Photographic Practice
Research of other
photographers work
2. Photographer: Michael
Robert Williams
• Michael Robert Williams grew up in the
small town of Congleton, just south of
Manchester. Some time later he moved
to London armed with a camera, a
photography degree, enough money to
live on for a couple of months, and
whatever would fit in the back of the car.
Still based in London, today Michael is
well known for his portraits of musicians,
including Kasabian, La Roux, The
Killers, Oasis, Ian Brown, Ellie Goulding,
Pixie Lott, The Maccabees, and
Portishead. He also takes portraits from
people in sport and film.
4. Choose an image…. Describe it
• This is my favourite image
from his website. It is a
portrait shot of Oasis. It is a
portrait of them sat in an
empty room with Liam
Gallagher stood up.
5. Composition
• This picture was taken at a bit of a low angle to make
Liam Gallagher look bigger. I think the set up has
been done like this on purpose. Oasis very famously
had a lot of fall outs and very rarely got on. So this
picture is all of them sat or stood on their own not
speaking to each other or acknowledging each other.
7. Strengths & Weaknesses
• I like this photo as Oasis are one of my favourite
bands. I think the photographer has set the band
up well as it sums up what they were like as a
band.
