Workgroup -> Every computer has it’s own database of users
Active Directory -> Centralized database of computers and users
Domains – logical group of computers in the same database
Share the same namespace – ie. Mydomain.com
Sub-Domains creates a separate domain, separate database,
separate policies (Trees)
Forest – more than one domain, same sign on (Trusts)

More than one DC will replicate the database to other DCs
