Iridology is a technique for evaluating a person's health based on an examination of the iris of the eye. The iris may reveal signs of systemic toxicity, nutritional deficiencies, chronic conditions, and more. Key signs examined include sodium rings, acidity levels, cataracts, and corneal ulcers. The iris can provide clues about assimilation, bowel health, lymphatic function, and toxicity settlements in other organs that may underlie physical issues. Iridology aims to identify underlying health imbalances and guide more holistic treatment approaches.
4. Assimilation is how well you
absorb the food you eat. It is not
what you eat that counts, it's what
you assimilate that your body can
use that makes the difference. We
mainly in the small intestine,
through the small villi which
compose the intestinal walls. The
absorptive function of these villi
may be hampered by certain diets.
Some
may also have an inherent
weakness in this area which does
not allow them to utilize their foods
as well as others.
A proper diet is the best way to aid
in assimilation. Also adequate rest
is needed as a fatigued system
cannot absorb well. Herbs such as
Alfalfa, Peppermint, Papaya,
Ginger are also beneficial.
5. BOWEL POCKETS
Bowel Pockets – partially
digested food ferments
and putrefies, causing
gas and bloating, piling up
plaque along the walls of
intestines, backing up
your colon and creating
gas pockets that doctors
call diverticulum which
are the potential
seedbeds of intestinal
problems.
11. SODIUM RING
A solid white ring circling the iris at the periphery in
zone 7 is called a sodium ring.
It is a deposit which has formed in the tissues of
the cornea, producing an opaqueness at the
corneal-scleral border
This sign is an indication of a chemical imbalance
in the body. In times past, this sign was associated
with the heavy use of chemical salt in foods and
the environment: salt miners, mariners, etc.
Today, it is also recognized as a sign of excessive
cholesterol and triglycerides in the body and
therefore it is often referred to as a cholesterol
ring.
Involved with this condition is a faulty
calcium metabolism causing it to come out of
solution and settle in the joints.
It is also associated with the deposition of
inorganic salt compounds in the body causing
similar problems.
In addition to these conditions, hardening of the
arteries and high blood pressure are highly
associated with the sodium ring.
12.
13. Acidity in the iris
Acidity in the body most often displays itself in the iris as a
whitening or white plaque-like overlay.
A whitened appearance indicates an over-acidic system –
rheumatic/arthritic conditions, gout, or (kidney) stone formation are
common, and/or eczema/psoriasis are likely.
In children (lymphatic) glandular issues or mucous build up can be
associated with acid over-load as the body attempts to rid itself of
acid wastes. A more alkaline diet (less acid forming) is especially
indicated.
14. CATARACH
A cataract is a clouding of the
lens in the eye which leads to a
decrease in vision.
Cataracts often develop slowly
and can affect one or both eyes.
Symptoms may include faded
colors, blurry or double vision,
halos around light, trouble with
bright lights, and trouble seeing at
night.
15. TYPES OF CATARACH
Nuclear cataracts form in the middle of the lens and cause the
nucleus, or the center, to become yellow or brown.
Cortical cataracts are wedge-shaped and form around the edges of the
nucleus.
Posterior capsular cataracts form faster than the other two types and
affect the back of the lens.
Congenital cataracts, which are present at birth or form during a baby’s
first year, are less common than age-related cataracts.
Secondary cataracts are caused by disease or medications. Diseases
that are linked with the development of cataracts include glaucoma
and diabetes. The use of the steroid prednisone and other medications
can sometimes lead to cataracts.
Traumatic cataracts develop after an injury to the eye, but it can take
several years for this to happen.
Radiation cataracts can form after a person undergoes radiation
treatment for cancer.
16. DIAGNOSIS METHODS
The most common tonometry test uses a painless puff of air
to flatten your cornea and test your eye pressure. Your doctor
will also put drops in your eyes to make your pupils bigger.
This makes it easier to check the optic nerve and retina at
the back of your eye for damage.
17. TOXIC SETTLEMENTS
Even though prevailing conditions may appear
to be affecting a particular part of the body,
toxic settlements or disturbed function of other
organs may be responsible.
So, Iridology directs the practitioner’s
treatment to the underlying problem and
provides a more complete picture of the state
of your health and gives clarification to the
way you should be treated.
It gives valuable supporting information to
other investigative methods as well as
assessing various other systems of the body
including:
Digestive efficiency and nutritional needs
Metabolic disturbances
The influence of one organ on another part of
the body
Psychological factors including past trauma
Toxicity levels
