1. Heroes
Training
The school is an institution known not just for its
job as the primary responsible of teaching the skills and
knowledge that the students will need in their chosen
profession in the future but also it is the one that aids
in the development of values and moral to its students as
it grow inside the school. Many activities that took place
inside the school have an objective in building students
who will become an agent of change in the community in
the future by equipping them with the values they need.
One of the activities conducted by the school was the
Heroes Camp which was held last January 18 to January
19, 2018 at Terra Verde Eco farm, Maragondon, Cavite.
During the day of camp, the students were informed to proceed at NCST gymnasium for
the assembly and brief introduction about the objectives of the said activity. Pastor Reagan
Bening was the chief facilitator during the camp. He also led the registration of the students as
well as the opening ceremony which includes the singing of the national anthem and the MHCS and
NASTECH hymn. It was followed by opening remarks from Pastor Reagan. One of the facilitators
distributed a piece of paper to the students wherein they wrote their expectations for the two
days camp. After the opening, the students were led to the bus as they start their journey to
Maragondon, Cavite.
2. For the first itinerary, the students precede to
Museo ng Paglilitisni Andres Bonifacio (Bonifacio Trial
House) which is located at Maragondon, Cavite. At the
first part of the museum, a video presentation was
shown for the students to be provided with a short
background on Andres Bonifacio and the Katipunan. The
next part of the tour focuses on the conflict between
the two Katipunan factions in Cavite, the Magdalo and
Magdiwang. There is also a part of the museum which
re-enacts the Bonifacio brothers’ court martial through
sound and light presentation. The museum reminded the
students about the heroism of Andres Bonifacio and his
contribution to achieve freedom from the Spaniards. The
life lesson and morale from the story of Bonifacio is also
one of the main goals of this camping.
Once the students arrived at the location of
the camping, Terra Verde Ecofarm, they were given
time to rest and have their lunch before proceeding
to today’s activity.
The program started with an opening program
by Pastor Reagan. One of the workers from the
farm also explained the farm rules that should be
followed during their stay. Then, Pastor Reagan
explained to the students the main goal of this
camping which is to make each student a leader and
a living hero.
3. After the introduction, all the students
move to the activity area and were asked to
form one big circle. The facilitator asked the
students to divide the group into four with equal
number of members. They were also asked to
choose their leader. Each of the students
expected that it would be their permanent group
but surprise, it is not. Each student must place
one piece of their shoes at the center of the
circle then the leader will be blindfolded and
he/she will choose 19 shoes randomly. The owner
of the shoes that the leader got will be their
member during the camp. The students are
randomly distributed to each leader which makes
the camp interesting because they must work
together even though they are not close to
achieve their one goal. It will test the
cooperation of each members of the group.
4. As the group was finalized, Pastor Reagan
and the facilitators gave the first tasks to each
group which was to create the name of their
group, design a flag, and prepare a cheer. Each
group was also given a teacher to serve as their
life coach. During the activity, it is evident that
some of the group members were still awkward
with each other but as they do their task,
slowly they became accustomed to each other.
The next task given was an obstacle race
wherein each group must pass four different
stations to complete the task.
STATION 1 STATION 2
STATION 3
STATION 4
5. After finishing their dinner, the grade 10 students were given alone time around a bonfire to
bond and take about the relationship and memories they spent for almost half a year together. It
was also the time wherein they can really enjoy each other’s company before they go to their
separate ways. The bonfire was filled with laughter as each student and even their adviser
answered questions prepared by Shara.
The activity for this morning will happen at a
river located along the training area. Each group
proceed to the activity area but the twist was, each of
members will be blindfolded and the only the leader,
assistant leader and life coach will guide the members
as they walk. At first, it was a difficult task for each
group due to physical setting of the trail. It is rocky
and it has many surrounding plants. Eventually, the
group learned to work together to move along the trail
until they reached their destination. They did numerous
task there which testes their cooperation and skills as a
team. After the activity was done, the students were
given ample amount of time to enjoy the setting before
heading back to the quarters to prepare to go home.
