4. DECISIONS
The sponsor uses the results generated from the training
slides
• 1.To select pathologist(s) to read the slides for a global
clinical.
• 2.To determine whether the pathologist(s) requires
further training.
• 3.To improve the sponsor algorithms.
Result from the slide read are generated and entered into
an Excel spreadsheet

6. PROBLEM
• The senior managers struggle to understand the Excel spreadsheet.
• They found the Excel spreadsheet was too crowded when displayed in the presentation
mode.
• There was no way to apply important cut-offs (5%,10%,50%) to the Excel spreadsheet
without extensive manipulation.
• The process was determined to be time-consuming and prone to errors.

7. CONSULTATION
• Consulted with the project manager
• Understand the problem
• Project manager wanted a simpler way to visualize data
• Easy way to report and display the data in conferences
• Went through different chart types such as Histogram, line, e.tc
• Box and jitters was chosen to best display the data inTableau

8. STEPS TO BOX AND JITTERS SOLUTION IN TABLEAU
After extensive research, I found the solution below
• I brought Case Name to columns, and Pivot Field values to rows. This gave me one mark per case name. I then brought Pivot Field Names to color
• Next issue, coming up with a random method to scatter the marks.
•
I created a calculation called 'Random Int' containing this formula:
• ((PREVIOUS_VALUE(MIN(327680)) * 1140671485 + 12820163) % (2^24))
• .And a second calculation for good measure, called 'Random Number' containing:
• INT([Random Int] / (2^24) * 100) + 1
• I then brought 'Random Number' to columns, right clicked it, selected 'Computer Using'>Pivot Field Names...

10. FEEDBACK &
ACHIEVEMENTS
• Project manager was able to present data to a larger
audience with confidence
• Faster response time and feedback to pathologists
• Reusable Tableau template
• Dynamic dashboard
• The cut-offs 5%, 10%, 50% were used in real-time
• Saved time
