3. What is
climate
change?
Climate change is a
change in the pattern
of the weather and
related changes in
oceans, land surfaces
and ice sheets,
occurring over time
scales of decades or
longer.
4. Causes for rising emissions
* Cutting down forests (deforestation). Trees
help to regulate the climate by absorbing
carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. If we
didn’t have trees we wouldn’t have oxygen
and there would be more greenhouse gasses.
* burning coal, oil and gas produces carbon
dioxide and nitrous oxide
* Increasing livestock farming, cows and
sheep produce large amounts of methane
when they digest their food.
5. Climate change in Australia
Climate change has been a major issue in Australia since the beginning of the 21st
century.
In 2013, the CSIRO released a report stating that Australia is becoming hotter, and
that it will experience more extreme heat and longer fire seasons because of climate
change.
6. How can we
manage climate
change
Managing climate change is
something that the human race
has been trying to accomplish
for years, here is some of my
ideas for managing climate
change,
