Society for Advancement Chicanos/Hispanics and
Native Americans in Science SACNAS presented to the SAA on
September 25, 2015. Funds requested were
used to help start up the organization with
marketing materials and recruitment events.
Mission Statement: To further the work of, to improve
the effectiveness of, and to enhance the public
understanding of and appreciation for Chicanos,
Latinos, Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Native
Hawaiians and other underrepresented minorities in
science
Awards: Oregon State University won the 2015
National SACNAS Chapter Role Model Award for
Outstanding Development and Outreach
7. Cody Thompson Scholarship
The Cody Thompson Memorial
Scholarship of $5,000 will be
awarded among three students who
demonstrate leadership and positive
character, both in the classroom,
community, and throughout their
respective lives. This award will
forever honor the life and legacy of
our leader and friend, Cody
Thompson.
Recipients:

8. Homecoming
-Carnival: Celebrated 147 years of Beaver pride with fun
games, giveaways, and food!
-Concert: Country artist and fellow alumni, Jackson
Michelson, performed at our second annual homecoming
concert.

SAA members are invited to volunteer at the President's
Circle receptions held once a term hosted by the OSU
Foundation.

as the face of Oregon State’s students, but also create
memorable connections with notable alumni attending the
events.
