2.  With a deep background in construction management,
Thomas (Tom) E. Tate owns and leads Tate Builders, Inc., a
Martha’s Vineyard-based custom home builder. Along with
his commitment to his professional endeavors, Thomas
Tate supports several charitable organizations, such as
Amnesty International.
In a recent article, Amnesty International discussed 14
human rights victories achieved so far in 2015, including a
ruling from an Italian court that established the illegality of
a camp outside Rome in which Romani families were
segregated by ethnicity. Amnesty International
campaigned for years to end the forcible eviction and
relocation of Italy’s Romani people.

3.  After the landmark verdict, the organization will continue
pressing for Romani people’s right to equal housing
options.
Along with the victory in Italy, Amnesty International
helped motivate Cameroon authorities to release 84
children who had been detained for half a year. The
children were captured from a Quranic school in December
2014 during a raid security forces falsely justified as a
means of countering the militant group Boko Haram. In
June, Amnesty International learned that all of the 84
children were freed from the detention facility.
