1. Unit 57: Photography and
Photographic Practice
Research of other
photographers work
2. Photographer: Andrew
Brooks
• Andrew Brooks spends hours in a darkened studio striving to
show us the bigger picture. Weeks, months, sometimes years
pass by as he re-touches picture after picture, to create the
perfect moment for the viewer. In his work with the Hidden
projects he explores the unseen sides of cities to create images
that make citizens, city planners, councils, captains of industry
and magazine editors see their home with fresh eyes.
4. Choose an image…. Describe it
This is an image of a farm with a
small run down building in it. This is
a landscape image. There are a lot
of bright colours in the image to
make the quality seem better. The
image looks slightly curved at the
bottom.
5. Composition
• Andrew took this photo from an eye shot level to
make the viewer see step in to his shoes and she
his point of view and to make it look like we are in
the picture.
6. Techniques used
• He uses a vertical
rule of three for
the barn. He uses
a high contrast to
emphasise the
nice sky and the
nice weather.
7. Strengths & Weaknesses
• I think the location and the techniques
are very good. However there isn’t much
going on in the picture.
