

Essay about Renewable and Clean Energy
As these days global warming, pollutions and fuel shortages are getting more and more serious through time, renewable and clean energy is
increasingly the ideal solution to energy related problems we have to solve one way or another. Biofuel is currently one of the mainstream and
highly supported solutions, an idea to make renewable fuel by living organisms such as fiber, corn, vegetable oil or sugarcane. Biofuels, unlike
nonrenewable fossil fuels over extracted by people, contains the potential to tackle most of the problems people encounter when using fossil fuels.
This makes renewable fuels making it a cleaner source of energy, and a better option than fossil fuels that will ran out shortly sooner or later. The two

The second part of the essay will discuss some of the weaknesses in applying the fuel into practical usage. For example, corn ethanol is currently
encountering technical limitations serving it as a standalone fuel, meaning that corn ethanol can only function by combining it with a certain amount
of gasoline, while gasoline is a kind of fossil fuel. Finally, this essay will conduct a comparison with other renewable resources in the world,
including solar power, other biofuels, and hydrogen fuel. The most noticeable advantage of corn fuel as an enhancement of fossil fuels is also the
biggest advantage of ethanol energy a renewable fuel. Gasoline as a fuel is extracted from petroleum, and what makes petroleum an unreliable source
of energy is that petroleum is nonrenewable, meaning it would run out some day in the future. Contrary, corn ethanol is a renewable source of energy,
meaning if corns are replanted and remade into fuel, corn ethanol can be a long–term, sustainable energy source (gracelinks.org). Corn ethanol has the
potential to produce a perfect solution of the energy crisis that will happen sooner or later, as experts predicted petroleum will run out in around fifty
years (Gupta,p15). Another main benefit of corn fuel as the future fuel is that the

Investment in Green Energy Production
Case Study–Indonesia
Introduction
The term Green energy refers to energy sources which have less injurious impacts on the environment in comparison with the traditional sources of fuel
such petroleum, coal, natural gas etc. The use of green energy is intended to produce power without causing much harm to the natural habitat and also
in a rather pollution free manner. Indonesia has been taking measures and been involved in policy reforms meant for facilitating the use of green energy.
Various projects have been initiated in this regard. In the case of Green energy, the typical forces of demand and supply are activated and this industry
is becoming excessively lucrative from investment point of view.
Investment in Green Energy in Indonesia
In order to select a potential project which is worthy of investment, the overall dynamics of green energy in Indonesia have to be considered. As per the
current statistics available.
Indonesia has managed to cross the benchmark of USD 1 Billion in Green energy investment and has observed 520 percent growth in investment in
2011.
As policy measures, Indonesia has various policies in place such as Energy Law(LawNo.30/2007), Geothermal Law(LawNo.27/2003), Geothermal
Business (GovernmentRegulationNo.59/2007), Green Energy Policy (MinisterialDecree:No.0002/2004) which would encourage the use of green
energy in Public as well as private sector. The aim is to increase the share of renewable energy

Green Energy and the Carbon Footprint
1.What is "green energy?"
According to Cambridge Dictionaries Online, green energy is "energy that can be produced in a way that protects the natural environment, for example
by using wind, water, or the sun". Solar energy is the conversion of the rays from the sun into a useful form of energy, such as heat or electricity. Solar
energy when converted to thermal/heat energy can be used to both heat water and heat spaces in buildings and homes. Wind energy is another example
of green energy.Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a form of energy by means of wind turbines and windmills. Hydroelectricity refers
to using hydro power, the power that comes from the energy of either falling or running water, to produce electricity. This is the most widely used form
of green or renewable energy. Another example, geothermal energy, is a form of thermal energy that is generated in the earth. Hot springs are an
example geothermal energy that has been used for bathing, space heating, and the generation of electricity. Ocean thermal energy uses the temperature
difference between the warmer surface ocean water and cooler deep water to produce electricity.
2.What is "carbon footprint?"
According to Wikipedia, a carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide that a person emits during their day to day activities. It measures the
quantity of resources you use and how your actions contribute to the greenhouse gas emissions. These emissions are what

The nuclear energy debate has persisted for decades. Those who strongly oppose it argue that its benefits, such as carbon–free emissions and low fuel
costs, are almost irrelevant when the risk posed by radioactive waste and reactor meltdowns are factored in. The problem revolves around how little
waste storage is prioritized in the planning stages of a reactor, including the locations of waste storage, leading to a surplus of radioactive waste at
reactor sites. With the progress being made to advance waste disposal methods and increase public participation in countries that need storage for
accumulating waste and developing countries considering nuclear energy, nuclear energy could be the new "green" energy alternative. For...show more

Once such an institution, whether it is overseen by the government or privately owned, is established countries can turn their attention to
conceptualizing strategies to garner public cooperation, change environmentalists negative opinions, and overcome political opposition, which seems
to be the death of many of these projects. If developing countries are more inclined to utilize nuclear energy with a clear and safe method of disposal
established, they, along with nuclear states, will be more open to the idea of a multinational repository site. A multinational site would mean a
reduced amount of spent fuel and radioactive waste at already overburdened nuclear reactors that would be waiting decades for a geological
repository to be built (McCombie). Careful planning and support from volunteer communities have helped repository sites like the one in Osthammar,
Sweden avoid the fate of the United State's Yucca Mountain Project. The United States is an established nuclear state with many reactors providing a
stable and steady amount of energy to major cities, but with no place to take the waste produced by all of these reactors. That's where Yucca Mountain
came in. It presented an ideal alternative to the current methods of waste storage, such as the dry cask design presently used by the United States,
because it takes the spent nuclear fuel out of the reactors

Persuasive Essay On Clean Energy
Clean Energy; A Huge Wasted Opportunity Global warming and what to do about it has been a very debated issue for a very long time. While we
stand around and debate on whether humans have caused it the earth continues to get hotter. The fact of the matter is we have to at least try to do
something. If we stand around and debate all our lives nothing will ever get done and there's not even a possibility of things getting better. At least if
we do something there's a chance we can make a change. Science has proven that a lot of the by–products of our machines and everyday life are gasses
with the ability to hold heat. Therefore, I propose we cut down on the emissions we produce in the United States by using more clean energy sources.
Understanding Global Warming
To be able to understand why my proposal will work one must first understand what global warming is and how it works. Global warming is quite
simple and very complex all at the same time. Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like, the earth is getting hotter. However, the reason it is getting
hotter is very fascinating. Imagine the earth like a car and life on earth as the husband sitting in the car waiting for his wife to exit the grocery store.
It's a beautiful day and she said she would be right back so he doesn't mind waiting. He gets impatient after a while of waiting but is thankful that his
wife put the windows down before she left. Now imagine our emissions as the windows being rolled up. As he waits the sun

Green Energy is a Substitute Energy Source
Introduction
"Green" (or alternative) energy is a substitute energy source for fossil fuels. Alternative energy is interchangeable with Renewable energy since the
sources that are generated are natural and cannot be exhausted, all of which have minimal environmental impact. Alternative energy sources include
solar power, which is acquired from the sun; wind power; water energy, which produces hydroelectricity; and biomass energy, which comes from plants.
Due to these sources being free and causing no harm to the environment, they are increasingly being used around the world. The energy sector has been
growing, as governments are adapting environmental policies to reduce pollution and welcoming alternative energy sources.
Alternative energy has many economic, environmental and social benefits. Economically, alternative energy satisfies the continuous and ever–growing
demand and cost of energy. As the world populates and new discoveries are made on a daily basis, energy sources are not only being exhausted, they
are also harming the environment, and thus people. Due to the high demand for energy and not so high supply, prices are rising day by day.
Alternative energies are the solution to this problem, as their cost ranges from nothing to low. Environmentally, switching from fuels to alternative
energy saves our world from impacts such as pollution, global warming and deforestation. Socially, our growing dependence on petroleum from around
the world can be risky, as supply

application of environmental science as well as technology in the creation of products, systems and equipment with the aim of conserving the
environment and the natural resoruces in general. Researchers indicate that the use of green technology is gaining increasing popularity across the
globe. In the USA for instance, an estimated 57% of the companies use this technology as well as practices to enhance the efficiency of energy (Feng

home. However in the long run, the practice has significant costs savings in terms of reduced energy costs. The green building practice is also
disadvantaged by the unavailability of the green building raw materials. Research shows that several products are not readily available which can be
challenging for designers especially if they have to get them from distant supplier (Coad,

The Power Of Green Power Essay
Green Power
Energy is everywhere it 's in your phone to your community's hospital. Many years ago humans lived with no energy supply, now in 2016 it 's
essential. As energy was discovered and objects which consumed such energy the demand increased, as a result so did the search for sources to obtain
such power, people relied on coal, nuclear power, etc. all which contaminated the planet. However, there are also alternative energy power produced
by renewable resources such as, solar with solar panels, river currents hydro power, or even wind with wind turbines. Wind turbines are seen along the
road, but what are they? Why should people keep pursuing this energy source? Wind turbines work to produce energy, and are also essential, not only
for people but for the planet.
What is a wind turbine? A wind turbine, is the process in which a turbine takes wind and produces clean energy(electricity) free from harmful
gasses, to power this turbine wind is needed but how is wind obtained? What is wind? "Wind is a form of solar energy and is a result of the
uneven heating of the atmosphere by the sun, the irregularities of the earth 's surface, and the rotation of the earth"(How Do Wind Turbines
Work?). In other words wind is a renewable source such as solar energy. It 's produced when warm air rises to the atmosphere and later on is cooled
down making it sink down, as warm air goes up cool air takes its place causing what we know as wind. Therefore the way a wind turbine will perform

With an abundance of government–funded tax breaks and subsidies available to encourage buildings to go green, it is no wonder why so many
companies are interested in converting their real estate into energy efficient areas. The ability to win a multi–million dollar tax break is quite a
motivator, but just how much are these companies really doing to turn their properties green? It turns out that many will do the bare minimum to win
over this green certification, and most end up using just as much energy as they previously did. This is why a recertification effort needs to be done
conducted to ensure that green buildings are truly energy efficient and are not just products of managers looking to save a few dollars. Such a project

This means that they can do very little to do so by only taking the smallest steps needed to get 40 total points. They can do this by creating pleasant
and healthy office spaces, using common building materials, providing parking for fuel–efficient vehicles, implementing bike racks and showers, and
posting educational displays (Schnaars and Morgan). None of these actions actually reduce emissions or make a building greener, but if a company
completes enough of them, they can win over subsidies regardless of how little effort they have put in.
It is not just LEED that has been promoting this mindset of only carrying out a bare minimum effort. Organizations in existence such as the U.S. Green
Building Council were created to help guide companies to achieve green certification through the cheapest means possible. It has advised universities
to achieve green points by offering courses on green building, told employers to give workers a video game room and fitness center, and instructed
builders to create fire–alarm systems that minimize the stress on firefighters all with the intention to buy easy points (Schnaars and Morgan).
Considering that a building only needs 40 of these points to be considered green, it seems much too easy for them to achieve green certification by
doing things that barely make them green at all. One way to make companies and buildings step

Research Paper On Green Energy
Green Energy Green energy stands for the energy sources as well as technologies that give the maximum benefits to the environment that we live in.
These are sources that produce electricity yet have an environmental profile that is graded higher than the conventional technologies for power
production and does not emit any anthropogenic greenhouse gases. It is worth noting that some green energy sources however have some impact on
the environment, albeit very insignificant impacts for instance the building of a dam for hydroelectric plant could dismally affect the immediate
surrounding at the dam as well as fisheries down the river. The existing green energy sources are solar energy, wind energy (harvested using wind
turbines), geothermal energy (harvesting energy trapped in the earth), biogas (natural gas beneath the earth surface) and biomass (energy from
biological material) apart from the hitherto mentioned hydroelectric source (EPA, 2012). Carbon Footprint Carbon footprint is a representation of the
effect that the human activities are passing on to the environment and the climate in particular. These activities are considered in terms of the amount
of greenhouse gases emitted from the activities. Individual carbon footprint is the direct impact that the personal lifestyle has on the environment.
More often than not the term is used to refer to the amount in tones that an activity or an organization emits into the environment (Global Footprint
Network, 2012).

Argumentative Essay On Renewable Energy
Renewability
For nearly everyone on earth, fossil fuels are a part of our daily lives. Some of the more obvious places to find petroleum products would be gas and
diesel in cars and trucks, but it is in more than just your tank. Without fossil fuels, we would not have things such as plastic to make a wide variety of
things such as tires, kayaks, or even computers. The question remains, do we need fossil fuels?
In this day and age, we have new energy sources that could be used to power our homes and transportation. Wind and solar power are used all over
the world, but are still used far less than fossil fuels. Most would say it's not reliable or it doesn't make any profit. While both statements are true, it
doesn't mean we can't make a better future using renewable energy. In fact, the only reason we don't use renewables for everything is that we don't want
to change. The hard truth is we need to change. Fossil fuels are great right now, but if we run out, humanity must have another source of energy.
Renewable energy may seem like a daunting task, but the benefits to humanity could be incredible. Public uses of renewable energy range from
transportation all the way to heating and cooling. Everything we use could become less explosive and less expensive. Cities with a high concentration
of people could become safer and healthier places to live. Transportation could be converted to electricity dramatically, improving smog conditions.

Pros and Cons of Green Living Essay
Green living and renewable energy has been a hot topic in discussions for years. Politicians, environmentalists and companies have made their
points on both sides of the argument and tried to force their beliefs onto the public. The masses have now heard how renewable energy helps reduce
pollution and how expensive it would be to switch our lifestyle but I don't think many people know why we need this change or why it is not
necessary. Green living has been shown to help reduce our carbon footprint and help the planet but others are saying that it is a waste of money and
not necessary in order to survive. By far, the most popular argument in support of a more eco–friendly lifestyle is the fact that it reduces waste and

one; cleaner air, cleaner water, and a cleaner planet are just some of the benefits that we could enjoy in our lifetime. Although it is not an
immediate result, the change we make now will benefit the upcoming generations and make their world a better place to live. If people really sat
down to think about it, this project is not a waste of money, it is a long term investment that will pay off and bring back even more profits. While I
see it as an investment, the opposition is skeptical as to how much the change can benefit us. While the arguments for green living can be heard
everywhere, the opposition also has their reasonable amount of beliefs that counter the debate. The most obvious of these ideas is that the results
generated are not quick enough. The change in fuels for cars alone can take a handful of years and in the end, it won't be our generation that benefits
from it. Instead of seeing the results, we are stuck in working for the future population's benefits. As for the revenue that would be created it will, like
the statement before, take years to bring back the money "invested". Plenty of companies would fund green projects but when they see how long it
takes to get profit, they steer away from it and frankly, who wouldn't. Why waste millions of dollars when

Green energy is a term used for sources of power and energy that are environmentally friendly. Basically this includes anything that is renewable energy.
Renewable energy is considered energy that is constantly being replaced such as wood, vegetable matter, and trash. Green energy 's main focus is to

Earth's Natural Energy Sources Essay
INTRODUCTION
Renewable energy is energy produced from natural resources such as, wind, sunlight, rain, tides and geothermal heat which can be re–used or
replenished. Natural energies (renewable energies) have its advantages and disadvantages. The reliance on fossil fuel is reduced by the sources of
renewable energy. Though the use of natural sources has many advantages over the use of fossil fuels, the cost of investment for it can be too high for
some people.
In this project, I will be highlighting mainly on the sources of natural energy and its advantages and disadvantages.

Furthermore, wind turbines takes op less space than power stations.
DISADVANTAGES OF WIND ENERGY
If we need to produce large amount of electricity, we need to have loads of wind turbines. However, some people reckon wind turbines to be something
that spoil the countryside.
HYDROPOWER
The word, 'hydropower' itself describes that it's something to deal with water. The utilizing of energy in water is known as hydropower (also
sometimes called as hydraulic power). It is conceivable to collect the energy in moving water and convert it to useful power. The fact that water is
800 times denser than air enables to get a significant amount of energy harvest even from a slow flowing stream of water, or moderate sea swell.
One of the oldest examples of the use hydropower is watermill.
ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF HYDROPOWER
Firstly, this is a cheaper way of generating electricity as water used is free. No green house gas is being produced while the electricity is generated.
However, the cost to build dams is high. Moreover, by building a dam, the nearby area has to be flooded and this could affect nearby wildlife and plants.
SOLAR ENERGY
Solar energy is the energy provided from the sun. Though the other forms of renewable energy, such as, wind, hydropower or biomass is thought of
as separate forms of energy, they can actually be drawn back to solar energy. Solar energy can also be referred as thermal energy as it provides heat.

Hydroelectric power plants are a long–standing renewable source.
The growing sources of energy production are solar and wind. Fossil fuels generate carbon dioxide and large amounts of residues, such as fly ash and
bottom ash. Philosophically, most of the energy we are using came from the Sun.
For example, coal, oil, oil shale, and tar sand were produced over millions of years from forest growth. If we could harness solar radiation, then most
of the world's energy needs could be met. To achieve this, the efficiency of solar cells has to be increased considerably. It is estimated that the Sun
provides about 120 quadrillion watts of energy daily, while worldwide consumption is about 13.5 trillion watts per year.
In the next paragraph I will present the proposed of solar panels for a small business in Dominican Republic (Karina supermarket), which spends about
2160 kwh every month (0, 35 usd/kwh) $ 756 us monthly.
For this project we are going to use solar panel that contains 4 cells, and each of them can produce 0.45 volts and 100 milliamps, or 45 milliwatts.
Each cell measures 2 inches by 0.5 inches. In other words, with these solar cells you can generate 45 milliwatts in one square inch (6.45 square cm). For
the sake of discussion, let's assume that a panel can generate 70 milliwatts per square inch.

senior development engineer with UC Riverside, Junior Castillo, explained that the extreme heat transforms the mixture into different gasses like
carbon dioxide, methane, and carbon monoxide. In the later stages, these gasses are converted into substitutes for natural gasses. The goal is to
eventually use the gas product to heat the reactor to increase efficiency. Although this process is still under development, they plan to have a
functioning plant running within the next five

Pros And Cons Of Green Energy

  • 1. Pros And Cons Of Green Energy Solar energy is energy harnessed from the sun's rays and turned into power. This is considered green energy because green energy is a natural source used for energy. Solar power works by special energy cells converting sunlight into a direct current to power houses. Basically the particles of sunlight hits a solar panel. The solar panel then turns this into a direct current which is then used to power electronic things. Solar energy is used very often and has been a growing economy for years. A lot of Americans are now switching and jobs are going up. The future of solar energy is looking good, new advancements are coming out, people are switching and the field overall is improving. Some new advancements for the future are stronger power. Thats right multi terawatt power in panels is one improvement engineers are working on for the future. The panels will be cheaper and that means more affordable. More affordable means people save money and get more power! So more will want to flock to this field and that's a major economy win. Not only will it be cheaper with more power they are also predicted to be easier to produce to keep up with the crowds and having more products for the crowds is just what it needs. The pros of solar energy is that it's renewable, it has a lot of potential for the growing market. Solar energy doesn't cause pollution and it can be contained so we don't have too, too much. It's available all over the world too! Even though this pro is more of an upside to people in general is that it's silent unlike most electric methods. Some cons of this energy is that it can be pricey sometimes, however they are working on it. Another con is that it collects from the sun so it could be a problem when it's cloudy but it does save so you won't be powerless. Space is also a concern because typically these large panels take up your roof but what if your roof isn't applicable it has to be on the ground or elsewhere. To show solar to another green energy here is a compare and contrast of wind and solar.Wind power is more popular than solar in the USA and that is a fact, but wind powers turbines take up way more space than solar panels. If the area you are in is not windy the wind power Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Today's society encourages us to change our lifestyles and become more environmentally friendly. There are numerous theories and facts about global warming and one of those is to increase the use of renewable energy sources. There is unprecedented interest in renewable energy, especially solar and wind energy. Renewable energy sources provide electricity without giving rise to carbon dioxide emission (World Nuclear Association). It is impossible to convert to these sources completely, however there are things that we can do as individuals and as communities to be more environmentally friendly . As humans advance in technology, the amount of fossil fuels burned is increased at a rapid rate. This is an issue because with this increasing...show more content... It is projected that at the rate Americans are using hydro for energy that the "hydropower industry has the potential to create 1.4 million cumulative jobs by 2025" which would help since the unemployment percentage has been rising slowly (National Hydropower Association). Hydropower has also been a big contributor when it comes to making earth a healthier place to live on. Since the earth is composed of mostly water, hydropower is a very easy energy to obtain and water will always be there. It has become a vital source of energy in United States and is "account[ed] for 65.9 percent of all renewable energy generation in the United States" and is steadily rising (National Hydropower Association). Along with being the largest source of renewable energy, hydropower is very affordable and "since hydro taps the self–renewing power of our waterways, electricity from hydro is not subject to unpredictable price swings in the markets for energy commodities" which makes it very reliable (National Hydropower Association). It is important for a source of energy to be affordable and available because it will allow for that source to be used for an extended period of time. Hydropower is slowly becoming the top energy resource for humans and with that comes a cleaner and safer planet for humans to live on. Hydropower can only be used in certain areas of the land. It requires large storage Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay about Renewable and Clean Energy As these days global warming, pollutions and fuel shortages are getting more and more serious through time, renewable and clean energy is increasingly the ideal solution to energy related problems we have to solve one way or another. Biofuel is currently one of the mainstream and highly supported solutions, an idea to make renewable fuel by living organisms such as fiber, corn, vegetable oil or sugarcane. Biofuels, unlike nonrenewable fossil fuels over extracted by people, contains the potential to tackle most of the problems people encounter when using fossil fuels. This makes renewable fuels making it a cleaner source of energy, and a better option than fossil fuels that will ran out shortly sooner or later. The two main categories in...show more content... The second part of the essay will discuss some of the weaknesses in applying the fuel into practical usage. For example, corn ethanol is currently encountering technical limitations serving it as a standalone fuel, meaning that corn ethanol can only function by combining it with a certain amount of gasoline, while gasoline is a kind of fossil fuel. Finally, this essay will conduct a comparison with other renewable resources in the world, including solar power, other biofuels, and hydrogen fuel. The most noticeable advantage of corn fuel as an enhancement of fossil fuels is also the biggest advantage of ethanol energy a renewable fuel. Gasoline as a fuel is extracted from petroleum, and what makes petroleum an unreliable source of energy is that petroleum is nonrenewable, meaning it would run out some day in the future. Contrary, corn ethanol is a renewable source of energy, meaning if corns are replanted and remade into fuel, corn ethanol can be a long–term, sustainable energy source (gracelinks.org). Corn ethanol has the potential to produce a perfect solution of the energy crisis that will happen sooner or later, as experts predicted petroleum will run out in around fifty years (Gupta,p15). Another main benefit of corn fuel as the future fuel is that the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Financing Green Energy Investment in Green Energy Production Case Study–Indonesia Introduction The term Green energy refers to energy sources which have less injurious impacts on the environment in comparison with the traditional sources of fuel such petroleum, coal, natural gas etc. The use of green energy is intended to produce power without causing much harm to the natural habitat and also in a rather pollution free manner. Indonesia has been taking measures and been involved in policy reforms meant for facilitating the use of green energy. Various projects have been initiated in this regard. In the case of Green energy, the typical forces of demand and supply are activated and this industry is becoming excessively lucrative from investment point of view. Investment in Green Energy in Indonesia In order to select a potential project which is worthy of investment, the overall dynamics of green energy in Indonesia have to be considered. As per the current statistics available. Indonesia has managed to cross the benchmark of USD 1 Billion in Green energy investment and has observed 520 percent growth in investment in 2011. As policy measures, Indonesia has various policies in place such as Energy Law(LawNo.30/2007), Geothermal Law(LawNo.27/2003), Geothermal Business (GovernmentRegulationNo.59/2007), Green Energy Policy (MinisterialDecree:No.0002/2004) which would encourage the use of green energy in Public as well as private sector. The aim is to increase the share of renewable energy Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Green Energy and the Carbon Footprint 1.What is "green energy?" According to Cambridge Dictionaries Online, green energy is "energy that can be produced in a way that protects the natural environment, for example by using wind, water, or the sun". Solar energy is the conversion of the rays from the sun into a useful form of energy, such as heat or electricity. Solar energy when converted to thermal/heat energy can be used to both heat water and heat spaces in buildings and homes. Wind energy is another example of green energy.Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a form of energy by means of wind turbines and windmills. Hydroelectricity refers to using hydro power, the power that comes from the energy of either falling or running water, to produce electricity. This is the most widely used form of green or renewable energy. Another example, geothermal energy, is a form of thermal energy that is generated in the earth. Hot springs are an example geothermal energy that has been used for bathing, space heating, and the generation of electricity. Ocean thermal energy uses the temperature difference between the warmer surface ocean water and cooler deep water to produce electricity. 2.What is "carbon footprint?" According to Wikipedia, a carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide that a person emits during their day to day activities. It measures the quantity of resources you use and how your actions contribute to the greenhouse gas emissions. These emissions are what Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. The nuclear energy debate has persisted for decades. Those who strongly oppose it argue that its benefits, such as carbon–free emissions and low fuel costs, are almost irrelevant when the risk posed by radioactive waste and reactor meltdowns are factored in. The problem revolves around how little waste storage is prioritized in the planning stages of a reactor, including the locations of waste storage, leading to a surplus of radioactive waste at reactor sites. With the progress being made to advance waste disposal methods and increase public participation in countries that need storage for accumulating waste and developing countries considering nuclear energy, nuclear energy could be the new "green" energy alternative. For...show more content... Once such an institution, whether it is overseen by the government or privately owned, is established countries can turn their attention to conceptualizing strategies to garner public cooperation, change environmentalists negative opinions, and overcome political opposition, which seems to be the death of many of these projects. If developing countries are more inclined to utilize nuclear energy with a clear and safe method of disposal established, they, along with nuclear states, will be more open to the idea of a multinational repository site. A multinational site would mean a reduced amount of spent fuel and radioactive waste at already overburdened nuclear reactors that would be waiting decades for a geological repository to be built (McCombie). Careful planning and support from volunteer communities have helped repository sites like the one in Osthammar, Sweden avoid the fate of the United State's Yucca Mountain Project. The United States is an established nuclear state with many reactors providing a stable and steady amount of energy to major cities, but with no place to take the waste produced by all of these reactors. That's where Yucca Mountain came in. It presented an ideal alternative to the current methods of waste storage, such as the dry cask design presently used by the United States, because it takes the spent nuclear fuel out of the reactors Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Persuasive Essay On Clean Energy Clean Energy; A Huge Wasted Opportunity Global warming and what to do about it has been a very debated issue for a very long time. While we stand around and debate on whether humans have caused it the earth continues to get hotter. The fact of the matter is we have to at least try to do something. If we stand around and debate all our lives nothing will ever get done and there's not even a possibility of things getting better. At least if we do something there's a chance we can make a change. Science has proven that a lot of the by–products of our machines and everyday life are gasses with the ability to hold heat. Therefore, I propose we cut down on the emissions we produce in the United States by using more clean energy sources. Understanding Global Warming To be able to understand why my proposal will work one must first understand what global warming is and how it works. Global warming is quite simple and very complex all at the same time. Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like, the earth is getting hotter. However, the reason it is getting hotter is very fascinating. Imagine the earth like a car and life on earth as the husband sitting in the car waiting for his wife to exit the grocery store. It's a beautiful day and she said she would be right back so he doesn't mind waiting. He gets impatient after a while of waiting but is thankful that his wife put the windows down before she left. Now imagine our emissions as the windows being rolled up. As he waits the sun Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Green Energy is a Substitute Energy Source Introduction "Green" (or alternative) energy is a substitute energy source for fossil fuels. Alternative energy is interchangeable with Renewable energy since the sources that are generated are natural and cannot be exhausted, all of which have minimal environmental impact. Alternative energy sources include solar power, which is acquired from the sun; wind power; water energy, which produces hydroelectricity; and biomass energy, which comes from plants. Due to these sources being free and causing no harm to the environment, they are increasingly being used around the world. The energy sector has been growing, as governments are adapting environmental policies to reduce pollution and welcoming alternative energy sources. Alternative energy has many economic, environmental and social benefits. Economically, alternative energy satisfies the continuous and ever–growing demand and cost of energy. As the world populates and new discoveries are made on a daily basis, energy sources are not only being exhausted, they are also harming the environment, and thus people. Due to the high demand for energy and not so high supply, prices are rising day by day. Alternative energies are the solution to this problem, as their cost ranges from nothing to low. Environmentally, switching from fuels to alternative energy saves our world from impacts such as pollution, global warming and deforestation. Socially, our growing dependence on petroleum from around the world can be risky, as supply Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Green Energy Technology Student name Institution 9/10/2015 Green Energy Technology Introduction Green technology refers to the use and application of environmental science as well as technology in the creation of products, systems and equipment with the aim of conserving the environment and the natural resoruces in general. Researchers indicate that the use of green technology is gaining increasing popularity across the globe. In the USA for instance, an estimated 57% of the companies use this technology as well as practices to enhance the efficiency of energy (Feng & Hewage, 2014). An additional 50% of the organizations use the practice for the reduction of waste materials in their production processes (Mulvaney, 2011). Electric...show more content... The first disadvantage is the cot as some of the materials used in the technology have higher costs that the traditional construction materials (Feng & Hewage, 2014). For instance, if a designer constructs s a building with insulated panels, the costs will be more than the regular stick that is built at home. However in the long run, the practice has significant costs savings in terms of reduced energy costs. • 10. The Power Of Green Power Essay Green Power Energy is everywhere it 's in your phone to your community's hospital. Many years ago humans lived with no energy supply, now in 2016 it 's essential. As energy was discovered and objects which consumed such energy the demand increased, as a result so did the search for sources to obtain such power, people relied on coal, nuclear power, etc. all which contaminated the planet. However, there are also alternative energy power produced by renewable resources such as, solar with solar panels, river currents hydro power, or even wind with wind turbines. Wind turbines are seen along the road, but what are they? Why should people keep pursuing this energy source? Wind turbines work to produce energy, and are also essential, not only for people but for the planet. What is a wind turbine? A wind turbine, is the process in which a turbine takes wind and produces clean energy(electricity) free from harmful gasses, to power this turbine wind is needed but how is wind obtained? What is wind? "Wind is a form of solar energy and is a result of the uneven heating of the atmosphere by the sun, the irregularities of the earth 's surface, and the rotation of the earth"(How Do Wind Turbines Work?). In other words wind is a renewable source such as solar energy. It 's produced when warm air rises to the atmosphere and later on is cooled down making it sink down, as warm air goes up cool air takes its place causing what we know as wind. Therefore the way a wind turbine will perform Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Green Energy Essay With an abundance of government–funded tax breaks and subsidies available to encourage buildings to go green, it is no wonder why so many companies are interested in converting their real estate into energy efficient areas. The ability to win a multi–million dollar tax break is quite a motivator, but just how much are these companies really doing to turn their properties green? It turns out that many will do the bare minimum to win over this green certification, and most end up using just as much energy as they previously did. This is why a recertification effort needs to be done conducted to ensure that green buildings are truly energy efficient and are not just products of managers looking to save a few dollars. Such a project can be...show more content... This means that they can do very little to do so by only taking the smallest steps needed to get 40 total points. They can do this by creating pleasant and healthy office spaces, using common building materials, providing parking for fuel–efficient vehicles, implementing bike racks and showers, and posting educational displays (Schnaars and Morgan). None of these actions actually reduce emissions or make a building greener, but if a company completes enough of them, they can win over subsidies regardless of how little effort they have put in. It is not just LEED that has been promoting this mindset of only carrying out a bare minimum effort. Organizations in existence such as the U.S. Green Building Council were created to help guide companies to achieve green certification through the cheapest means possible. It has advised universities to achieve green points by offering courses on green building, told employers to give workers a video game room and fitness center, and instructed builders to create fire–alarm systems that minimize the stress on firefighters all with the intention to buy easy points (Schnaars and Morgan). Considering that a building only needs 40 of these points to be considered green, it seems much too easy for them to achieve green certification by doing things that barely make them green at all. One way to make companies and buildings step Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Research Paper On Green Energy Green Energy Green energy stands for the energy sources as well as technologies that give the maximum benefits to the environment that we live in. These are sources that produce electricity yet have an environmental profile that is graded higher than the conventional technologies for power production and does not emit any anthropogenic greenhouse gases. It is worth noting that some green energy sources however have some impact on the environment, albeit very insignificant impacts for instance the building of a dam for hydroelectric plant could dismally affect the immediate surrounding at the dam as well as fisheries down the river. The existing green energy sources are solar energy, wind energy (harvested using wind turbines), geothermal energy (harvesting energy trapped in the earth), biogas (natural gas beneath the earth surface) and biomass (energy from biological material) apart from the hitherto mentioned hydroelectric source (EPA, 2012). Carbon Footprint Carbon footprint is a representation of the effect that the human activities are passing on to the environment and the climate in particular. These activities are considered in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases emitted from the activities. Individual carbon footprint is the direct impact that the personal lifestyle has on the environment. More often than not the term is used to refer to the amount in tones that an activity or an organization emits into the environment (Global Footprint Network, 2012). • 13. Argumentative Essay On Renewable Energy Renewability For nearly everyone on earth, fossil fuels are a part of our daily lives. Some of the more obvious places to find petroleum products would be gas and diesel in cars and trucks, but it is in more than just your tank. Without fossil fuels, we would not have things such as plastic to make a wide variety of things such as tires, kayaks, or even computers. The question remains, do we need fossil fuels? In this day and age, we have new energy sources that could be used to power our homes and transportation. Wind and solar power are used all over the world, but are still used far less than fossil fuels. Most would say it's not reliable or it doesn't make any profit. While both statements are true, it doesn't mean we can't make a better future using renewable energy. In fact, the only reason we don't use renewables for everything is that we don't want to change. The hard truth is we need to change. Fossil fuels are great right now, but if we run out, humanity must have another source of energy. Renewable energy may seem like a daunting task, but the benefits to humanity could be incredible. Public uses of renewable energy range from transportation all the way to heating and cooling. Everything we use could become less explosive and less expensive. Cities with a high concentration of people could become safer and healthier places to live. Transportation could be converted to electricity dramatically, improving smog conditions. Global warming may or may not Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Pros and Cons of Green Living Essay Green living and renewable energy has been a hot topic in discussions for years. Politicians, environmentalists and companies have made their points on both sides of the argument and tried to force their beliefs onto the public. The masses have now heard how renewable energy helps reduce pollution and how expensive it would be to switch our lifestyle but I don't think many people know why we need this change or why it is not necessary. Green living has been shown to help reduce our carbon footprint and help the planet but others are saying that it is a waste of money and not necessary in order to survive. By far, the most popular argument in support of a more eco–friendly lifestyle is the fact that it reduces waste and ...show more content... Not only does it help the country, but green living helps us directly too. The pay–off we would see from the improvements to our lifestyle is a large one; cleaner air, cleaner water, and a cleaner planet are just some of the benefits that we could enjoy in our lifetime. Although it is not an immediate result, the change we make now will benefit the upcoming generations and make their world a better place to live. If people really sat down to think about it, this project is not a waste of money, it is a long term investment that will pay off and bring back even more profits. While I see it as an investment, the opposition is skeptical as to how much the change can benefit us. While the arguments for green living can be heard everywhere, the opposition also has their reasonable amount of beliefs that counter the debate. The most obvious of these ideas is that the results generated are not quick enough. The change in fuels for cars alone can take a handful of years and in the end, it won't be our generation that benefits from it. Instead of seeing the results, we are stuck in working for the future population's benefits. As for the revenue that would be created it will, like the statement before, take years to bring back the money "invested". Plenty of companies would fund green projects but when they see how long it takes to get profit, they steer away from it and frankly, who wouldn't. Why waste millions of dollars when Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. Earth's Natural Energy Sources Essay INTRODUCTION Renewable energy is energy produced from natural resources such as, wind, sunlight, rain, tides and geothermal heat which can be re–used or replenished. Natural energies (renewable energies) have its advantages and disadvantages. The reliance on fossil fuel is reduced by the sources of renewable energy. Though the use of natural sources has many advantages over the use of fossil fuels, the cost of investment for it can be too high for some people. In this project, I will be highlighting mainly on the sources of natural energy and its advantages and disadvantages. EXAMPLES OF NATURAL ENERGY SOURCES WIND It is said that anything that has movement has kinetic energy, in which case wind is definitely going to be considered as...show more content... Furthermore, wind turbines takes op less space than power stations. DISADVANTAGES OF WIND ENERGY If we need to produce large amount of electricity, we need to have loads of wind turbines. However, some people reckon wind turbines to be something that spoil the countryside. HYDROPOWER The word, 'hydropower' itself describes that it's something to deal with water. The utilizing of energy in water is known as hydropower (also sometimes called as hydraulic power). It is conceivable to collect the energy in moving water and convert it to useful power. The fact that water is 800 times denser than air enables to get a significant amount of energy harvest even from a slow flowing stream of water, or moderate sea swell. One of the oldest examples of the use hydropower is watermill. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF HYDROPOWER Firstly, this is a cheaper way of generating electricity as water used is free. No green house gas is being produced while the electricity is generated. However, the cost to build dams is high. Moreover, by building a dam, the nearby area has to be flooded and this could affect nearby wildlife and plants. SOLAR ENERGY Solar energy is the energy provided from the sun. Though the other forms of renewable energy, such as, wind, hydropower or biomass is thought of as separate forms of energy, they can actually be drawn back to solar energy. Solar energy can also be referred as thermal energy as it provides heat. We can use solar

Hydroelectric power plants are a long–standing renewable source. The growing sources of energy production are solar and wind. Fossil fuels generate carbon dioxide and large amounts of residues, such as fly ash and bottom ash. Philosophically, most of the energy we are using came from the Sun. For example, coal, oil, oil shale, and tar sand were produced over millions of years from forest growth. If we could harness solar radiation, then most of the world's energy needs could be met. To achieve this, the efficiency of solar cells has to be increased considerably. It is estimated that the Sun provides about 120 quadrillion watts of energy daily, while worldwide consumption is about 13.5 trillion watts per year. In the next paragraph I will present the proposed of solar panels for a small business in Dominican Republic (Karina supermarket), which spends about 2160 kwh every month (0, 35 usd/kwh) $ 756 us monthly. For the sake of discussion, let's assume that a panel can generate 70 milliwatts per square inch.

Eventually we will get to a point where we will need to find different ways of efficiently producing energy at a low cost. Twenty to thirty years ago it was hard to imagine what sources of energy (other than obvious possibilities like solar panels and windmills) that could efficiently supply the world. The advancement of technology today is opening new doors in the energy field that are likely to change the way we think about energy. With so many different sources of energy that are prevalent around the world, the challenge is found in harvesting and securing the energy at its source, and doing so in an efficient...show more content... An article by Janet Zimmerman describes a process being developed by an engineering firm named UC Riverside. The new process "uses heat and pressure to turn human waste into clean energy," saving millions of dollars and reducing pollution in the process. This idea has the potential to change the energy industry since there will never be a shortage of human waste. The first step of the process "pumps a combination of municipal sewage, sawdust and water into a pressurized reactor that is heated to almost 1,400 degrees." (Zimmerman). A senior development engineer with UC Riverside, Junior Castillo, explained that the extreme heat transforms the mixture into different gasses like carbon dioxide, methane, and carbon monoxide. In the later stages, these gasses are converted into substitutes for natural gasses. The goal is to eventually use the gas product to heat the reactor to increase efficiency. Although this process is still under development, they plan to have a functioning plant running within the next five Get more content on HelpWriting.net
