1. An abandoned
house
Comenius Immediate Surroundings
2. • Throughout the years the railway has given work
to thousands of people from Tapa. Today the
railway station, more than 150 years old building,
is abandoned.
4. At first, we had a workshop where we decided
how to use the certain station in the near
future. In our opinion it would be an excellent
building for different projects.
5. Then, we needed to
know more about
sustainable renovation:
how to keep bills low
save water
use environmentally
friendly paints and
materials
6. Lectures:
1.
An experienced
engineer in the
field of sustainable
renovating gave us
an interesting
lecture about
saving electricity,
making bills lower,
and saving water.
7. 2.
Two proffesionals from the Environmental Board of
Estonia presented a fascinating overview about the
importance of ground-water.
9. • During the workshop
we were explained the
natural water cycle and
water treatment
process.
• We were also shown
tricks how to save water
and at the same time
we had an opportunity
to make some tests.
11. Evolution Solar
Because traditionally-
sourced electricity and gas
power costs are constantly
increasing, many people
are seeking alternative
forms of power. Solar
energy is power, that is
converted from sunlight to
electricity.
12. The main financial cost occurs in first creating or
building the mechanism that collects, and converts
the sunlight into energy. An additional cost, is the
installation of the solar device. Further financial
costs occur to maintain and repair the solar energy
mechanism.
13. Consumers are increasingly changing over to solar
energy to reduce the costs of these fees. Personal
solar energy panels are not owned by a power
company, this eliminates fees paid to a utility
company.
14. A workshop in the field of using
environmentally friendly paints.
• The most natural paint available!
• Earthborn Casein Paint provides a soft matt finish that
complements the interiors of older buildings in particular.
• Its main ingredients are casein (a milk protein) and white lime
• Being highly breathable, Earthborn Casein Paint helps create a
healthier, more comfortable living environment.
15. How did we make casein paint?
• The paint consists
of gluten, fillers
and processing
aids.
16. Colouring
• We covered the bins
with base coat.
• Coloured them over
with casein or curd
paint.
• Marked the tare side of
the bin.
17. • Adhesive or binder form
the mixture
of borax and curd.
• Boraxis dissolved
in hot water and then
added a little curd.
18. • Next, the fillers are
mixed with water, most of
which was chalk
and kaolin.
• Finally, adhesives and
fillers are mixed
and blended with the
colour we made.
