 SetupandInstallationof independentbarcode systemonthe entire fleetinstrumentationandvehicles.
 Instrumentingthe vehiclespriortotesting, the level andtype of instrumentationdependsonthe type of test
beingperformed andde-instrumentationof the vehicleafterthe testingthe vehicle.
 The hardestpart of thisassignment waskeepingtrackof the instrumentation inthe vehicles andefficient
managementof the instrumentation available inthe department.
ENGINEERING PROJECTS
Project: Developmentofcontrolledarea network using NICompactRIO and Lab View.
Objective: To build a control strategy development environment using National Instruments CompactRIO, Analog/Digital
Input/output Modules and NI CompactRIO Engine Control Bundle. The task is to build this development environment
includingsoftwareinstallation,hardware setup,real-time calibrationtest,andbuildingmodules engine OBDcontrol.
 Builtan Analoginputandoutputmodel usingNI9263 module on cRIO microcontroller, anddevelopedauser
interface forreal time outputdisplay.
 Builta CAN read model usingNI9853 on cRIO alongwitha RT user interface.
 Buildingalogical CAN environmentusingcRIOforOBD & data loggingof ChevyVoltengine.
Project: Hybrid electricvehicle calibrationusingModel based EmbeddedControl System.
 Designanddevelopmentof control systemforthe hybridvehicle usingMotoHawkwhichcanbe calibratedusing
MotoTune.
 Developedseveral control logicsubsystemslike enginestartandstop, torque and throttle control,e-motorstart
and stop,drivingmode model,torqueblendfactorstrategy,steppermotorlogicandengine state.
 All the subsystemsare validatedusingstate flow andthenafinal control systemisdevelopedbasedonthe signal
flowbetweenvarioussubsystems.
Project: Exhaust Gas EnergyRecovery from a V16 locomotive Diesel Engine.
Objective:To determinethe energyextractedfromthe exhaustgasesof aV16 turbochargedlocomotive Dieselengine,
withthe testdata providedbyFederal RailroadAdministration(FRA),usingbottomingRankineCycle.
 Builta model of the locomotive engine inGT-Powersoftware andanalyzedthe performance parametersby
introducingtwoheatexchangersinthe exhaustmanifold.
 Collectedthe testdataandanalyzedthe performance characteristicsof asimilarlocomotiveengine tostudythe
energyavailableinthe exhaustatdifferentnotches.
 Currentlyinthe processof estimatingthe energyrecoveredbythe heatexchangers, andtheirinfluence onthe
turbochargerperformance.
Project: NOx Reductionin Diesel Enginesby EGR (Exhaust GasRecirculation).
 Testedforthe effectsof exhaustgasrecirculationonNOx emissionsona2.0L single cylinderdual valve diesel
engine.
 DevelopedaGT-Powermodel forthe same engine testconditionstosimulate EGReffectsonotherengine
parameterslike fuelefficiency,brake powerandNOx production.
 The optimumEGR levelsthatthe engine canbe operatedare determined.
Project: Model baseddesigncontrol for Hybrid Electric PowerTrain System.
 Control strategieswere developedusingSimulinksoftware.
 The modelswere made tooperate indifferentselective HEV modesincluding regeneration, torque blending
strategy,batterychargingstrategy, motorstart-stop,andgear shiftlogic.
 E-motorefficiencycurves,fuelefficiencymaps,velocityprofileswere givenasinputs.
Project: Thermal Analysis of OculusASR Satellite
Objective:To doa thermal analysisforall the componentsof the OculusASRNano-satellite andensure thatitsurvives
the in-space thermal environment.
 Simulatedthe in-space environmentusingthe “Thermal Desktop”tool inAutoCADsoftware.
 Analyzed andprovidedsolutionsforthe possible thermalbreakdownthe satellite undergoesunderthe thermal
stresses.
Project: Portable AssistedMobilityDevice (PAMD)
Objective:To designDrive Train,Steering,Braking&Suspensionsystemsforthe Portable AssistedMobilityDevice
(PAMD) aboutto be manufacturedbythe PACEorganization.
• Designedthe steeringandsuspensionsystemsin SolidWorks softwareandproposedthree plausible
mechanismsforsteeringand Brakingsystem.
• Designed the Drive Trainandthe wheel hubmotor.
Project: DevelopmentandAerodynamic FlowAnalysisof a Rear wing-Drag ReductionSystem inFormula-1 Racing
Cars.
Objective: Findsuitable operatingconditionsforachosenprofile of aDrag ReductionSystemwingforadesiredspeed
inan F-1 racing car.
• Was the ProjectTeam Leader.
• Developedasuitable wingProfileforDRSrear wingusingNACA AirfoilJavaApplet
• ModeledaDRS rear wingwithaluminumonCNCMill & testingitina WindTunnel.
• Developeda3D model inSolidWorksandFlow Simulationof itinCOSMOS.
• Flowanalysisof the model andcalculate the result.
Output: The suitable operatingconditionsof aDRS rear wing, withminimal Drag, andefficientLiftare found.
