2. Importance of Vascular Plants
Used as Food
Many vascular plants are source of food e.g. wheat,
rice pulse etc.
Used as Vegetables
Many vegetables come from vascular plants e.g.
potato, reddish, carrot etc.
Used as Medicine
Many medicines obtained from vascular plants e.g.
amaltas, ajwain etc.
Vascular Plants
A plant that is characterized by the presence of
conducting tissue. The two types of vascular tissue,
xylem and phloem, are responsible for moving
water, minerals, and the products of photosynthesis
throughout the plant also known as tracheophytes.

3. Provide Shade & Shelter
Some Large tree provide shade & shelters to living
organisms.
Provide Cooling Effects
They provide cooling effects by transpiration.
Used as Ornamental Purpose
Many plants used as ornamental purposes e.g. Rose,
jasmine etc.
Source of Fiber
Fibers of some plants are used in making clothes,
ropes, cotton etc.
Source of Timber
Timber is obtained from these plants e.g. Pinus,
deodar etc.
