"It is literally true that you can succeed best and quickest by helping others to
succeed." - Napoleon Hill
In Yuma, AZ, sharing educational resources is important. As a large, relatively isolated,
community, we have found that creating busing, materials management, and technology
consortiums across school districts creates opportunities and provides resources that
individual districts could not afford alone. As the data/technology coach for Yuma High
School, I work extensively with the Yuma Educational Technology Consortium in my
coaching roles. Within the YETC, we have an amazing resource, support system, liaison,
and trainer in Tricia Loeffler.
Last year, Yuma High decided to track student athlete eligibility on a weekly basis. To do
this effectively, we wanted to pull the data directly from the teachers’ electronic
gradebooks. I contacted Tricia to see if I could create a report to pull that info. Tricia
informed me that my access did not allow that to occur. She offered to create and send
me the report every week for the entire school year. Without fail, the report landed in
my inbox every Friday by 8:00 am with cheery “Have a great day. Let me know if there
is anything else I can do for you,” messages from Tricia. When I asked for additional
information in the report, she completed my request and sent me the updated report the
same day. All my data needs were handled in the same efficient manner: impeccably
crafted reports tailored to the way I would use the data in meetings and presentations.
Two years ago, the districts in the YETC decided to change student information systems
to a more robust system with gradebook and assessment options. The Data/Technology
Coaches were given access to the sandbox site to play with the new system and
encouraged to ask questions and make requests before it was rolled out to all staff
members. I collaborated with Tricia to compile the informational, “one-stop” report that
would give teachers and administrators access to all of a student’s important info all at
once: schedule, enrollment, grades, attendance, test scores, transcript, and contact
information. Tricia took our wish list to the vendor to see if it was possible. When the
Data/Tech coaches gathered for our training, Tricia pointed out how the main student
screen had all the information I requested. I was so excited! It was even in a format that
would allow staff to customize the order and detail level of the categories. Heaven! I
appreciate her taking our request and making it reality.
As we have rolled out the new SIS to our teachers and staff, Tricia has been the main
source for customized training materials and help docs that we share with our schools.
Her work is clean, concise, and easy to follow; even my technophobes are able to
understand and use the SIS with confidence when following her directions. Tricia is also

an adept troubleshooter—when I contact her with technology issues, she has always
been able to find a solution or workaround within a few hours. She can explain why the
issue arose, how to avoid it next time, and will revise her training and help documents to
prevent the issue from arising again.
Tricia is also an excellent trainer of adult learners. She is thoroughly prepared for her
workshops and can manage learners with varying levels of “readiness”. She is calm,
poised, and approachable and is attentive to the pacing of her trainings. I always
appreciate knowing that she is in the room when we gather for training—I will come
away with new knowledge that I can put to use immediately. She often previews
upcoming changes and releases so we can prepare our staff and ourselves to adapt to
these changes.
Tricia Loeffler is a consummate IT professional. She can provide professional
development, troubleshoot issues, collaborate with the community she serves, develop
protocols and systems, advocate for necessary changes, manage data, and support
teachers and staff members as they do the important business of helping students learn
and achieve at high levels. If you would like to speak to me in depth about Tricia’s
qualities, please do not hesitate to contact me.
