COMING UP
The Lady Buffs hit the road for their final non-
conference matchup of the season on Tuesday night
as they take on the Lady Chaps of Lubbock Christian
in a South Central Regional matchup with first serve
set for 7 p.m. at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock.

LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN
Jennifer Lawrence enters her 14th season serving
at the helm of the Lady Chap volleyball program.
During the 2016 season, Lawrence recorded her
300th win at LCU and stands as the winningest
coach in program history. Under Lawrence’s
guidance, the Lady Chaps have amassed an overall
record of 305-129 (.702) and made two trips to the
NAIA National Championship.
LCU enters the week with an overall record of 8-13
with a 5-3 mark in Heartland Conference action
to sit in third place in the league standings. The
Lady Chaps have won their last two matches as
they topped Newman and Arkansas-Fort Smith last
weekend in Lubbock.
The Lady Chaps are led offensively by Lauren Zoller
with 211 kills (2.74/set) on 728 swings with 100 attack
errors to hit .152 on the season. The LCU offense is
paced by Brynn Warnack with 397 assists (7.09/set)
while Kelsie French leads the way defensively with
479 digs (6.06/set).
LCU has registered 897 kills (11.4/set) on 3,026
attempts with 484 attack errors to hit .136 as a team
so far this season. They average 10.7 assists and 1.0
service aces per set while tallying 1,395 digs (17.7/set)
and 130.0 total blocks (1.6/set) on the season.
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series with the Lady
Chaps, 24-5-1 in a series dating back to the 1980
season. WT is 8-1 all-time in Lubbock.
LAST MEETING WITH LCU
West Texas A&M 3, Lubbock Christian 1 (10/11/16)
West Texas A&M ended the fourth set on a 8-3 run to
highlight a South Central Region win over the visiting
Lady Chaps of Lubbock Christian (26-24, 14-15, 28-
26, 25-18) in front of over 500 fans at the WTAMU
Fieldhouse “The Box” in Canyon.
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Michaela
Montgomery with 13 kills on 27 swings with just two
attack errors to hit .333 on the night followed by Elisa
Bentsen (12), Taylor Kress (12) and Cori Haley (10) with
double-digit kills.
Selena Batiste continued to impress as the freshman
guided the WT offense with a match high 48 assists
while Haley led the Lady Buffs with 20 digs for
a double-double followed by freshman Rachel
Rhoades with 19.
WT registered 56 kills on 158 swings with 24 attack
errors to hit .203 as a team with 55 assists, 74 digs
and 10.5 total blocks.
Lubbock Christian was led by Lauren Zoller with a
match high 14 kills on 45 swings with four attack
errors to hit .222 on the night followed by Emily
Hanaway with 12 kills and Christiana Tavo with 10,
Mallory Powell dished out a team high 41 assists
while Kelsie French led all players with 27 digs.
The Lady Chaps tallied 53 kills on 162 swings with 22
errors to hit .191 on the night with 49 assists, 66 digs
and 7.0 total blocks.
LAST TIME OUT
Freshman Erin Clark registered 21 kills and 17 digs
as the Lady Buffs topped Cameron in four sets on
Saturday afternoon during Lone Star Conference
action at Aggie Gym in Lawton, Oklahoma.
The Lady Buffs hit .182 as a team with 61 kills on 192
swings with 26 attack errors to go along with 61
assists, two service aces, 87 digs and 10.0 blocks in
the win.
Cameron registered 47 kills on 176 attempts with
29 attack errors to hit .102 on the afternoon with 46
assists, two service aces, 88 digs and 12 total blocks.
Clark registered 21 kills on 64 swings with eight
attack errors to hit .203 on the afternoon to go along
with 17 digs for a double-double. Selena Batiste (29
assists, 14 digs) and Gabby Emery (27 assists, 10 digs)
registered double-doubles while Chandler Vogel led
the Lady Buffs with 23 digs.

HOME DOMINANCE
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the
best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball,
in any division. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more
affectionately known as “The Box,” is home to
19 Lone Star Conference Championships, 13 Re-
gional Titles and three NCAA Division II National
Championships. “The Box” boats one of the best
home winning records in the NCAA on any level
of competition. The Lady Buffs are 464-74 at The
Box since the 1980 season for an incredible win-
ning percentage of 86.2%.
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach Jason Skoch, a four-time LSC
Coach of the Year, is now in his ninth season at
the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall
career record of 385-91 (.809, 12th year) including
a 249-71 (.778) mark in Canyon. Skoch has led the
Lady Buffs to seven appearances in the NCAA
Postseason with three South Central Regional
Titles and a National Runner-Up finish in 2009.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
The Lady Buffs have played in 86 sets during
25 matches so far during the 2017 season. True
freshman Chandler Vogel has started 24 of those
matches at libero while four other freshman have
made appearances in the starting lineup so far this
season for the Lady Buffs.
THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
Entering last week, LSC teams were 108-108
overall this season. The squads are currently 15-17
combined versus RMAC teams, and 12-6 against the
Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues
in the NCAA South Central Region.
AVCA DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (OCT. 23)
Southwest Minnesota State picked up 30 of the
possible 48 first place votes in this week’s AVCA
Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Monday
afternoon by the association’s offices.
The Mustangs sit atop of the poll with 1,170 points
followed by Concordia-St. Paul (2 first place, 1,115),
Palm Beach Atlantic (8 first place, 1,102), Minnesota
Duluth (1 first place, 1,041), Cal Baptist (5 first place,
1,017), Lewis (2 first place, 993), Nebraska-Kearney
(916), Western Washington (829), Northern State
(790) and Northwest Nazarene (712) to round out the
top ten. The South Central Region was represented

87CONSECUTIVE LSC VICTORIES - The Lady Buffs
own the NCAA Division II record for consecutive wins against
conference opponents, WT claimed 87 straight wins against the
Lone Star Conference between September 8, 2006 and September 13, 2011.
During that five-year span, the Lady Buffs claimed five Lone Star Conference
Championships and made three appearances in the NCAA Elite Eight with a
National Runner-Up finish in 2009.
26ALL-AMERICANS - The Lady Buffs have produced an im-
pressive number of 26 All-Americans in program history including
a pair of DII National Players of the Year: Cristina Pereira (1991)
and Sarah Butler-Carthel (1997,1999).
19LSC CHAMPIONSHIPS - To say that the Lady Buffs
have dominated the Lone Star Conference over the past three
decades would be an understatement. The Lady Buffs own a
278-48 overall record in the LSC, winning an staggering 86 percent of their
matches.

have claimed 13 South Central Regional Titles on their way to the
Division II Elite Eight during their 25 all-time appearances in the
NCAA Postseason.

Entering his ninth season at West Texas A&M in 2017, head coach
Jason Skoch looks to build upon the great success of his first eight
years as the Lady Buffs’ leader.
The 2014 campaign was another dominating run thru the Lone Star
Conference for the Lady Buffs as they went a perfect 16-0 in league
play to claim their 19th LSC Championship while registering a perfect
league record for the 16th time since the 1986 season. The Lady Buffs
participated in their 10th straight and 25th overall apearance in the NCAA Postseason. Skoch was
named the LSC Coach of the Year for the second straight season and his fourth overall award
since joining the league prior to the 2009 season.
2013 saw the Lady Buffs continue their dominance of the Lone Star Conference as the team
went a perfect 16-0 in league play to claim the program’s 18th LSC Title. WT hosted the South
Central Regional Tournament at “The Box” as they claimed the program’s 13th Regional Title, the Lady Buffs advanced to
the National Semifinal match before falling to BYU-Hawaii in a five-set thriller. Skoch was named the American Volleyball
Coaches Association (AVCA) South Central Region Coach of the Year as well as the LSC Coach of the Year for his efforts.
The 2012 season saw the Lady Buffs claim the LSC Tournament Title after a thrilling five set win over Angelo State in San
Angelo, Texas followed by WT taking the South Central Regional Championship to make the program’s 12th appearance in
the NCAA Elite Eight held in Pensacola, Florida. WT finished the season with an overall record of 33-5.
In 2011, the Lady Buffs went 34-3 including a 19-1 mark in the LSC for their sixth consecutive and 17th overall LSC
Championship. WT made its seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason, Skoch picked up his second consecutive LSC
Coach of the Year honor. The Lady Buffs put their mark in the NCAA Record Books in 2011, recording the longest conference
win streak in Division II history of 87 matches from Sept. 8, 2006 – Sept. 17, 2011.
In 2010, the Lady Buffs finished the season with a 27-9 overall record and a flawless 14-0 mark in the LSC. The team won
its fifth consecutive LSC Championship and 16th overall. WT reached the NCAA Postseason for a sixth consecutive season
before Emporia State in the opening round of the South Central Regional Tournament. Skoch was named the LSC Coach of
the Year.
In his first season with the team in 2009, Skoch (rhymes with ‘coach’) led the ultra-successful Lady Buffs to fourth-
consecutive and 15th all-time Lone Star Conference title, 20th NCAA Regional tournament appearance and 11th NCAA
Regional title, and 11th NCAA Elite Eight appearance. The team experienced their fourth National Championship match
appearance in Lady Buff history and finished second behind three-time national champions, Concordia-St. Paul, finishing the
season with a 39-4 record.
Skoch currently boasts an incredible career win-loss record of 370-81 (.820) in his 12 years as a head coach, including a
234-61 (.793) mark in his eight seasons at the helm of the Lady Buffs. Before coming to Canyon, Skoch served as head coach
at Truman State. While with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association-member, he guided the Bulldogs to four-
consecutive top-10 rankings in the AVCA final poll.
While at Truman State, he compiled a 137-22 record (.861), made five consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament,
developed 11 All-America student-athletes as well as two MIAA Most Valuable Players. The Bulldogs
were MIAA regular-season and tournament champions in both 2006 and 2007, and spent a portion
of the 2005 campaign ranked number-one in the national polls. Additionally, the Bulldogs have
been ranked in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll every week during his tenure as head coach.
While still at Truman, Skoch recruited the 2009 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, Megan
Sharpe.
In 2007, Skoch’s squad set season records in kills, hitting attempts, assists, digs and blocks
en route to a 36-6 overall record, an MIAA tournament title, a No. 1 seed in the South Central
Regional, and a trip to the National Sweet 16. The 36 wins were the second-most in
program history, as the team won the MIAA East division for the second-straight season.
Truman went 13-4 in 2007 against teams ranked in the top-25, including a 6-3 mark against teams in the top-10 at the time of the match. The
Bulldogs went 5-3 in matches that went five-games and were swept just once - at the hands of eventual national champion Concordia-St. Paul in the
first weekend of the season.
Skoch has demonstrated success from the outset of his Truman tenure, as in his first season at the helm, Truman finished second in MIAA play
and won the MIAA postseason tournament. After opening the season ranked second in the preseason national poll, the squad jumped up to No. 1
one week later for the first time in school history. They held the top spot for six weeks in 2005. He capped off his first season at the institution with
a South Central regional title before falling in the Elite Eight against host and national-No. 1 Nebraska-Kearney.
The Bulldogs rolled through the MIAA in 2006, going undefeated and once again capturing the MIAA tournament championship. The season
was culminated with Skoch being named MIAA Coach of the Year. The squad spent five more weeks atop the national poll late in the season, and,
after being recognized as the MIAA Coach of the Year for the first time, Skoch’s squad was again selected to host the South Central Regional.
Skoch came to Truman after spending one season as an assistant coach at Mississippi State University. He was part of a first-year coaching staff
which led Mississippi State to an improvement of 11 wins overall and tied a school record for the most wins in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.
Skoch also had previous NCAA Division II experience as he was an assistant coach at Central Oklahoma in 2003. Other coaching experience
for Skoch includes spending one season as head coach with the Stillwater Volleyball Club and the Kaeppa Oklahoma Charge Volleyball Club. He
is a former player with club teams at Penn State University, the University of Memphis and Oklahoma State University.
Skoch earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State in 1998, with a major in statistics and a minor in mathematics. He earned a
Master of Science in Statistics from Penn State in 2001.
Skoch and his wife, Karen, reside in Canyon with their children: Jay, Kyle, Kade and Emmie.
