I. INTRODUCTION
Atos India Private Limited is a fully owned subsidiary of
Atos SE operating in India since 1991. The Group provides
Consulting & Systems Integration services, Managed Services
& BPO, Cloud operations, Big Data & Cyber-security solu-
tions, as well as transactional services through Worldline, the
European leader in the payments and transactional services in-
dustry. With its deep technology expertise and industry knowl-
edge, the Group works with clients across different business
sectors: Defense, Financial Services, Health, Manufacturing,
Media, Utilities, Public sector, Retail, Telecommunications,
and Transportation.
We worked in department under the supervision of Mr Viraj
Awati who is Sr Manager ATF 2.0, ServiceNow Development,
Managed Services. The responsibility of this team is to de-
velop IT infrastructure and services for clients to support their
business use cases. Mr Ritesh Sinha, Tech Lead, ServiceNow
was in charge of our training before we could start working
on live project. The training was perfectly designed for Interns
and gave us the best exposure to get started with the tool. The
whole Internship was very well orchestrated by the Project
Manager and Tech Lead and they were able to deliver a lot in
very short timeline.
II. INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
The internship was divided into different phases which had
set of activities and tasks aimed at to develop skills like
learning the work culture, personal interaction, understanding
the tool, and the most important the do’s and don’ts which
were all prerequisite to be a Developer.
A. Induction
The initial phase where we had interaction with Project
Manager, the introduction to the work done in the department
was described and the blueprint of the planned activities of the
Internship. Since the work was related to Managed Services
so we were given a brief about ITSM, ITIL and ServiceNow
and asked to research about the same and understand them
thoroughly.
B. Training
In the second phase of our internship we were trained as
ServiceNow Developer and Admin by Ritesh Sinha (Servi-
ceNow Implementation Specialist at AtoS). He used to teach
us about the nitty-gritty of the ServiceNow platform. After an
hour of training, he used to give us tasks based on the learning
to submit next day. The next day usually consisted of about
an hour of discussion related to problems and and issues we
faced during completion of assigned tasks, he explained each
and everything very nicely. The training went for three weeks,
after that we were shifted to the development phase.
C. Development
To carry out the development work, we were given access
to AtoS Global Development Environment. We were able to
see each and every company, their business requirements and
the related development work. In this phase we were assigned
client stories(consisted of business requirements) to develop.
The development work is usually carried out using SCRUM
Methodology, wherein there are sprints containing stories to
be developed. We worked in one of the sprint and did the
development work for different stories as assigned. The briefs
of the stories are discussed in further sections.
III. TASK ASSIGNED
A. Team Work
Here are the task that we have done as a team:
1) : Work Type: Presentation(ITSM, ITIL, ServiceNow)
Assigned By: Viraj Awati(Sr Manager, SNOW Dev)
Brief Overview: Introduction to ITIL, ITSM Tools and
Technology.
2) : Work Type: Catalog Item Design
Assigned By: Ritesh Sinha (Tech Lead, SNOW Dev)
Brief Overview: Company Assets On-Boarding: Created
catalog items which would be used for customer on-boarding.
Different catalog items for the accounts, groups, data import,
etc were created to carry out customer on-boarding. The
whole exercise was done to automate the process, reduce
errors and decrease cost (time). The catalogs item created
have the required validations and background processes
such as ACLs/Domain-Separation as per the requirement for
increased security.
B. Individual Work
1) Manu Sharma, Vikash Saini:
Work Type: Creating Catalog Items and Workflow.
Assigned By: Rajeev Saraf (Sr ServiceNow Development
Consultant, Mumbai Office)
Brief Overview: Creating Catalog item and Service Request
Approval Workflow Overview : The task involved creating
a catalog item and creating a request approval workflow for
application access catalog item . It involved creating a three
levels of approval to access the application, which were as
follows:
• First approval was always same for every application.
• Then, if the chosen application was a given(specified),
than it would determine the second level and third level
approval by location.
• Otherwise, if any other application is chosen, than it
should take the second level and third level (second
level2) approval based on application chosen from yet
another additional table.
2) Sonu Patidar:
Work type: Development work for client story.
Assigned By: Rajeev Saraf (Sr ServiceNow Development
Consultant, Mumbai Office)
Brief Overview: In this story I had to auto populate some
fields in the catalog item based on the value entered by user
in some field. The work involved some scripting in which I
had to refer to the user data of one of the client.
3) Vinayak Tiwari:
Work type: Development work for client story.
Assigned By: Rajeev Saraf (Sr ServiceNow Development
Consultant, Mumbai Office)
Brief Overview: Workflow change request was raised. It
required changing the workflow into a one step approval
instead of the existing two steps if that request was made
from a specific catalog form. The solution for this was to add
a hidden variable to that specific catalog item using UI macro
and modify the workflow by adding a script to check for the
hidden variable if the second validation step is required or not.
4) Rounak Jangir:
Work Type: Creating Catalog Items and Workflow.
Assigned By: Jitesh Salvi (Sr Consultant Serv Mgt Dev,
Mumbai Office)
Brief Overview: The task involved creating a catalog item
”Disable server from backup” for the category Managed
Application Storage(MAS) in which no new backups are
performed, but existing backup data is retained and charged
until expiration date.
Workflow for the catalog items(Disable server from backup,
Remove server from backup) in the same category(MAS)
were also created involving different catalog tasks.
IV. INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCES
A. Manu Sharma
“AtoS was good for learning and a good start to my career.
Here I got a chance to learn about new technologies. Atos is
a company with really good work culture. Work-Life balance
was good. Seniors were always there to help whenever I got
stuck and needed them. I tried to give my best. Overall it was
very nice learning experience.”
B. Rounak Jangir
“AtoS is a great place to work. It helped me set a foot
forward to my goal and carrier. Its atmosphere is lively and
healthy for employee to learn and grow. Training program
was very extensive and good, it helped me learn a lot. We
were given opportunities to learn a lot of new technologies.
Everyone I worked with was really very supportive. I carry a
huge load of experience with me. I was fortunate to be a part
of Atos culture. I really enjoyed being a part of Atos Family
in my tenure.”
C. Sonu Patidar
“The whole experience at AtoS was satisfying. We went
through training which helped us in development work. The
company not only has good work environment but also good
people around. Although we faced some problems but in fact it
helped us knowing the organization from within. The company
was not only the single ground where we learned things, new
place, new people and new culture were also there to give us
life time experiences. Exploring nearby places on weekends
was a fun part.”
D. Vikash Saini
“I am very happy with the training in particular, it was
very carefully designed and it complimented the work that we
got when switched to live project. Apart from work AtoS has
great facilities in terms of recreation and individual growth,
like Library, Gym, Play room, and extra-curricular clubs.
E. Vinayak Tiwari
“AtoS has a great work culture to learn, grow and enhance
your career as well as personality. I am taking away a lot
from here, more than what I could give. People are great and
always there to help in case of need and never let me be all
by myself. I remember Ritesh’s (Tech Lead) advice to us while
training − “Please never be hesitant to ask questions, even if
you think it’s a stupid one, ask... period, this is not school or
college, you wont be scolded.” Support and assistance helps
to bring out the best in any individual which lead to maximum
throughput and great working relationships.”
V. CONCLUSION AND FUTURE PROSPECTS
The whole experience of working at AtoS contains both
good and bad aspects. The company has very nice environment
and great infrastructure. It did not only avail us really nice
work environment but also other facilities like Recreational
Room, Rest Room, Dining Hall, Library etc. They also orga-
nize cultural activities and workshops on photography. Each
and everything is really charming. Although we faced issues
regarding seat allocation, work allocation and stipend but we
consider problems as part of learning. Looking at the type of
the work and people here, we will like to work in the company
if given an opportunity for the same.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
We would like to extend our sincere acknowledgement
to Mr Viraj Awati for his continuous support and guidance
throughout the internship period. We would also like to thank
Mr Ritesh Sinha for his efforts to train us, he has been very
kind, supportive and have always been to our aid in times when
we needed technical support. We gladly thanks Mr Shashank
Tonpekar, Mr Jitesh Salvi, Mr Rajeev Saraf, Karishma Thorat
and other team members for their contribution in making our
internship successful.
