4. • This was done to prevent the compax compactor
from being pushed back by the Compax “slug.” If
the dumpster is pushed back, it can strain the
hydraulic cables and cause trash to drop to the
ground instead of the dumpster
• I worked with CDE contractors to install a
proximity sensor that detects the presence of the
Compax compactor dumpster
• The current range of the senor is approximately two
feet, but this configurable. Max range is 31.49 in.
• If the sensor does not sense the dumpster, the
compax feed conveyor will shut down and the
reversing conveyor will feed to the compactor
dumpster next to the warehouse.
6. Both the proximity sensor and
the selector switch indicate the
compax compactor dumpster is
present. This is normal.
The proximity sensor does not
see the dumpster while the
selector switch is in the
“dumpster present” position.
This would happen if the
compax compactor was pushed
away from its desired position.

7. • This was done to prevent overflows and notify
the operators when the dumpsters are not cycling
like they should. This decreased the likelihood of
upset conditions and operator interaction.
• The feedback comes from signals used in the
equipment belonging to Waste Management
• The indicators are linked to these relays, which
are wired to the Drum Pulper Control Logix PLC
Rack 0
• The indicators will appear on the following
screens; Drum Pulper, Stock Supply, Rejects,
Dilution Water, and System Summary
• When they are active, the indicators will flash red
and black and the text will flash black and white
respectively.

8. • The purpose of these indicators is to prevent overflows
by notifying the partners when the dumpsters are full.
• There are two stages to this indicator: Advanced Warning
(AW) and Completely Full (CF).
• In the AW stage, the dumpster is nearly full and should
be switched out soon. The respective indicator will blink
on and off during this stage.
• In the CF stage, the dumpster is completely full and
might be overflowing. The respective indicator will stay
solid and flash red and black during this stage.

• These indicators are meant to notify the
operators when the dumpsters are not cycling
like they’re supposed to.
• If left unchecked, this could lead to a premature
overflow that the dumpster full feedback
wouldn’t detect.
• Indicates when a dumpster has not cycled for
10+ minutes. As of right now, the dumpsters are
supposed to cycle every 6 minutes 40 seconds
(400 seconds)
• The horn goes off immediately before each cycle.
• The indicator will not appear if the dumpster is
full (AW or CF), not present, and there is less
than 10 minutes between horns.

• I finished up a project that implemented DCS
control between the flow transmitters and the
drives at the hypo enclosure.
• Previously, partners had to manually change the
drive speed. With the flow meter feedback, the
drives automatically maintain a set point entered
into DCS
• Assigned I/O in Experion and in PLC 5
• Updated drawings in AutoCAD for the drives,
Experion and PLC 5 I/O, and power distribution
to the flow meters and pumps.
• Currently, the only system that is not functioning
properly is RAS #1
11. • While I was working on the hypo pumps, the
drawings in DRCS for the Experion I/O and PLC
5 were limited.
• Created I/O drawings for Experion I/O, Rack
Layouts, and AC/DC power distribution
• I didn’t have enough time to finish the entire set
of drawings, but I’ve handed off the drawing files
so they can be finished at a later date

12. • Assisted with attempting to calibrate the metal detector on
the compax side of the Drum Pulper reversing conveyor.
• Assisted with setting up the flat screen TV that is now
mounted in the Drum Pulper warehouse with help from
Dave Pierson
• Edited some AutoCAD drawings from the Bleaching
project.
• Assisted with the selection of a safety proximity sensor for
the Drum Pulper dewiring process
