In this presentation I will provide information on different pathology, therapeutic and
diagnostic procedures of the digestive system that will affect parts of the body.
The digestive system which is also known as the gastrointestinal (GI) system, which
contains about 30 feet of muscular tube called the gut that stretches between the
mouth and the anus.
7. NASOGASTRIC INTUBATION
(NGT)
Procedure in which a sterile flexible tube is inserted
into the nose and down the esophagus to the stomach
for suctioning fluids out or feeding.
8. An enzyme that is present in blood. The blood
levels are increased in
people with heart and liver disease. This
test is used to detect live damage.
This test can be ordered for the following:
• Nausea, vomiting
• Abdominal swelling and/or pain
• Jaundice
• Dark urine, light-colored stool
9. Is also known oral herpes, it can cause cold sores and fever blisters around the mouth
and on the face.
Usually spread from person to person by kissing, or it could be spread from mouth to
genitals during oral sex.
People with the herpes virus, can go through periods attacks or outbreaks can be
brought on by the following conditions:
• Fatigue
• Physical or emotional stress
• Trauma to the affected area, including
sexual activity
• Menstruation
