To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing this letter to recommend Mr. Umang Shah for his pursuit of a promising position in your
company. Umang was my student at Martin Tuchman School of Management of New Jersey Institute of
Technology (NJIT). In my class (Marketing Research; Spring 2016), Umang was a dedicated student and
devoted considerable time and effort to this course. Please note that this is a challenging course, because
in my course there was not any curve for students – that is, no students received any “free credits.” In
addition, marketing research is known as one of the most difficult courses in the marketing area. A grade
was purely earned by the student. Giving the hot trend of “big data” in the business world, I believe that
Umang’s analytical skills will be very useful in dealing with numeric problem solving.
In my class, there was a 3-month team projects. A key component of each student’s grade was peer
evaluation for the team projects. Peer evaluation was given by each student’s teammates and it assessed
each’s contribution to the team projects. Umang received excellent scores of peer evaluation in this
project, suggesting that he did very well in teamwork. Furthermore, Umang also has satisfactory work
experience. He has worked in three companies for management/marketing-related positions. He also
took a leadership role in three events. In this regard, I believe that Umang’s knowledge of
interdisciplinary relations can facilitate his understanding of real-world business.
In my opinion, Umang achieved success in obtaining a good balance among study, community, and
personal life. I believe that this will help him tremendously with his career development.
In summary, I would like to recommend Mr. Umang Shah for his pursuit of a promising career in your
company. In the meantime, I am very glad that NJIT had such a hardworking student in our program.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions in the future. Email is often the best
