5. INTRODUCTION
DESIGN OF FIRE PROTECTION FOR A BUILDING USING AUTOCAD-
โข Fire resistance is the property of a material to withstand fire and
continue to perform its given function and provide containment of a
fire for a specific period of time.
โข Fire resistance for a building improves the safety of people,materials
and neighbours during fire events and minimize damage.So,building
can return to use quickly,boosting community resilience.
โข Designing the building with fire resistance in AUTOCAD can minimise
errors when compared with other chart work it is also a easy way of
completing the design work.
6. PROBLEM AND SOLUTION
PROBLEMS WHEN THERE IS NO FIRE RESISTANCE FOR A BUILDING:
โข Initial damage is more.
โข Death rate is more.
โข Important documents will be damaged.
โข Money loss.
โข Furniture loss.
โข Pollution effect will be there.
โข Much time and money will be consumed for reconstruction.

โข Very little building space needed for this installation.
โข Fire protection without any interruption-no filling or replacement
needed.
โข No excesive piping,no nozzles,no pressurized cylinders,no leaking
can be seen.
9. DISADVANTAGES:
โข High installation cost
โข The code structure is complex.
โข It is more difficult to develop safe design with reduced costa,because
there is no flexibility in terms of requirements obligation.
โข They are not open to technological innovations nor alternative
solutions.
โข Specific recomendations which are sometimes not clear.

14. WATER SPRINKLER-
โ A fire sprinkler system is an active fire protection method,
consisting of a watersupply system, providing adequate pressure
and flowrate to a water distribution piping system, onto which fire
sprinklers are connected.
โ Although historically only used in factories and large
commercial buildings, systems for homes and small buildings are
now available at a cost-effective price.
โ Fire sprinkler systems are extensively used worldwide, with
over 40 million sprinkler heads fitted each year.
15. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS-
โข A fire extinguisher is an active fire protection device used to
extinguish or control small fires, often in emergency situations.
โข Typically, a fire extinguisher consists of a hand-held cylindrical
pressure vessel containing an agent that can be discharged to
extinguish a fire.
โข Normally these cylinders contain carbon dioxide gas which decreases
the fire rate when sprayed on it.
17. About AUTOCAD software
โข AutoCAD, with more than 3 million licenses purchased worldwide, is
the most widely used cad software.
โข AutoCAD is used across a range of industries, including architects,
project managers and engineers and among other professions, with
750 training centres established worldwide.
โข Nowadays you cannot imagine an architectural design process
without using this software.
โข After evolution of latest technologies and innovation in high end
computers with development of software, designing & drafting
becomes easier, accurate and faster.
18. PROCEDURE
โข Every part of our UCEN college along with rooms, corridor,elevations
are perfectly measured.
โข Doors,windows, Column and wall thickness are also measured
accurately.
โข On the study of fire protection plan the places where fire fighting
equipment should be placed in our college is examined.
โข Rooms like Chemistry lab,Computer lab, Library etc are mainly
considered
โข Taking all these measured data UCEN structure is implemented in
AUTOCAD software.
โข Using adequate AUTOCAD commands structure is designed.
19. โข Fire fighting equipment like sprinkler are placed in library,computer
lab,chemistry lab,Electronics lab,workshop etc.
โข Fire extinguisher are placed between 30m each.
โข Hose reel equipment is placed.On the basis of the distance it can
cover,their placing number are taken.In UCEN three hose reel can be
considered.
โข Adequate piping system is placed by using required diameter of pipe.
โข In AUTOCAD the fire fighting equipment symbols used are cleary
mentioned with names at the side.
