ASSISTANT NURSE MANAGER, ST. FRANCIS HOSPITAL-MEMPHIS- MARCH 2015-PRESENT
Surgical speciality unit, Charge nurse (maintaining a full bedside patient load), new nurse
mentor, clinical informatics specialist serving physicians and staff with electronic medical
record resources (see below). Our floor admits on average 10 new patients daily with a
turnover of 5-10 patients, a census averaging 35 patients but frequently at capacity.
BEDSIDE NURSE, ST. FRANCIS HOSPITAL- MEMPHIS- JUNE 2012-MARCH 2015
Surgical specialty unit, Charge nurse, unit preceptor, new nurse mentor; this 41 bed unit is
a fast paced, acute surgical unit that includes but is not limited to orthopedics,
gastrointestinal, bariatric weight loss, and typical medical surgical patients.

Clinical Informatics, Cerner Trainer, (March 2015-present)
Help improve processes involving the ever changing electronic medical record; provide
unit specific print outs allowing staff to easily troubleshoot, chart, and search within the
electronic record; taught daily classes before “go live” on implementation of the updated
Cerner program; serve as continuing trainer and resource to physicians and staff on my
unit.
Improving Patient Outcomes: Readmissions of the Post-Operative Ileostomy Patient:
Ongoing project with Dr. Joshua Katz, colorectal surgeon, to research the high
readmission rates of new ileostomy patients; implementing new education on our unit to
staff and patients regarding proper hydration, signs and symptoms of dehydration,
adequate nutrition, and post operative care; reducing readmission rates

Yearly skills check off required of all current nurses; instruction differentiates between
units; includes but is not limited to IV starts, central line dressing changes, restraints
implementation, criteria, and policy review, patient controlled analgesia/epidural machine
start up, safety, and troubleshooting, tracheostomy care and safety, mock Harvey code
(patient loses consciousness), blood administration safety.
