Company X Problem Analysis Essay
Company X Problem Analysis Through extensive analysis from the customer satisfaction surveys, and research from the satisfaction task force,
Company X found three major problems areas. The company's programs reflect poor quality, the development times are taking longer than the
projected due dates and a small portion of employees are discrediting the company name and values. Each of these problems has contributed to the
main problem; the increasing rate at which Company X is losing customers and revenue.
Defining problem and goals Customers do not want to buy a product that is defective. Through thorough analysis, Company X has attributed the poor
quality of its programs as a reason why customers are dissatisfied and...show more content...
If employees cannot perform to their fullest potential then the company suffers a series of problems. Each problem is related to the other, slowly
causing a domino effect. After identifying the problem, Company X is ready to define the goals and objectives. First off, the company knows that it
needs to increase the amount of revenue and profit. To do this the company needs to grab back its customers and possibly gain new ones. Company X
knows that regaining customers means a change in company policy and building high quality programs. Upper management has decided the company
must implement a standardized list of procedures and processes in order to gain structure and organization. Company X must also improve the
quality of its programs by fixing bugs and glitches which will enhance the overall performance of each program. To deal with employee performance,
upper management wants the department managers to implement a training schedule. Training will increase professional knowledge, and will help
employees create better programs with less problems as well as handling customers in a professional matter. Lastly, Company X wants to provide a
counseling service for employees who may be having personal issues or problems. This will help alleviate stress or outside pressures that are hindering
performance.
Causes and forces of influence The causes of the company's problems come primarily

Running head: SITUATION ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM STATEMENT: GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS Situation Analysis and Problem Statement:
Global Communications University of Phoenix Situation Analysis and Problem Statement There are different ways to approach defining the problems
facing an organization; the focus needs to be on defining the problem correctly. Thus far in our teachings we have examined the foundations of
Problem Based Learning, the 9ā€“Step Problemā€“Solving Model and Situation Analysis and Problem Statement. Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia

Abstract:
As team decision making and problem solving is a broad topic, this paper researches on the given topics (I) advantages and disadvantages of team
decision making and problem solving; (II)Team leadership and building consensus; (III) Organizational support to team decisions; (IV) Ethical decision
making in a team; (V) Team decisions and conflict management.
Introduction:
Team decision making is one of the essential skills for any successful organization. Decision making is important for management and leadership for
smooth operation. Likewise, problem solving tactics should include a strong decision making process. In other words, decision making and problem
solving are related to each other and it requires skills, creativity,...show more content...
6.Improved Communication
According to Hsu, Shih, Chiang, and Liu (2011) projects often fails due to lack of coordination, insufficient knowledge exchange resulting from
ineffective communication among team members. As mentioned earlier, team members will always discuss the new ideas among all the members. In
this way they can express their point of views and find out the positive and negative effects of it. Team members communicate with each other on how
and why to choose the particular solution. In this way, team members can improve the communication by utilizing their knowledge and experience to
find an improved solution that can help attain the objective.
Disadvantages of Team Decision Making and Problem Solving
Though research has found out that team decision making is better than individual decision making, there are always some problems in handling a
team. The team manager or leader should carefully handle the team members to be an efficient team. In other words, when there are many people in a
team with different background, experience and knowledge, there are higher chances of conflict stemming from ego, disagreement, and clash in
thoughts. Some of the downsides of team decision making are pointed out as follows:
1.Competition
In this highly competitive business world, most of the individuals are concerned about building their career and future. They want to show and do their
best for their career

The School Voucher program was designed to give families a choice about where their children could go to school. The program offered a fixed
dollar amount each year to put toward a child's tuition. Their choices ranged from private or parochial schools, these are schools that many of these
children may not experience otherwise. Charter schools were also options because they are run much like private schools. The thought behind voucher
programs is that a sense of competition would be created. The hope is that a higher educational output and an improved level of education would be
provided. Proponents of the program believe that children from poor public school districts should have the same opportunity for quality education as

Although, the system would help some students they would not help them all, vouchers are offered in limited numbers. As each state works through
this political quagmire, the debate continues.
School vouchers are not the savior to public education that they set out to be, as long as the vouchers are not offered to everyone equally. Funding to
public education continues to be under siege so allocating funding toward a voucher program that everyone can not access may not be the best use of
these dollars. The assumption that a sense of competition may develop among schools for the best and the brightest may be true but what about
schools that can not compete. What happens to the children that will be left behind? Is the federal government prepared to improve public schools that
are suffering from lack of funds? "School voucher programs undermine two great American traditions: universal public education and the separation of
church and state" (Antiā€“Defamation League, 2005).
While researching the voucher system this writer found that there are several factors to take into consideration such as: is the use of funds for the
voucher program the best use of educational funds, what happens to the kids left behind in the public schools who do not get a voucher or can not
afford to take advantage of the option,

Ways Of Dealing The Problem Essay
1.Ways of dealing the problem: Problem Detection:
Inā€“order to resolve a problem, firstly it is very important to detect the problem. Problems can be detected by analyzing. Because analysis helps to find
an approach by which we can avoid the occurrence of the problem rather than solving the problem. Identify the causes which created the problem and
create reports and identify the sector of service which is needed to be improved.
Work more efficiently and Adapt multitasking:
By this scenario we can work on several issues at a stretch, by making a better use of the time.
Maintaining a Log of previous incidents:
Keeping track of the previous issues of problems will help for the future use so that it can be referred in the future if the same problem arises again.
Categorizing the Problems:
Categorization of the list of problems helps us to avoid confusions. For instance, if the problems raised in the service are more it will be a hectic task
to search all those tasks, so categorizing makes the work easier and can better be associated with the problem.
Prioritizing Problems:
Prioritization of the problems helps us to decide which problem needed to be addressed first. Prioritization should be done on the need and the urgency.
Diagnosing the problems:
Diagnosing the problem mainly helps us to find the root cause of the problem and helps us to know the immediate actions to be taken to resolve.
Closure of the problem:
Problem should be closed properly as it confirms that all the

1. Merchandising unknown products
Before launching the Walmart's production program, Sam Walton knew he is going to create a program for a company that will become the world's
biggest grocer. Sam knew that even though Walmart was known for general merchandise, it had no customer equity on fresh products. Due to this, he
decided to go forward only with popular and respected products. In brief, he adopted the tactics of borrowing the popular brands equity and offering it
to people.
TESCO, on the other hand, adopted another strategy. It is known that it's very difficult for an unknown brand (like TESCO'sFresh & Easy stores) to
gain a consumers base. In addition to this, TESCO made this task even more difficult: they decided...show more content...
If TESCO had understood it then the company would not have equipped the stores with selfā€“checkout service. It persuades American consumers to
shop like British. British shopping habits differ from the US shopping habits. American consumer prefers to buy more goods per visit but shop less
often than the British consumer. In addition, US consumers like to interact with vendors asking questions and sharing stories, this is a deeply rooted
practice. Therefore, it was a bad move to introduce selfā€“checkout technology in stores in the US because it did not match with its market characteristics

Health Problem Analysis Worksheet Essay
The competency, "Analyze determinants of health and disease using an ecological framework" was met through the exercise, "Health Problem Analysis
Worksheet" and through reading Chapter 2 in the book Public Health: What it is and How it Works.
The purpose of the "Health Problem Analysis Worksheet" was to pick a disease, I chose diabetes, and to determine the determinants, direct contributing
factors and the indirect contributing factors. Turnock (2011, p.73) defines determinants as a scientific factor that relates directly to the health problem
and is one of the primary risk factors of the health problem. When creating my health problem analysis worksheet I selected my two determinants for
diabetes to be: physical inactivity and dietary...show more content...
The three direct contributing factors that I identified for dietary consumption include: access to fresh produce, education on nutrition, and food choices.
Again, these three direct contributing factors have scientific evidence that they can lead to poor dietary consumption which can then lead to diabetes.
Lastly, Turnock (2011, p. 73) defines indirect contributing factors as the factors that affect the direct contributing factors. In my health problems
analysis worksheet for behavioral/habit I chose the indirect factors: perceived lack of time, screen time, and poor time management. Next, for work and
school environment, I determined the indirect contributing factors: sedentary job, long hours, and physical activity reduction in schools. Last, for
socioeconomic status, I chose the indirect contributing factors to be: unsafe communities and lack of sidewalks, lack of access to healthcare, and lack
of transportation. All of these indirect contributing factors affect the direct contributing factors which then affects the determinate, physical activity.
The first indirect factors that I determined for dietary consumption was for access to fresh produce includes: energy dense foods are more affordable,
convenient stores have less healthy and fresh foods and lack of farmers markets. Next, for education on nutrition I chose the indirect contributing
factors:

Problem solving is a universal process that allows us to make decisions on everything from what to eat and what to wear. These steps contain the
necessary knowledge that has been constructed through previous life experiences. Without sufficient experience the supports designed to strengthen
our choices are weakened ending in the ultimate failure of the problem. There are many different strategies that good problem solvers use to solve a
problem. The steps of the problem solving process are systematic and organized. First, take your time and identify the problem very carefully. Do the
research, and become informed about your subject. Few good problem solvers solve problems fast. Life choices need to be supported with well

It is without doubt that humans will encounter problems that limit access to a preferred want or need at sometime during their lives and this was no
different in my own life. Researchers D'Zurilla and Goldfried (1971) define a problem as "any life situation or task that demands a response for
adaptive or effective functioning" (415). My life situation in question became deciding between attending school leading to future desired payoffs or
working a menial fullā€“time job that would not. The first step in the problem solving process, allowed me to identify the problem. A situation can be
perceived or thought of as problematic when an individual encounters situations disturbs them or they find that it keeps them from a goal (Bingham,
1999). The problem surfacing in affording an education and paying for everyday necessities became the central focus at that point in my life and
defined the problem that needed an immediate response. The problem solving process can best be defined as the best way to overcome obstacles in
situations and the steps used to help overcome them (Peterson et al., 2002). The second step, sort out information that is not needed provided clarity
during times in which the process seemed overwhelming. This called for a potential solution, a desired outcome and how to get there. The research that
had initially been part of the formulating method had sparked an interest in the military. This idea was supported by the benefits that outweighed

In our everyday life decision making and problem solving are crucial skills. Usually any kind of problem solving involves decision making, and
decision making is significant for any aspect of life. There are techniques and procedures to polish and enhance decision making and the quality of the
outcome of the decision. To certain people decision making is more natural, but not to other personalities, so people who have needs of improvement in
their decision making they should emphasize more on refining the quality of their decisions. Some personalities who are less natural decisionā€“makers
are sometimes able to make smart assessments, but at that point they have to be more conclusive in acting upon the valuations made. Problem
solving and decision making are strictly connected, and each involves creativity in distinguishing and evolving choices, for that the brainstorming
method is most useful. When challenged with a problem, the key question comes to your mind, "what would I do?" You as well want to analyze and
scrutinize in what manner to resolve the problem and decide what sorts of steps needs to be taken to make sure that the issue is solved effectively.
This is where the course of problem solving actions starts. When people solve problems and make quick decisions while they are under pressure,
stressed and time is running out. Subsequently, when they bump into a different problem or a decision they need to make, often they respond with a
decision that appeared to work

I Am A Problem Solving Skills
Today in class I learned a lot about problem solving and how to have good problem solving skills. Having good problem solving skills is an
important skill every single person should have. We run into problems every day that we need to be able to figure out on our own. I wouldn't say I
am a bad problem solver, but I would definitely say that my problem solving skills could improve. In order to have good problem solving skills, you
need to have good critical thinking skills as well. Today in class, I learned the seven components that make up good critical thinking skills. Those seven
components are knowledge (recall information); comprehension (understand the significance of the information); application (make practical use of

Learning about problem solving is going to help me significantly if I correctly follow the four major steps. With that said, these four steps are
defining the problem; devise (gather and interpret information); implement a plan of action; and evaluate the plan for effectiveness. The step I
struggle with the most is evaluating the plan for effectiveness. I always know how I can solve the problem, but it isn't always the most effective
way to go about it, and then I am stuck. So, learning about how to solve a problem the most effective way is really going to help me out every day.
Currently, I am trying to solve all these problems that are going to affect my future, either negatively or positively. With that said, I also learned
seven strategies to problem solving. These seven strategies are going to help me tremendously right now and I can't wait to put them to work and,
hopefully, I will be less stressed with all of these decisions if I use these strategies correctly. The seven problem solving strategies I learned today
are keeping a positive attitude; ask questions; use creativity; pay attention to detail; see all sides of the issue; remember that persistence pays off; and
to use reasoning. If I keep all these strategies in mind, solving all the problems I have right now will not be as bad and they may even come easier.
Another important thing I learned in class today was common errors in judgment. There

Problem Solving By Ken Watanabe Essay
Introduction Problem Solving 101 by Ken Watanabe was originally written for Asian schoolchildren to teach necessary skills that help solve larger
problems. There was a problem that the Asian school system only taught how to memorize rather than adjusting to problems and situations that may
arise. The book was a hit in Japan, but it also took off in the business world because even the executives at top companies were looking for a simple
book that provided them a path to solve difficult problems. The book is written in simple terms, which makes it so easy to read for everyone who is
entering the world of business. The writer used to work at a major consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, where they used a practical approach that
helps them accomplish their business. That author uses four steps to analyze every problem: understanding the current situation, identifying the root
cause of the problem, developing an effective action plan, and executing until the problem is solved while still making modifications. These steps can
help break down the toughest problems and can be applied to almost any situation. The author also explains the mindset needed to solve problems, you
can't just approach the problem without having a game plan. Ken Watanabe explains some techniques he used at his former consulting office that
breaks down every problem: Logic tree, Yes/No Tree, Problem
ā€“solving Design Plan, Hypothesis pyramid, Pros and Cons list, and Evaluation. The two

Essay on The Psychology of Problem Solving
Where there is a problem there is a solution. No matter how complicated nor how elusive the solution is one is always there. Problems are the
basis of jobs and careers: restaurants for hunger, movies and video games for boredom, news for information etc. However, with basic problems
that have a set solution there are a variety of ways to solve it. Working backwards, although slightly different, is a widely used and very effective
way of solving problems. 1 (Referring to page "Problem I") Most people would look at this problem and would loathe solving it because it would
involve creating a long complicated algebraic problem. Using the method of working backwards even a child who hasn't learned algebra can solve the

2 Heuristics are rules of thumb that can help us to reach a solution to a problem, typically when facing complex problems or incomplete
information. These rules work well under most circumstances. They can also be considered shortcuts. However, heuristics can cause cognitive
biases. Having a cognitive bias can significantly affect the scientific method or ABCDE's of problem solving. For example, "if the problem is
"When do you eat food?", if you answer, "When I'm hungry" then you would have to eat immediately every single time you were hungry. Instead,
we follow heuristics to determine when to eat by gauging our hunger level, the situation we are in, and our ability to get food." The basis of
problem solving is called the ABCDE's. Assess the problem, Brainstorm approaches to the problem, Choose an approach that seems most likely to
work, Do it, try the most likely approach, Evaluate the results. To assess the problem means to dissect the problem and see what it's all about. In
order to sole the problem effectively one must assess what kind of problem it is. Brainstorming approaches is the action of spontaneous creation of
ideas that pertain and could solve the problem. The more ideas produced the more "cushion" you

For my introduction, I started by writing a thesis statement. My thesis statement stated the problem of class registration at Normandale, and then
introduced the four possible solutions; this gave the reader a brief summary of what to expect. To organize my body paragraphs, I wrote out my first

it in my conclusion. After organizing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, I was ready to write my first draft.
The purpose of my introduction was to interest the reader, and give them a brief background on the essay. The introductory paragraphs consisted of a

when researching. I then explained the importance of the quote, and followed with my thesis. Also, I used correct MLA format when citing the direct
quote in my paper. It's important to cite all sources correctly otherwise it will be penalized as plagiarism. Once my introduction was complete, I began

  • 1. Company X Problem Analysis Essay Company X Problem Analysis Through extensive analysis from the customer satisfaction surveys, and research from the satisfaction task force, Company X found three major problems areas. The company's programs reflect poor quality, the development times are taking longer than the projected due dates and a small portion of employees are discrediting the company name and values. Each of these problems has contributed to the main problem; the increasing rate at which Company X is losing customers and revenue. After identifying the problem, Company X is ready to define the goals and objectives. First off, the company knows that it needs to increase the amount of revenue and profit. To do this the company needs to grab back its customers and possibly gain new ones. Company X knows that regaining customers means a change in company policy and building high quality programs. Company X must also improve the quality of its programs by fixing bugs and glitches which will enhance the overall performance of each program. To deal with employee performance, upper management wants the department managers to implement a training schedule. Training will increase professional knowledge, and will help employees create better programs with less problems as well as handling customers in a professional matter. Lastly, Company X wants to provide a counseling service for employees who may be having personal issues or problems. This will help alleviate stress or outside pressures that are hindering performance. Introduction: Team decision making is one of the essential skills for any successful organization. Decision making is important for management and leadership for smooth operation. As mentioned earlier, team members will always discuss the new ideas among all the members. In this way they can express their point of views and find out the positive and negative effects of it. Team members communicate with each other on how and why to choose the particular solution. In this way, team members can improve the communication by utilizing their knowledge and experience to find an improved solution that can help attain the objective. Disadvantages of Team Decision Making and Problem Solving Though research has found out that team decision making is better than individual decision making, there are always some problems in handling a team. The team manager or leader should carefully handle the team members to be an efficient team. In other words, when there are many people in a team with different background, experience and knowledge, there are higher chances of conflict stemming from ego, disagreement, and clash in thoughts. Some of the downsides of team decision making are pointed out as follows: 1.Competition In this highly competitive business world, most of the individuals are concerned about building their career and future. They want to show and do their best for their career Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. The School Voucher program was designed to give families a choice about where their children could go to school. The program offered a fixed dollar amount each year to put toward a child's tuition. Their choices ranged from private or parochial schools, these are schools that many of these children may not experience otherwise. Charter schools were also options because they are run much like private schools. The thought behind voucher programs is that a sense of competition would be created. The hope is that a higher educational output and an improved level of education would be provided. Proponents of the program believe that children from poor public school districts should have the same opportunity for quality education as kids in...show more content... Although, the system would help some students they would not help them all, vouchers are offered in limited numbers. As each state works through this political quagmire, the debate continues. School vouchers are not the savior to public education that they set out to be, as long as the vouchers are not offered to everyone equally. Funding to public education continues to be under siege so allocating funding toward a voucher program that everyone can not access may not be the best use of these dollars. The assumption that a sense of competition may develop among schools for the best and the brightest may be true but what about schools that can not compete. What happens to the children that will be left behind? Is the federal government prepared to improve public schools that are suffering from lack of funds? "School voucher programs undermine two great American traditions: universal public education and the separation of church and state" (Antiā€“Defamation League, 2005). While researching the voucher system this writer found that there are several factors to take into consideration such as: is the use of funds for the voucher program the best use of educational funds, what happens to the kids left behind in the public schools who do not get a voucher or can not afford to take advantage of the option, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Ways Of Dealing The Problem Essay 1.Ways of dealing the problem: Problem Detection: Inā€“order to resolve a problem, firstly it is very important to detect the problem. Problems can be detected by analyzing. Because analysis helps to find an approach by which we can avoid the occurrence of the problem rather than solving the problem. Identify the causes which created the problem and create reports and identify the sector of service which is needed to be improved. Work more efficiently and Adapt multitasking: By this scenario we can work on several issues at a stretch, by making a better use of the time. Maintaining a Log of previous incidents: Keeping track of the previous issues of problems will help for the future use so that it can be referred in the future if the same problem arises again. Categorizing the Problems: Categorization of the list of problems helps us to avoid confusions. For instance, if the problems raised in the service are more it will be a hectic task to search all those tasks, so categorizing makes the work easier and can better be associated with the problem. Prioritizing Problems: Prioritization of the problems helps us to decide which problem needed to be addressed first. Prioritization should be done on the need and the urgency. Diagnosing the problems: Diagnosing the problem mainly helps us to find the root cause of the problem and helps us to know the immediate actions to be taken to resolve. Merchandising unknown products Before launching the Walmart's production program, Sam Walton knew he is going to create a program for a company that will become the world's biggest grocer. Sam knew that even though Walmart was known for general merchandise, it had no customer equity on fresh products. Due to this, he decided to go forward only with popular and respected products. In brief, he adopted the tactics of borrowing the popular brands equity and offering it to people. TESCO, on the other hand, adopted another strategy. Health Problem Analysis Worksheet Essay The competency, "Analyze determinants of health and disease using an ecological framework" was met through the exercise, "Health Problem Analysis Worksheet" and through reading Chapter 2 in the book Public Health: What it is and How it Works. The purpose of the "Health Problem Analysis Worksheet" was to pick a disease, I chose diabetes, and to determine the determinants, direct contributing factors and the indirect contributing factors. In my health problems analysis worksheet for behavioral/habit I chose the indirect factors: perceived lack of time, screen time, and poor time management. Next, for work and school environment, I determined the indirect contributing factors: sedentary job, long hours, and physical activity reduction in schools. Last, for socioeconomic status, I chose the indirect contributing factors to be: unsafe communities and lack of sidewalks, lack of access to healthcare, and lack of transportation. All of these indirect contributing factors affect the direct contributing factors which then affects the determinate, physical activity. The first indirect factors that I determined for dietary consumption was for access to fresh produce includes: energy dense foods are more affordable, convenient stores have less healthy and fresh foods and lack of farmers markets. Next, for education on nutrition I chose the indirect contributing factors: Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Problem solving is a universal process that allows us to make decisions on everything from what to eat and what to wear. These steps contain the necessary knowledge that has been constructed through previous life experiences. Without sufficient experience the supports designed to strengthen our choices are weakened ending in the ultimate failure of the problem. There are many different strategies that good problem solvers use to solve a problem. The steps of the problem solving process are systematic and organized. First, take your time and identify the problem very carefully. Do the research, and become informed about your subject. Few good problem solvers solve problems fast. It is without doubt that humans will encounter problems that limit access to a preferred want or need at sometime during their lives and this was no different in my own life. Researchers D'Zurilla and Goldfried (1971) define a problem as "any life situation or task that demands a response for adaptive or effective functioning" (415). My life situation in question became deciding between attending school leading to future desired payoffs or working a menial fullā€“time job that would not. The first step in the problem solving process, allowed me to identify the problem. A situation can be perceived or thought of as problematic when an individual encounters situations disturbs them or they find that it keeps them from a goal (Bingham, 1999). The problem surfacing in affording an education and paying for everyday necessities became the central focus at that point in my life and defined the problem that needed an immediate response. The problem solving process can best be defined as the best way to overcome obstacles in situations and the steps used to help overcome them (Peterson et al., 2002). The second step, sort out information that is not needed provided clarity during times in which the process seemed overwhelming. This called for a potential solution, a desired outcome and how to get there. The research that had initially been part of the formulating method had sparked an interest in the military. This idea was supported by the benefits that outweighed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. In our everyday life decision making and problem solving are crucial skills. Usually any kind of problem solving involves decision making, and decision making is significant for any aspect of life. There are techniques and procedures to polish and enhance decision making and the quality of the outcome of the decision. To certain people decision making is more natural, but not to other personalities, so people who have needs of improvement in their decision making they should emphasize more on refining the quality of their decisions. Some personalities who are less natural decisionā€“makers are sometimes able to make smart assessments, but at that point they have to be more conclusive in acting upon the valuations made. Problem solving and decision making are strictly connected, and each involves creativity in distinguishing and evolving choices, for that the brainstorming method is most useful. When challenged with a problem, the key question comes to your mind, "what would I do?" You as well want to analyze and scrutinize in what manner to resolve the problem and decide what sorts of steps needs to be taken to make sure that the issue is solved effectively. This is where the course of problem solving actions starts. When people solve problems and make quick decisions while they are under pressure, stressed and time is running out. Subsequently, when they bump into a different problem or a decision they need to make, often they respond with a decision that appeared to work Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Learning about problem solving is going to help me significantly if I correctly follow the four major steps. With that said, these four steps are defining the problem; devise (gather and interpret information); implement a plan of action; and evaluate the plan for effectiveness. The step I struggle with the most is evaluating the plan for effectiveness. I always know how I can solve the problem, but it isn't always the most effective way to go about it, and then I am stuck. So, learning about how to solve a problem the most effective way is really going to help me out every day. Currently, I am trying to solve all these problems that are going to affect my future, either negatively or positively. With that said, I also learned seven strategies to problem solving. These seven strategies are going to help me tremendously right now and I can't wait to put them to work and, hopefully, I will be less stressed with all of these decisions if I use these strategies correctly. The seven problem solving strategies I learned today are keeping a positive attitude; ask questions; use creativity; pay attention to detail; see all sides of the issue; remember that persistence pays off; and to use reasoning. If I keep all these strategies in mind, solving all the problems I have right now will not be as bad and they may even come easier. Another important thing I learned in class today was common errors in judgment. There Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Problem Solving By Ken Watanabe Essay Introduction Problem Solving 101 by Ken Watanabe was originally written for Asian schoolchildren to teach necessary skills that help solve larger problems. There was a problem that the Asian school system only taught how to memorize rather than adjusting to problems and situations that may arise. The book was a hit in Japan, but it also took off in the business world because even the executives at top companies were looking for a simple book that provided them a path to solve difficult problems. The book is written in simple terms, which makes it so easy to read for everyone who is entering the world of business. The writer used to work at a major consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, where they used a practical approach that helps them accomplish their business. That author uses four steps to analyze every problem: understanding the current situation, identifying the root cause of the problem, developing an effective action plan, and executing until the problem is solved while still making modifications. These steps can help break down the toughest problems and can be applied to almost any situation. The author also explains the mindset needed to solve problems, you can't just approach the problem without having a game plan. Ken Watanabe explains some techniques he used at his former consulting office that breaks down every problem: Logic tree, Yes/No Tree, Problem ā€“solving Design Plan, Hypothesis pyramid, Pros and Cons list, and Evaluation. This paper deals with a scenario in which the ultimate goal is to provide a holistic approach to problemā€“solving and solution development. In particular, this paper will analyze the first three steps in problemā€“solving, which include; description of the situation with the emphasis on the issue and opportunity, defining the right problemā€“based on the situation, and explain the desired future endā€“state goals. Mary Monroe, Vice President of New Product Development and Jim Wilson, the Vice President of Marketing Development presented their products to the executive staff. The executive staff supported both Mary's Instant Rewards and Brian's Small Business Cards indicating these products would show growth to both sides of the company. Ultimately, Brian Allen, President of New Product Development chose to present Instant Rewards to the Board of Directors. Although the new product development team has ideas that are strong they were not sufficient enough for the Board to give them seal of approval. Issue Identification The focus groups and surveys of both products show they can expand its market share, yet each department is faced with a challenge of proving to the Board the results are adequate. With the newest member to the Board of Directors, Bea Henson, has challenged Brian to reā€“strategize his research and approach. Bea pointed out to Brian that the huge sample size may be distorting the results. "Without reliable statistics, we don't know the full scope of the problems and cannot adequately measure the results we actually achieve," said Shaida Badiee, Director of the World Bank's Development Data Group, who chaired the panel discussion (The World Bank, 2006). With limited time and capital, USB faces a challenge of successfully launching a new product. The team players are not fully aligned in their goals. • 17. Essay on The Psychology of Problem Solving Where there is a problem there is a solution. No matter how complicated nor how elusive the solution is one is always there. Problems are the basis of jobs and careers: restaurants for hunger, movies and video games for boredom, news for information etc. However, with basic problems that have a set solution there are a variety of ways to solve it. Working backwards, although slightly different, is a widely used and very effective way of solving problems. 1 (Referring to page "Problem I") Most people would look at this problem and would loathe solving it because it would involve creating a long complicated algebraic problem. Using the method of working backwards even a child who hasn't learned algebra can solve the same problem and...show more content... 2 Heuristics are rules of thumb that can help us to reach a solution to a problem, typically when facing complex problems or incomplete information. These rules work well under most circumstances. They can also be considered shortcuts. However, heuristics can cause cognitive biases. Having a cognitive bias can significantly affect the scientific method or ABCDE's of problem solving. For example, "if the problem is "When do you eat food?", if you answer, "When I'm hungry" then you would have to eat immediately every single time you were hungry. Instead, we follow heuristics to determine when to eat by gauging our hunger level, the situation we are in, and our ability to get food." The basis of problem solving is called the ABCDE's. Assess the problem, Brainstorm approaches to the problem, Choose an approach that seems most likely to work, Do it, try the most likely approach, Evaluate the results. To assess the problem means to dissect the problem and see what it's all about. In order to sole the problem effectively one must assess what kind of problem it is. Brainstorming approaches is the action of spontaneous creation of ideas that pertain and could solve the problem. The more ideas produced the more "cushion" you Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. In composition, problemā€“solution is a method for analyzing and writing about a topic by identifying a problem and proposing possible solutions. The problem can affect a large group of people in a small way, or the problem can affect a small group of people in a large way. In a problem ā€“solution paper, the solutions should be new to the reader. To write myresearch problemā€“solution essay I followed three steps: researching, writing, and documenting. To start my research process I determined the problem, and then began researching for solutions. The problem I chose was registration at Normandale, and the common issue of classes filling up too fast. Once I had my problem, I started researching for background information on registration, and...show more content... For my introduction, I started by writing a thesis statement. My thesis statement stated the problem of class registration at Normandale, and then introduced the four possible solutions; this gave the reader a brief summary of what to expect. To organize my body paragraphs, I wrote out my first topic sentence to define the problem, and then followed with four topic sentences for my four solutions. Finally, I rewrote my thesis so I could restate it in my conclusion. After organizing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, I was ready to write my first draft. The purpose of my introduction was to interest the reader, and give them a brief background on the essay. The introductory paragraphs consisted of a hook, background information on the problem and why it is occurring, and then my thesis statement. My essay started with a direct quote I discovered when researching. I then explained the importance of the quote, and followed with my thesis. Also, I used correct MLA format when citing the direct quote in my paper. It's important to cite all sources correctly otherwise it will be penalized as plagiarism. Once my introduction was complete, I began writing the body paragraphs. The main purpose of my body paragraphs were to explain and support my thesis. For my body paragraph on the problem, I made sure to explain the problem of registration, give an example, and then state who the problem affected. I then started the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
