Ethnographic Research: Observations
• We all get ready at different
paces, certain players are more
than halfway there, while others
goof off until later. Everyone has
their own routine
• The player standing is one who
enjoys speaking loudly even
when few are listening.
18. Design, Business, and Innovation Vincent Luna
Ethnographic Research: Observations
• Team comfortable with each
other. Bodies strewn across the
beds and the only people
standing were a couple of
freshman.
• There’s always trash talking
between players, just a part of
the game. it’s important not to
insult the wrong person,
especially not the one who is
consistently brandishing a knife
19. Design, Business, and Innovation Vincent Luna
Ethnographic Research: Observations
• This is one of a few on the team
who also plays roller hockey.
roller is similar to ice, it is seen
as a joke in comparison. The
game is played with little
physical contact
• The roller hockey players were
put into the adjacent room as a
lighthearted isolation from the
rest of the team
20. Design, Business, and Innovation Vincent Luna
Ethnographic Research: Observations
• Team struggled in years past, but
plan to achieve the level of
greatness which Hofstra ice
hockey used to enjoy.
• Many players showed dedication
by taking shifts to hold up the
sign all day.
21. Design, Business, and Innovation Vincent Luna
Ethnographic Research: Findings
• who needs a ride and who is available to provide
• we must all be ready and focused in the locker room so we can bring
that focus onto the ice
• there are many more negative comments about each other than
there are positives
• There is a clear schism between certain players based on skill level

research on health, communication, and personalities in order to promote
improved peer-to-peer relationships will stimulate an organization’s efficacy.
• The applications include the resolution of workplace conflict caused by differences
in culture or personality types. Improved communication and interpersonal skills
make it easier to work together. Education on how health affects performance will
lead to more productivity.
• Typical users may include start-up business ventures, design teams, large-scale
corporations, or any group working towards a common goal.
