1. Letter of reference re: Thomas Taylor
Dear Sir or Madame:
Thomas is enrolled in the Educational Support Program at Mohawk College and has recently
completed a placement with us at Assumption where I have had the privilege of observing him
at work in our Life Skills program.
Thomas has an excellent work ethic. He follows his schedule diligently, adapts to new situations
effectively, and is reliable. Thomas has an excellent rapport with all people in the Special
Education department, especially the students. He has worked with students with varying
needs and is effective at implementing programming specific to each of them. Thomas works
well as team member by taking direction from the classroomteacher, listening to collegial
suggestions and offering to help when needed.
Thomas builds relationships with students by learning about their skills and interests. He has
managed to establish himself as a respected educational assistant in a very short amount of
time. Students respond positively to his gentle yet clear and firm demeanor. Thomas works well
independently and is able to follow through to ensure that the job gets done. He accomplishes
his given tasks with thoughtful initiative and with a positive attitude.
I support Tom’s efforts to pursue a full time educational assistant position and wish him
success.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Berlasso | Department Head of Special Education
