Move proposal (The disappearance of oliver barrett)
SYNOPSIS
an agent is tasked with retrieving a political candidate from a political terrorist group
Genre my film will follow typical action movie conventions and will be a traditional action
movie. My main inspiration is the 2008 filmTaken and will follow a similar story but with my
own take
Title: The disappearance of Oliver Barret
Logline:
With elections nearing, a gang of terrorists decide to take matters into their own hands
when they decide to kidnap Oliver Barrett, A controversial political figure with intentions to
bring drastic changes to the country Agent Tanner from the MI5 is tasked with finding Oliver
Barrett and bring the kidnappers to justice.
Charecters:
Oliver Barrett: a high-profile Political candidate that has many enemies.
Matthew Carney: A social media blogger who runs a page against Oliver Barrett, He gets
involved in a kidnapping When he documents it unknowingly
Agent Tanner: An mi5 agent with a history of successful missions
Gary Raikes: Tanners boss who Briefs him on his mission
Mike towers: Leader of a radical political Terrorist group.
Jim Pickens: a security guard that is paid by Mike to allow them to dwell an abandoned
building and tell him about any unusual activity
TREATMENT
In an alternate Modern day England, Oliver is running for prime minister, Mike towers
doesn’t Agree with Oliver at all and Kidnaps him to Lay out a set of demands, While Oliver is
being harassed on camera By Matthew Carney Mike towers kidnaps him, after, Agent tanner
is tasked with the retrieval of both OB and the kidnapper, Agent tanner Knows of Mike
towers who before this was in hiding and immediately works on finding him After Looking
Through His last hideout for leads T is approached by a guard who then informs MT that he
is being looked for Mike sends someone to dispatch agent T but is unsuccessful And the
thug tells T the location of MT. T rushes to the location and MT makes a run for it he is
stopped and arrested. T is commended and the film ends
Target Audience
2. People who are looking for a fast-paced action movie. They will mostly be male Aged 16-35.
The filmwill be 3-5 minutes so it is accessible for people who don’t want to sit down and
view a long film. This films main inspiration is the Taken franchise
Screenplay structure
Scene 1 Oliver is approached by a social media influencer and harassed on a livestream,
while this happens a car drives to the side and shoves OB in the car and quickly drives off
Scene 2. The last frame of scene 1 is shown on a computer device closeup and is panned
away to show Tanner and his boss Gary discussing the briefing. This is when it is discovered
that Tanner has a history with Mike towers the kidnapper. and starts work on finding him
Scene 3 Shows Mike talking over the phone to the one who documented the kidnapping
announcing his demands and threats if they are not met that there will be an execution.
Scene 4 shows tanner searching a clearly abandoned area when a guard approaches him
asking about his business. tanner questions him of any activity in the area. once tanner
leave the guard calls Mike to tell him The agent was looking for him.
Scene 5 is a fight scene against tanner and a thug. Once Tanner has defeated him he
interrogates the thug.
Scene 6 Mike readies for a fight Then tanner rushes in. thug rushes for him but is defeated
Tanner tries talking to Mike to calm him but it ends in a gunfight where Mike tries to take
off to a car outside with Oliver barrett but is caught up with and taken down. the end is
Oliver being untied and Backup arriving to take Mike and his accomplices to Jail. Tanner is
congratulated.
