manufacturers( regulate production,

mothers .
• restrict and control use of Infant milk
substitute and Infant foods .
• define roles and responsibilities of Health
Care Institution and health workers.

• no advertisement s
• no free samples
• no free subsidised supply of Infant Milk
Substitute / educational material related to
these products to any person .
• Labels on all IMS , FB, IF, should say in
English and local language that “breast
feeding is the best”
• no pictures of women/ infant/ phrases on
the labels that are designed to promote
the sales of these products.

professionals
• remove and destroy all ads
• refuse to accept free samples
• refuse to accept any gifts/ compliments
• avoid using growth charts ect it any
brand names on it .
• avoid sponsorship
• don't give free samples / material to
mother
• Ensure mothers 2 do not see formula feed
• ( if any) being used in hospital .

• mother is no more
• mother is very ill (temporary use)
• mother is relactating (temporary use)
• mother is HIV positive and chooses to use
a breast milk substitute
• mother rejects infant (temporary use)
• infant dependent on artificial feeds
(temporary use )

• breastfeeding is the safest only reliable
choice.
