1. Skills Support for the Workforce (SSfW) boost for Creative Industries in
the Great Birmingham and Solihull LEP area to up-skill staff. The
focus of the funding will be to deliver fully funded (FREE) training
courses across the Birmingham and Solihull LEP region, meeting
employer, individual and regional needs.
How does it work?
A Gecko Programmes’ Skills broker will meet with you and identify the skills needed
for your business now and for your future. We will identify, design and deliver the fully
funded training that this programme can offer to you. As part of this process Gecko
have identified that Management and Marketing courses would be of benefit to small
and medium sized companies operating within Creative Industries.
There is no charge for this training, however all candidates must commit to
undertaking a FREE business training needs analysis with Gecko Programmes.

The FREE courses available are as follows:
Making Digital Marketing Work For You
Commences on Tuesday, 10 February for 5 half day sessions
A single unit is taken from the Pearson BTEC Level 2
Certificate in the Principles of Marketing, allowing you to
study the theory and practice of using digital marketing for
your business. You will find out about:
• The role of digital media
• The use of search engine optimisation (SEO)
• The requirements of marketing research using the internet
• The uses of digital marketing devices and messages
• How to use digital technology for marketing purposes
Team Leading in the Creative Sector
Commences on Tuesday, 24 February for 9 half day sessions
You will work towards 4 units leading to the acquisition of
the full BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading Principles.
You will find out about:
• Understanding the Role of the Team Leader
• Principles of Developing Team Performance
• Understanding Personal Development
• Principles of Managing and Supporting Team Members
Managing a Creative Business
Commences on Thursday, 26 February for 13 half day sessions
You will study a series of units taken from the BTEC Level 3
Certificate in Management Principles. You will find out about:
• Principles of Leadership and Management Styles
• Principles of Managing Performance
• Understanding Personal and Professional Development
• Understand how to Develop and Maintain Productive
