BACKGROUND
„ UBOS is currently implementing the Uganda National
Panel Survey (UNPS) program.
„ The UNPS entails a multi-topic panel household
survey that is carried out annually over a twelve-month
period.
„ The UNPS aims at producing annual estimates of
outcomes and outputs in the key policy areas as well
as providing a platform for the experimentation and
assessment of national policies and programs.

SURVEY OBJECTIVES
„ To provide information required for monitoring the
National Development Strategy of major programs
„ To provide high quality nationally representative
information on income dynamics at the household
level
„ To provide a framework for policy oriented
analysis and capacity building

SURVEY DESIGN
´ The UNPS initial sample targeted 3,220 households,
selected from the 7,426 households visited during the
UNHS 2005/06.
´ This sample will be visited for two consecutive years
(2009/10 and 20010/11) after which parts of the
sample will start to be replaced by new households
extracted from the updated sample frames developed
from the 2012 Census.
´ The UNPS interviews each household twice each year, in
visits six months apart.
