Functions of the Stomach (Digestive) <ul><li>When the stomach fills with food, the rugae stretch out and disappears. </li></ul><ul><li>Hydrochloric Acid is secreted by glands in the mucous membrane lining of the stomach. </li></ul><ul><li>Then passes through the remaining part of the digestive system. </li></ul><ul><li>Food mixes with the hydrochloric acid and other gastric juices to form a liquid mixture called chyme. </li></ul>
